All I wanted to do was cash a cheque.
I had ten minutes to spare before work, and I needed money on my account to get lunch later. Nor was the line-up very long. Some sort of pop music was playing on the speakers at a comfortable volume, though lame, I tried not to tap my foot, lest these heels cause even more unnecessary pain. Three people were in front of me, one was a young woman, quite thin with a bit of leg showing, rather pretty. I could look like that if I biked more often. Maybe.
"Next please." The woman on the other side of the counter said.
I had taken maybe a step or two. But there was an awfully loud noise just then.
Completely disorienting.
Ringing in my ears.
I could hear my heart pounding in my ears.
Blurry vision.
Now clear.
Somehow I was on the ground.
There was some screaming and shouting.
A some men were talking.
"Ladies and gentlemen. Quiet please, quiet." I turned to find the source of the voice. There were four men, I think men, they were completely masked, their gloves and shoes made it impossible to even discern their skin colour.
"Now, please, don't be alarmed. We just want some money." His voice was very clear, well, as clear any Welshman could be.
His friends closed the windows, one of them turning the "open" sign around.
"You may have noticed, after our 'interesting' grenade went off. What it-" There were some screams.
Tried to move, but I just felt the ground underneath me. "Ffffuck!" I couldn't find my arms or legs, they had somehow vanished.
