“Ok, Hikari, so you walked into the hospital…”
“Because the nurse told me I looked sick, yeah, what about it?”
“Well, usually you’d have had to already be in the hospital for them to tell you that…”
“I was a couple blocks away.”
“And you just… followed her?”
“Well, yeah, you listen to doctors and nurses, Natsuki, what about it?”
“Not when they randomly come out and diagnose you!”
A pair of young women, Hikari Himura and Natsuki Nakano, were walking down the streets of Matsushita City, deep in conversation. The odd hour meant the streets of the man-made island were nowhere near as densely packed as they usually were. At least, it shouldn’t have been, but a group of people were approaching while the pair were occupied.
“I mean, you don’t stop listening to the doctor’s orders when you leave the hospital, that’s why they call it doctor’s orders.” Hikari said, fuming.
Natsuki rubbed her forehead as if with exasperation, but was grinning. “It’s almost too bad you noticed in time. You’d have looked cute in a nurse outfit~”
“Ehehe… I kinda didn’t, Akemi showed up when they were about to give me a shot…” Hikari admitted.
“Oh, she must have loved that.” Natsuki laughed.
“She did, for the short time between her saying your welcome and getting a shot in the butt.”
“I wish I’d been there earlier, she looked so great in it, and I would have loved to hold a shot like that~”
The group was getting closer, and they certainly weren’t normal people. They were wearing elaborate white-and-red robes, and had strange, neon blue full-face visors. Every one of them was a woman with a rather nice figure, not all that hidden by their outfits...
“Oh, hey,” Hikari said, looking over at them, “Do you think they’re collecting for a local shrine or something?”
“I like the outfits! Ooooh, and those masks are sexy as heck, hehehe~”
“You two!” one of them shouted, her voice with a light digital distortion in the background due to the mask. “This territory is under the control of Mistress Izanami Ishikawa!”
“Oh, do we have to leave right now, or is there a punishment for violating it~?” Natsuki prompted with a smile.
“It’s not a punishment! It’s an honor to serve Mistress!” the lead sci-fi shrine maiden said. She took a pair of masks out of her sleeves. “Don’t worry, you’ll understand that soon~”
Hikari looked at Natsuki, who looked back at her. “...I don’t think they’re collecting donations, are they? Miss Nakano said that if anyone’s talking about Master or Mistress they’re probably not alright.” she asked.
Natsuki laughed. “I dunno, maybe they are. Do you wanna let them mask me first to check?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. I’m going to transform now, if you don’t mind.” Hikari said uncertainly.
“Awww, I like their style~” Natsuki pouted, but stepped back from her friend to let her work.
As the masked minions approached, Hikari took a deep breath and reached into her collar, pulling out her necklace. Despite Natsuki’s insistence to write one, she (and in fact many of Matsushita City’s officially licensed magical girls) didn’t need any sort of dramatic chant to transform. She simply willed it to happen, and it did. There was a flash of white light as Hikari quickly summoned her magical girl uniform.
One moment, she was in a standard school uniform - the next, she was in a fashionable white ensemble, featuring a jacket, a frilly skirt + shorts combo, and good running boots to go with a large, metallic staff with a green gem on the end; she was a bit more on the practical side as far as transformation goes, although she didn’t often need to get her hands dirty in close combat. She often thanked her demon-slaying ancestors from whom her amulet was passed down for prioritizing usefulness over femininity.
The miko themed minions stopped short as they saw Hikari transform. The lead one laughed. “Ha! A magic user! Mistress thought that this place had more magical concentration than the rest of this world, and girls like you must be why! But the mistress is powerful, and has granted us more than enough-”
She didn’t get to finish her sentence, as Hikari went to work. She was a bit slow on the uptake, and could be a bit blind when it came to common sense, and didn’t really have a magical girl team per se. She was a bit gullible, and more than once had been taken down without actually realizing she was being attacked. But as long as the enemy was as unsubtle as these had been, she made up for it in raw power. If your average magical girl was a rifle, Hikari was artillery.
The minions, she noted, were stronger than most - they took two blasts of magic to take down instead of the usual single blast! There was a good number of them too, but in a few moments, they were all cleared out. Natsuki looked over them, and then in the direction they came from. In the distance, there was some sort of glow. “Well… I forgot my gear at home, so I guess you’re gonna have to deal with this one yourself…”
“Alright! Stay safe! I’ll try not to come after you if I end up getting minion’d!” Hikari said, gathering some magical power.
