"You're an off-again-on-again amputee as well?" Laura asked me.
"As of yesterday. How the fuck is this happening?"

Lana burst through her door, having already showered and dressed.

"Hey guys, good morning, I'm off to work, sorry can't chat! Bye!"

Like that, Lana was gone.

"She didn't notice you either? That your limbs were missing?" Laura asked.
"No. Not at all. No one did." I said, rolling my shoulders. "I fell asleep on the bus yesterday and my limbs came back."
"Same for me. It seems that I fall asleep, and come back missing all four." She squirmed.

I sat down on the bed and used my feet to reposition Laura, setting her upright.

"Let me guess again, you can deal with everything just fine? You can bathe, write, type, everything?"
"Exactly. And magically, wheelchairs pop up in places they weren't. Look."

Laura gestured towards the door, and like she said, there was a fairly large wheelchair.

"Now, do you remember me having such a contraption yesterday?"
"Absolutely not."

We both exhaled. I wrapped my legs around her, into a hug.

"Oh my fucking god it feels so good to have someone understand me."
"Oh, I agree." She relaxed into my embrace.

After a few moments, I stood up to make some tea. It felt easy, but still weird to me. Turning the kettle on with a toe, reaching way high up into a split to get mugs.

"I've only had this... Whatever you call it... Since yesterday. How about you?"
"Well, the last month or so." Laura said, flopping back.
"That's surreal." I said, sitting up on the counter. "Is it really each time you fall asleep? No other time?"
"Seems to be. I've almost gotten used to it. Almost."

Laura rolled off the bed, somehow slowly, gracefully landing on her bottom. It was one thing to see myself being adept without certain limbs, but to see someone do the same with none is certainly interesting.

"I now have a strange thought, each time I fall asleep." Laura said, bending over, biting her t-shirt on the ground and somehow managing to slip into it. "I go to the gym in the morning. I do my treadmill run, knowing that doing the same tomorrow will be impossible, but will be trivial the day after. I go to bed after studying for a test, knowing that the next morning I'll be going to write it in a wheelchair and with a pen in my mouth."

I brought each mug and tea bag, as well as the electric kettle to the coffee table, where Laura positioned herself. It seemed appropriate for her height. I sat in a lotus next to her.

"To me, the weirdest part is that... No one fucking notices." I said, pouring water into the mugs.
"Yeah. You feel sort of insane. Thankfully that's not the case any more."

Laura leaned forwards to take a sip of the tea, but recoiled, realizing that it was too hot.

"We both have the same... Abilities? You have way more confidence though."
"Thanks."
"So. I guess we can't like. Go to a doctor or anything."
"Nah, I thought about it for a long time. No one realizes that the amount of limbs we have keeps changing. If I told anyone that I was supposed to have limbs, they'd laugh it off, or think that I'm crazy."

It was comforting to know that Laura happened to be in the exact same situation I was in. It was irksome that she had no idea why this was happening. I reached my foot up to the table and grabbed the mug with my two biggest toes, it was somehow comfortable.

"Only a day, right?"
"Maybe not even 24 hours." I took a sip.
"That must have been your first time, right there, grabbing a mug."
"Yeah, it felt natural."

Laura sighed, and took a sip of tea.

"Is there like... Anything nice about having no limbs?"
"At this point, it's almost the same. I can move around with the chair, I type just as fast. I can do almost everything the same, just differently."

She leaned back, against the sofa.

"But the sex is totally awesome." She smiled, the first time this morning. "My boyfriend is exactly the same regardless of my phase-"
"Hah, we're calling it a phase?"
"Well, I dunno, we're like some fucked up sort of... Werewolf? Jekyll and Hide?"
"Ware-amp?"
"Yeah, lets go with that. Anyway, regardless of phase, my boyfriend behaves exactly the same." She turned to look at me. "Except in bed."
"R-really?"
"Yes. The cuddling is way nicer. He can... Envelope my whole body and make me feel safe." She swooned.

