Looking up at his girlfriend, Ryan watched her vain attempt to find him. How had she even lost him? I mean, she was the person to transform. Not only that, but what he became was something that was almost always glued to her hand, at least while at the hotel.
She had, after all, transformed him into a TV remote. All of this started the night before. While on vacation with his girlfriend Jennifer, he had made the mistake of saying something that could be taken the wrong way. What he said wasn’t all that important now.
As soon as he realized how she had taken it, he apologized, with her brushing it off. They went to bed that night with Jenn still mad at him. When he woke up, he found himself not in their bed but out of it, on top of a nearby table.
He watched as she woke up and, while making the bed, accidentally sent him flying. Ryan was terrified as he soared through their hotel room before landing on the hard carpet, right between another table and the couch. He landed hard but, thankfully, still in one piece.
“Alright, you little bastard, where are you?” Jennifer practically shouted while scouring her hotel room. It had already been a couple of hours since she lost. “I transform you while you sleep, so I know you can’t escape, but, well, you did it anyhow, godddamit!”
Hearing this, Ryan was terrified. He had never heard her so angry before, and now dreaded her finding her. I mean, since getting flung halfway across the room, he had felt powerless. I mean, how couldn’t he be?
All he was now was inanimate plastic. Something which could only function with someone else’s whims. Now he felt that way even more so. The second his girlfriend found him, he could do nothing to stop her. He had a feeling that if he were discovered, well, this wasn’t the worst form he could become.
On an emotional level, he was all sorts of mixed. After their fight the night before, he had wanted to patch things up, to move on. Now, he was literally and metaphorically thrown to the side. Having become inanimate, that was quite easy to do, though it still hurt.
“Fine, fine! Of course, I can’t find you! Y’know, I’ve already spent too much of this day searching for you, Ryan! This is supposed to be my last day here! Alright, fine! I’m going to pack my bags and just leave you here! That’s better than spending more time looking for you, bastard!”
With that, Ryan watched silently as his girlfriend periodically went out of view as she got everything and ultimately left their hotel room. Lying on the floor, there were three things on his mind. 1) When was the maid coming to clean the room?
2) When would the next person rent this room? And 3) would it be a woman? All of which were answered within the day, as, by that evening, a random woman was using him to switch through the hotel’s channels, completely unaware of who/what he once was.
