Sara is looking for a new place to live, but what the salesman is selling is free.  Too bad for Alice that means she will become the house for her friend.  (This story will come to DA on Sept 4th.)

Alice paced back and forth.  “You don’t have to do this.”

Sara giggled.  “Yes, I do.  I am picking out a new place to live.”  She pointed at the magazine.  “This is perfect.  A two-story house.  Look at all these spacious rooms.  And it. . . wait, I don’t believe it.  It can be mine for free.”

“It’s a scam, Sara.  You know free is never free.”

“It just says to call this number, and they will give you this house.”  She picked up the phone.  “I am going to do it right now.  I am sick of living in this little apartment.”

“Sara!”  But it was too late.  Her friend was already dialing.  “Ugh, do you ever listen to me?”

“Hello, I am calling about the free house.  Yes.  You want to know if I have a close friend?  Why yes, her name is Alice.  Why?  Hmm, it’s important to the house-making process?  I don’t see why.  You will show me when we come to. . . oh perfect.  Do you need my information?  No?  This is part of your promotional campaign?  Oh, I will spread the word if you give me my dream home.  We will be right there!”  Sara hung up.  “Did you hear that?”

              “What?”

“We are going to the vacant lot on Twenty Fourth Street.”  She grabbed Alice’s arm.  “Come on!”
