The blueberry town is about to become a bit more populated.  What new fruit is about to come to town do you think?  (This story is currently in early access on my Patreon and will come to DA on April 6th)

Well, let’s see here.” Lorelai carefully opened up the box. “Hey, there is a letter in here. Congratulations. You have been randomly selected to receive some free fruit. We think you are a wonderful induvial and deserve to have some cherry goodness in your life.” She reached inside to pull out a nice and juicy cherry. “We hope that you enjoy the fruit and the rest of your day.”

Lorelai shrugged. “I don’t know what that is all about, but I can’t pass up free food.” She tossed the succulent-looking cherry into her mouth. “Mhmm. It tastes soo good.”

She winced as her pocket vibrated. “What now?” Lorelai raised her phone to her ear. “Hello?”

“Hey, don’t you know what day it is?”

“Umm. . .” She snacked on another of the free samples. “It’s Friday, right?”

“The big promotion hearing was today.”

Lorelai’s eyes widened. “What! I thought they didn’t want us to come in today!”

“They said they didn’t want us to work so they could focus on who they wanted to promote and fire. You need to get here fast, as our meeting is coming up soon.”

She gulped. “Thank you so much for the call, Jake. I will be there as soon as I can.” She set her phone down on the hardwood table. “Great. My boss couldn’t be a bit more clear on why we didn’t need to show up today.” She ran her hands through her hazel hair. “If I am fired over this, I am. . . I am. . . ughh.” As she grabbed her jacket, she felt a strange rubble in her stomach.  Gurrrglgle. “Ughh oh no, you don’t.” Lorelai slammed her belly. “I won’t have you getting upset on me at such an important time. I will not be fired!” She ran out the door, not realizing that a small red dot had appeared on the back of her neck.