“Or you could instead be sure to~” Natsuki teased.
Hikari launched off the ground and into the air, crystalline wings appearing on her back as she flew towards the source of the light.
--------------------
Izanami Ishimura, dark magical girl, probably insane, and definitely powerful was having a nicer time than she’d thought she would. This was far from the first world she’d visited to drain it’s magic, and it actually had a higher amount than you usually saw in a world this technologically developed. For some time she’d wondered if she’d stumbled into an equal to her own home dimension. But soon after she’d properly scanned the planet, she discovered that while it was very advanced and had a lot of magic, those two were largely separate - and the magic was highly concentrated into a single region, which was where she’d found this city.
It was pretty much a jackpot as far as she was concerned. Most high tech worlds didn’t have that much resistance to her draining the magic, if they ever realized it, but they also didn’t have much magic to begin with. Most high magic worlds were a pain to deal with since they were filled with wizards and adventurers who’d actually put up a fight to try and stop her, and while their tech was inferior magic evened the odds. This world, though, had barely tapped it’s substantial magic.
Sure, there were a few magic users. But they were few, if highly concentrated, and mostly not as high in power as a real mage. It had been child’s play to set up the circle and begin the complicated ritual that Izanami would usually have saved for after defeating the local heroes. With the few immediately local magical girls defeated, she’d been able to progress far in the draining.
Suddenly, she detected a high power energy source approaching at high speed. For a moment, she thought it was some sort of missile - but no, it was magical in nature, and had the telltales of a human being. Izanami was honestly surprised - most of the magic users she’d defeated so far had been fractions of the incoming power. She might be worth converting, if she got past the mini-
They didn’t even put up a fight. Izanami raised an eyebrow, not breaking from her ritual. This wielder of the arcane was strong, not slowing for the lesser minions and other opponents. Izanami didn’t mind much. She’d probably still finish it before they arrived. She sent out a mental command to the nearer minions, those stronger ones who had been magic users themselves before she defeated them, commanding them to go and stop whoever was coming so quickly.
The girls ran off with a “Yes, Mistress!”, leaving Izanami on her own. She decided to split attention a little, tapping the mind of one of the girls and watching through her eyes. Despite the major magical power, the former magical girl could only see a single person coming fast. She was a magical girl like they had been, wearing all white with black hair and flying on crystal wings. She slowed as the girls approached, squinting. The former magical girls were a bit more powerful as minions, and had half-masks instead of full masks, and she seemed to recognize some of them.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” she asked, tilting her head.
“We’re serving our beloved Mistress Izanami!” came the immediate response, repeated several times over. “You soon will too, trespasser~!”
“Ooooh, let me guess who she got…” the flying girl said, pausing a little in flight and pointing to each girl in turn. “...Wow, Momo, Ava, Kei, Reina… she got you all even though you were in a group, huh? She must be strong, I’m looking forward to seeing her!”
Izanami rolled her eyes. She was strong. Too strong for one girl. She sent the quartet of elite henchmen on their target, weapons flashing into existence as they approached. As they began to fight, the dark magical girl perused her minions minds for a name… Hikari Himura, hm? She might make a nice chief minion-
Abruptly, her connection to the minion she’d been watching was severed. One second she’d seen a flash, then nothing. She switched to another, and got nothing. Another, and she had the image of a boot meeting her face.
This was interesting. She was fighting four high powered minions, ones who had previously been magic users of the same class as she was, and barely taking more time than she had with the generic civilian minions. This “Hikari” was ridiculously powerful. Izanami slightly stepped up her efforts. She had to get to a certain point in the ritual before this new magic user arrived. Because if she was that strong… well, then she’d know better than to stop her once she got a look at the circle and saw it’s potential effects. No magic user could be that strong without a comparably high knowledge of magic and sense, could they?
The magical signal got closer, and closer…
--------------------
Hikari flew quickly through the city, having cleared maybe two dozen minions plus a team of the more elite ones that usually resulted from transformed magical girls on her way. She felt like something big and bad was happening, because generally that much light coming from something that wasn’t a holiday celebration or a firework display meant bad things. She landed about a block away and walked the rest of the way, past a few more miko-minions - who, oddly enough, didn’t actually accost her.
