Jane is separated from Clark during a one in a lifetime snowstorm. That just can't happen. So, she is going to risk reaching him for date night. But she isn't going to just go without her warming blueberry juice. If something happens, she needs the little berry pick me up. (This story is only on my Patreon All-Access tier.)
She threw her hands up in frustration. “And the forecast said we would have a sunny albeit cold weekend. This is not what I had in mind.” The lights suddenly flicked. “Huh?”
She hugged herself. “No! Don’t you dare go out! I have enough problems on my plate! I can’t be alone in the darkness.” She sighed. “I can’t resort to my winter power outage warming technique. Then I absolutely know I won’t see Clark until after this storm passes.”
Jane snorted as she tugged at her long golden curls. “But what am I going to do? With the storm picking up, I am losing my window to drive across town. I. . .” She took a deep breath. “No! I am not missing out on a date night. I don’t care about some stupid one-in-a-lifetime storm. I am seeing him. I want to feel him in my arms.” She gulped as the lights flickered again. “But maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring the warming juice.”
She walked across the kitchen and opened a drawer next to the fridge. Buried beneath spoons and forks, she pulled free a tiny vial of blueberry-scented liquid. “I don’t exactly want to use this, but if I have to, I will. Nothing warms the blood better than Red’s Blueberry Juice, even if it turns me into a giant berry girl.” She moaned at the thought. “But I am not looking to spend my time with Clark as a giant blueberry unless I have to. He hasn’t seen that side of me, and I don’t plan on showing it to him until we have gotten to know each other more.” She slid it into her pocket. “So, unless things get dire and I have to warm my body from the extreme cold, I am not taking this.” She shivered. “No matter how much I want it.”