"I'm kinda jealous." I said. "Though, I haven't done anything with my girlfriend yet, not like this."
"Well, you might like it. Try to find the upside to these things. I try to at least. In my case, it's the... Emotional intensity of the sex. Oh, I trust him when I have limbs, but I'm many times more helpless when I don't. Sorry, is that too much?"
"No, it's fine."

I sipped my tea.

"Do you get like, carried around?"
"Sometimes. For the first week of this stuff, people would offer to help me. I tried to figure out doing things with out them, and I did, but I just get lazy sometimes. You though, you have feet at least."

I put the mug down, and looked at my toes.

"Do you think we're moving between different realities?" I asked.
"I guess." Laura took a sip and looked out the window. "Wanna help me shower?"
"But you can do it yourself, right?" I asked.
She smiled at me.

"My place has these suction things on the walls." Laura said to me, the water misting our naked bodies. "You'll need to help me."

Laura squirmed until her back was facing me.

"Back please."
"Just so you know, this is my first time bathing armless."

Laura was easy enough, just sit down, keep her steady with one leg wrapped around her, my other foot applying the soap.

It took a little while, but eventually we were on the bathmat, drying ourselves off.

Watching her actually get herself dressed and her hair combed was strange. It didn't seem like it was possible, but she managed to do it by using her mouth to move things, then move her whole body against it. Putting a hair dryer at an angle and moving her head around.

Eventually, we both got ourselves sorted. I helped Laura get into her chair, sitting on the floor and using my feet to lift her into the contraption. Predictably, limbless girls don't weigh very much.

We exchanged numbers, and off she went. It was good to know that someone else was in the same boat as me. I just needed to learn to avoid the sea sickness.

But now, for the first time since this started happening, I had a bit of time to myself.

I was only wearing some shorts and a tank top, no intention of leaving the house for the moment. I walked over to the middle of the room and looked at myself in the mirror. It was great that my flexibility was much higher when I was armless, but I didn't really understand the limits of it.

I sat down in the middle of the floor, in a butterfly position. Touching the soles of my feet together, I could allow my knees to touch the floor, just by relaxing. I could also do the splits, while bending forward or backward. Doing a pretzel was also trivial. Though, doing back bends wasn't much easier than it was yesterday.

I guess it made some sense. If I was truly born armless, I would need this level of flexibility just to live independently.

Even weirder was typing on my computer. I spent the rest of my day writing an essay, which was weird to do with my toes.

I heard the door lock moving.

"Heeyyy," Lana said as she closed the door. "How's the essay?"
"Getting there, you know how it is."

Lana dropped her coat and shoes and walked over to me, sitting down on the floor behind me and hugging me, her hands around my stomach. I brought my feet to hers, holding onto them with my toes.

"That's cute." Lana said, with as little energy as possible.
"Are you tired?" I asked.
"A bit, yeah."

She allowed me to turn, so we were facing each other, our legs still wrapped around each other. Lana started to massage my arm spots, sending a buzz into my head and down my torso.

"Ohhh you love that." Lana whispered.
"Mmmmmnn." I mumbled. It actually felt strange. This wasn't a part of the body I was supposed to feel.

As she continued, she began to kiss my neck, then my cheek. I kissed her soft lips, gently caressing hers with mine. She unbuttoned my shirt carefully, the fabric falling off my shoulders, into a heap behind me. She unbuttoned my shorts.

She took them off, and I gently pushed her back with my foot, falling backwards with a smiled, her hands above her head in mock submission.

I stood up and used my toes to unbutton her shirt. Something that normally gave me mild anticipation was heightened by the fact that I was using my toes to do it. The strangeness brought out something different in me.

Our clothes off, I straddled her, my shins and inner thighs touching the warm skin of her stomach and ribs. My pussy touched lightly by her rising and falling stomach as she breathed in and out.

As we held eye contact, her hands went down, dragging her fingers along my legs, touching my ass, and eventually my ready vagina. My first time having armless sex.

I lowered my head to a kiss.

To be vulnerable with someone you trust is the best feeling in the world.

