The countless hours working with the prosthetist, designing a rig that would work for someone that had lost so much. The painful days of rehab, falling over and over, nursing blisters, laughing, crying. Stacking wooden blocks and hanging rings on sticks as she fumbled with her unfamiliar plastic fingers, shoulders aching and throbbing. Months of setbacks.

...but as she walked down that park trail for the first time, free of a wheelchair for the first time since she was six years old, Donna knew it had all been worth it.
