How could you forget your anniversary with Katty? Oh you are in for it now. (This story was voted on by my Patreon's and will come to DA on June 10th.)
You walk through the front door and hum to yourself. Today is a good day, and nothing is going to ruin it. Or that is until you enter the kitchen and see Katty’s hands on her hips. She stares at you with an angry look in her eyes.
“Where have you been? Don’t you know what day it is? Hmm?” She holds up her hand. “No, don’t answer that. I feel like you are just going to make things worse.” Katty paces back and forth as you struggle to remember what today is. It’s not February, so you are in the clear there. You know neither of your families are in town. Yet, as you see flowers on the table, you start to become nervous.
“You do this every year! You think I wouldn’t notice? Well? Spit it out? Where is my gift, Sarah?” She crosses her arms. “You do want to wish me a happy anniversary, right?”
You gulp, knowing you have been too preoccupied with work. Your boss has been down your throat all week, and you have had little to no time for anything else to avoid being a part of the layoffs that are looming. “I umm. . . umm. . .”