After that night, I slowly became more comfortable with my situation. No one could tell that I was armless except for me. And Laura.

Speaking of Laura, we had developed a rapport. She was actually becoming a good friend of mine. If we had coffee or lunch together, it was a coin flip as to whether or not we'd be complete.

It was always strange when we met in public. If I was armless, no one seemed to pay much notice when I slipped a foot out of my shoe and used my bare foot to bring a coffee mug to my mouth. No one cared that much when Laura leaned forward to stir something with a spoon in her mouth. People acknowledged that we were missing limbs, but not in the sense that I had usually witnessed. No one was gawking.

Even weirder was going into work with arms on Monday, and coming in Tuesday without them. At least I became comfortable wearing compression shorts underneath my dress. If I unfocused my eyes and brought my knees against my ribcage while sitting up, it was almost as if I had hands again. It was slowly becomes more natural to be armless, and to switch back and forth.

However, after a month, something weird happened. Again.

"Iiiiiiiiii'm," Lana said, mid-yawn. "Going to bed." She said a few minutes after getting home. Late.
"Long day?" I asked, this time sitting in a lotus on the sofa. Something I simply can't do when armed.
"Yeah. Long."

With that, Lana entered the bedroom, closing the door behind her.

I went about my business for the next hour and half, checking my work email, but mostly social media.

I had actually discovered that there was a way for me to confirm whether or not Laura was limbless or not at any given moment. Just checking her profile and going to her beach photo was enough. Some days the photo featured limbed Laura, sometimes not. It was the same for mine. I wondered how much longer it would take for me to fully accept this reality. Laura had done a good job of it, at least I think she had.

I finally decided to go to bed. The lights were out in the bedroom, but it was safe to assume that Lana was sleeping.

Going into the bathroom, I sat up on the counter, next to the sink, and turn the water on with my toes. The actual act of brushing my teeth wasn't very difficult, or at least I didn't think it was. It was a simple matter of using my bent knee for leverage while I move my ankle back and forth.

Sometimes these things are hard to tell, because when I wake up tomorrow, doing this will be easy, but typing with my toes will be impossible.

It turned out something else would be impossible tomorrow. Someone else.

The next morning started with my hand reaching out to stop my alarm clock.

Thankfully it was Saturday.

I climbed out of bed, Lana was still asleep. I quickly went to the wash room, and as I came out, I saw the outline of Lana's body. Something had changed.

Carefully moving the cover out of the way, I saw that she had transformed, as I and Laura had. It was more fucked up though.

She had no torso or arms. Somehow, Lana only existed as her head, directly attached to a pair of hips.

I put the covers back.

What do I do?

I ran over to my phone and called Laura.

"Mmmph, hello?" I clearly woke her up.
"Laura. I have a situation."
"What?"
"Lana changed. Transformed. It's really weird, I think it's the same thing we have."
"Like, how?"
"She's like, a head on legs."
"Oh. Uh. I have no idea."
"I can't like, just pretend I don't see it, then recognize it later. That'll make her crazy."
"Uhhhhh. I think... Stay away for a bit, let her find out on her own, then go and explain things to her."
"Really?"
"Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!" I heard Lana scream. It was too late for anything else. "Sarah!!!"
"I heard that." Laura said. "I have just as much experience with this shit as you do, really. Go help her. Be there for her."

We hung up, and I walked into the room.

"Sarah!" Lana said, turning around, looking at me, standing in front of the full length mirror. Head, neck, pelvis. I thought I was looking at a green screen special effect, but Lana was real. There was a stress in her face I almost never see. I wasn't even able to understand her shape, compared to mine and Laura's. Where did her lungs go?

"Sarah! I'm a freak!" If I had done the same thing as her when I woke up armless, Lana would have been confused. She would have been alarmed. She probably would have told me that I had always been armless. I was in the position to do something different. I'm glad this whole ordeal is happening in this order.

I walked over to her and knelt on my knees and pulled her into a hug, my hands on her upper legs.

"I'm a freak too."
