Ever since Mark and Jess started dating I’ve been seeing less and less of them. Part of it intentional part of it not. Sure, I was one of Mark’s best friends and all but I wasn’t mad that he spent all his time with his girlfriend and not with me, a girl friend.
Still, part of me was hurt. For years we had been friends, even when we were children. Thanks to that we’re quite close, always have been. With that, we know each other pretty well, even those aspects we liked to keep hidden.
When it came to Mark it was nothing major, just stupid things he did and the like. For me, well, my stuff was a bit more personal. The biggest thing I told him about was my malleability. For whatever reason I was born with an increased flexibility.
Anything you did to my body I could handle. Whether you flatten, melt, mold, squish, squash, trample, or hit me, I could take it. Mark was one of the only people I had ever told, partly due to my insecurity about it, and partly due to not wanting anyone to abuse my body.
It was pretty easy to anyway, with how quickly my body could become 2D. Out of everyone I told, he didn’t seem like someone who'd abuse it. Sure, my family knew but they’d occasionally flatten me or do something like that.
Him though, he’d never, or rather hadn’t up until recently. It had been quite a few months since I had last talked to Mark when he suddenly called me. That in itself was quite shocking since we mostly texted each other.
Albeit sounding calm, I could tell he had a problem with something. We talked for a while before he brought up what he really wanted. “I hate to ask you this, especially with how late it is but, um, could you come over to my house to help me something?”
“Sure,” I reasoned without hesitation, “What’s up?” I asked. “I’ll explain once you get here.” Although I was a bit intrigued by why he was so quiet, I figured it must be something that could only be explained in person. Boy, how wrong I was.
A short drive later I arrived at Mark’s house. It looked just like it did the last time I came around, except for Jess’ car in his driveway. Weirdly I felt a chill down my spine, almost as if something bad was about to happen, though I brushed it off.
Walking up to his front door the chill got worse, but there was nothing I should be wary of, right? I knocked on his door and waited for a couple of seconds before he opened. He welcomed me inside, with no sigh of Jess anywhere.
As I stepped inside, the front door suddenly closed and something heady was brought down upon my head. In an instant, I was flattened, with my body taking an almost pancake shape. “See, wasn’t that easy? I knew that you wouldn’t be able to do it.”
“I know babe,” Mark said. “I could’ve but she is my friend after all.”
“Was,” Jess responded. “Well, don’t just stand there we’ve got a floor to fix.”
Admittedly it took me a minute to realize what happened, but once I had I was pissed. Of all the people to do this to me, Mark was who I least expected. Still, I had no clue what they were going to do with me. What did Jess mean by “we’ve got a floor to fix?”
Mark carefully peeled me off the floor and stretched me like an accordion until I was my regular self, though I was missing a dimension. Grabbing me by my flattened head he carried me into his garage, with Jess following closely behind.
Once there, he laid me on his workbench and went off to presumably grab some tools. Above me was Jess, looking thankful. “Y’know, I honestly can’t believe how quickly you agreed to this, hell you don’t even know what’s about to happen to you.”
“I doubt you would’ve agreed if you had known what we need you to become so this way was for the best.” She told me as she began to fold me up. She started by folding my arms behind my back, then my legs.
With my limbs gone, she folded me in two, resulting in my head being rested on my flattened ass. I still didn’t know what they were going to do with me. By now Mark had come back with a ruler, some liquid, and what appeared to be paint. What were they going to do with me?
I watched as they held the ruler above my head and then the side of it. “I’m surprised she’s the perfect size, a perfect floor tile shape,” Mark said. Jess grabbed the paint bucket from his hand and opened it.
Being completely immobile I could do nothing as she began to cover me in the paint. All over my body, save for my new backside. Each stroke of the bristol felt insanely good, as did any touch the two inflicted upon my body.
Soon enough I was covered in white paint, save for my eyes and back. I felt as the paint started to harden and seep itself into my malleable skin. Looking over me was Jess, grinning. “I bet you still don’t what we’re going to do to you, don’t you?”
“Well,” she said “a couple of hours ago I accidentally broke a floor tile. All I did was drop a weight on it and the thing shattered. I was going to buy a new one but I could only buy multiple, and even then it was expensive.”
“That’s when I remembered about our malleable friend. I figured why go out and buy a new floor tile when we could make one. So after one phone call with you, we had one on its way, and now we’re here.”
Mark brought a fan over to me and turned it on to max blow. With that, the paint began to harden faster, to a point where I felt it to be completely dry. Jess touched me to test if it was true and it was, so she grabbed a clean brush and dipped it in the enamel.
Like when she brushed paint over me, her brushing the enamel felt good, slightly less so though. She covered every bit of me in it, save for my back, even my eyes. It was weird to feel it harden over my eyes, though I could still see even once it dried.
After a couple of minutes I was finished, Jess was pleased with this. Running her finger over me she checked to make sure I was ready. With me being so, she wasted no time in grabbing me and bringing me into their kitchen.
Mark was already there waiting. Carefully the two of them slid me in place. Among the other normal-looking floor tiles was me. “Won’t you look at that,” Jess teased “She’s just about flush with the rest of the tiles, save for her eyes.”
It truly dawned on me in that moment of what I was now, just a goddam floor tile. Stepping onto me, Jess made sure I was firmly in place. Satisfied with how I ended up she walked away followed by Mark.
I was left in the light for a moment before someone turned off the light. It was then I realized that they had never told me when they would transform me back. With how they treated me it seemed like this was going to be my permanent form, but they wouldn’t do this to me, would they?
If they did there was nothing I could do about it. I was now nothing but their replacement floor tile, until they took all this paint and enamel off. Until then, I better get used to them walking over me.