In the center of the crossroads, there was a big, purple glowing magical-looking circle studded with arcane symbols. In the center was a tall woman with long white hair and very pale skin, clad purely in black. She was glowing even more than the circle, as she worked magic.
“You’ve done well getting this far, mage,” the woman said, turning to face her with a haughty smile on her face, “I couldn’t believe that there was anyone as powerful as you here. The world seems to have only just discovered magic for real, and already they have users as powerful as you? Quite impressive. It’s a wonder what might have happened if you hadn’t been unfortunate enough to be the next target of interdimensional villainess Izanami Ishimura~”
Hikari blinked. “...Oh, are you an alien? That’s really cool. Now, I don’t know how alien-culture works, but here you’re not supposed to go around mind controlling people. It might be a sign of respect where you come from but-” The woman stared at her blankly. “What, is there something on my face?” Hikari patted down her face, feeling for whatever it might have been.
“...You can’t be serious.” Izanami said, barely loud enough for Hikari to hear. “Are you an idiot? Or are you just trying to confuse me into stopping?”
“Your translator’s broken, idiot is generally considered rude.” Hikari said.
“I… I know…” Izanami rubbed her forehead.
“Do you have a headache? We have these nice things called painkillers that help a lot with that, you probably do too but I don’t know-”
“...How in the name of everything that makes sense did you end up with that amount of power…”
“Oh, it’s this amulet thingy that passed down for hundreds and hundreds of years of monster-slayers and heroines, my mom gave it to me when I was 15-”
“Shut up!” Izanami shouted. She coughed, and took on a more formal tone. “Ah-hem. Cease your blathering, failed heroine. If you have this much magical power, you should look at the circle, and see you are too late! At this point in the ritual, it would be catastrophic for you to end it! You can do nothing but wait as I suck the magic from this world before moving on to the next!”
Hikari blinked. “...Well it’s kinda pretty, but that sounds bad. I should stop you.” Hikari took a deep breath, and began gathering power into the end of her staff, white energy coalescing around the tip. “You’re a villain, so of course it’d be bad for you if I stopped you!”
Izanami laughed. “Wait. You… you’re not seriously this dumb are you? You can see the magical shield, right?”
“Well, I don’t have to blast you if I just stop the spell from going off.” Hikari said simply, taking aim.
The villainess went pale as Hikari spoke. “It’s past the point of no return, an interruption at this point leads to a dramatic failure and backfire on anyone nearby-”
It was no use trying to explain as Hikari tuned the villainess out, charging up more and more power. She frankly wasn’t sure she understood Izanami’s plan - something about stealing magic, which seemed bad. She certainly didn’t understand the fancy stuff that went into the circle. But she was a villainess, and she had to be stopped; it was as simple as that.
Hikari charged into the circle, and slamming her staff down into it’s center and discharging the magical blast. There was a flash of purple, and the street cracked, and the circle with it. Then, there was a thunderous BOOM as the world went white.
Hikari groaned as her vision cleared, pushing some debris off of her body. The last thing she remembered was the big boom… she looked around, seeing that the street had been utterly wrecked. Izanami was nowhere to be seen, but her circle was completely gone, and that probably meant that her spell had been interrupted.
A buzzing on her side drew her attention. Hikari blinked, taking out her phone - she wasn’t sure where from, actually, her magical girl outfit didn’t have any pockets, but it sort of always appeared when she looked for it. Convenience! “Hello?”
“I’m going to guess the artillery barrage downtown was you,” said a mature female voice.
“Artillery barrage? I didn’t hear any cannons-”
“I meant the magical blasts.”
“Oh. Yeah that was me. Sorry, Miss Nakano.” Hikari said. Natsuki’s mom could be a bit… intense, when she wanted to be, so Hikari was a bit worried she’d step on a landmine.
“I thought you already cleared out a villain today. Working yourself overtime, hm?”
“Oh, no, this one’s minions went after me.” Hikari said, “I had to leave Natsuki on the road on the way here…”
“Yeah, she’s the one that called me before I started hearing it myself.” Miss Nakano said. “What was it this time?”
“Sci fi shrine maidens and a dark magical girl claiming to be draining the city of magic.”
“That’s a bit different then usual. You got her?”
“Well, she’s not here anymore… I’ll call you if I see her.” she said, then ended the call before Miss Nakano could put her on patrol duty or something.
