Ever since moving into her house, Martha had taken up the habit of sitting on her porch and watching the street. She had nothing better to do, plus it gave her a couple of hours of sitting out in nature, at least in spirit.
With how long she had been doing this she had gotten pretty good at remembering everyone’s routine. Since she would go out almost as soon as it was light out, she got the chance to see everyone on her street leave for work. Although, to her surprise, Amy had yet to leave for work.
She was her next-door neighbor and should’ve left for work by now. It was honestly pretty weird, she had no kids or any reason, to her knowledge, to stay home, so, why did she? Well, her answer was a lot closer than she realized, especially if she decided to look at the bottoms of her feet.
Flattened and stuck to her right sole was Amy, completely unable to do anything let alone pry herself off the older woman’s foot. It wasn’t her intention to become her neighbor’s foot sticker if that wasn’t obvious. Having been unimmune to the shrinking virus it had only been a matter of time before she got it.
Today was the day it went into effect, early this morning she had shrunk. With no way to help herself, she decided naively to leave her house and try and get help. First, she decided to go see Martha. It took a while, though, by the time she got there, she still hadn’t gone outside. For a couple of minutes, she waited on her doorstep for her to come out.
Suddenly she opened the door and stepped outside, in the process squishing Amy under her foot. Unaware of what she had done to her neighbor, Martha sat down in her usual spot and started her usual day of people-watching. The next couple of hours passed by extremely slowly for her.
With nothing to do, she was forced to completely focus on her neighbor’s hardened foot, her footwear as it poured over her, and the faint but ever-growing foot musk engulfing her. Having grown worried about where her neighbor was, Martha decided to head over and check on her, still unaware that Amy was a lot closer than she thought.