“Huh, she got away?” Hikari muttered to herself, brushing herself off. “That wasn’t so bad. Catastrophic backfire my butt, she just didn’t want me to stop her, ehehe~” She brushed some hair out of her face, and turned back down the street. She figured Natsuki wouldn’t have gone too far… wait, her hair was black, why was she brushing white out of her eyes?
Looking at a puddle created by a fire hydrant being damaged, she noticed that her black hair now had a white streak that hadn’t been there before. “Huh… that’s odd…” She shrugged, and went on her way, shooting off a text to Natsuki to ask where to meet up.
As she walked, she felt a bit weird, but didn’t think much of it - probably just a bit of the backlash from the blaast hitting her. It didn’t feel that bad though, honestly. She didn’t pay attention to how her hair continued to turn white, or how her magical girl uniform had started to darken in color.
When she saw her friend waiting on a corner, she tried to wave at her and call out, but neither her arm or mouth would move to her command. “Hey, what gives?” she tried to say, but her mouth didn’t move.
“I told you there would be consequences…” A voice echoed from everywhere, and nowhere, at once. It was one she hadn’t heard too long ago - the voice of a certain missing villainess…
--------------------
Izanami could not have possibly expected that, of all the magic users in the city, the most powerful one she ran into would also be the dumbest. Blasting the magical circle apart so haphazardly, it was astonishing that the damage had been limited to minor environmental and it’s backlash on it’s caster.
Izanami had had roughly two seconds between the crack and the blast to prepare herself - the backlash blew her body apart. Not, strictly speaking, killing her, but converting it into pure magical energy. As the blast cooled down, she had to find the nearest available body - and that happened to be that idiot Hikari’s body. She’d honestly expected it to be unoccupied, possibly killed in the blast or else having her own soul ripped out by the backlash, but she was completely fine! Life just wasn’t fair sometimes.
So she’d slipped herself into the body, and… not been able to do anything, since Hikari was still in there. Annoying. She let Hikari think she was gone as she went about figuring out where she was and a bit of debrief, as she gathered her power some more. A lot of it had been expended in the circle, but she would have enough to seize control, she was pretty sure.
The idiot girl didn’t even notice she’d lost control, as Izanami gently and quietly took control. She reveled in the suspense, in her cunning, as she took over Hikari’s walk with barely a hitch in her step. By the time Hikari tried to do something more complicated than walking, she was completely in control, with the magical girl just a hitchhiker. “I told you there would be consequences…” she told the other girl in her body. Because as far as Izanami was concerned, it was hers now.
“Oh hey, you didn’t get blown to bits! Good for you.” Hikari said in an agonizingly cheerful tone.
Izanami sighed. “I sort of did. Well, blown to magic, but same difference. And after that I had to-”
“Oh, are you alright?”
“Let me have my evil monologue!” Izanami snapped. “Anyway! I had to take your body! Your soul is surprisingly strong to not have fled rather than share, but you’ll have to get used to this!”
“Well that’s kinda rude.” Hikari said, fuming.
Izanami rolled her eyes, but spared a response, searching through the body’s memories for who this girl she was approaching was… Natsuki Nakano, daughter of a high up official in the government organization monitoring and supporting Magical Girls. Excellent. She’d make a perfect first new minion, after the last batch had their connections severed.
Izanami approached the young woman, hand held hi. “Natsukiiii~” she called, waving cheerfully and wanting to vomit.
Natsuki turned, and grinned. “Hikariii!” She said, waving. Izanami had to stop herself from lasting. She was falling for it! She was- “Ooooh, did you get minion’d? Are you here to do it to me too~? Such a good friend~”
Izanami blinked. Hikari, in the back of her mind, was giggling. “What the hell is she talking about?” she snapped to Hikari mentally, before turning her attention back to Natsuki. “I, uh, what are you talking about?” she managed.
Natsuki rolled her eyes, although she was still grinning. “White hair, black uniform. Talking to yourself. Bigger boobs, bigger butt. Also some huuuuge dom energy that you don’t usually have.”
“...Damnit, I wish I could control that part of the possession.” Izanami grumbled. “But you have one thing wrong! I’m not Hikari! She’s not home anymore, I am Izanami Ishikawa! And you, my dear, will be the first of my new minions!”
“Oh, a possession type thing, cool!” Natsuki said with a smile.
“Oh, she’s kinda weird sometimes. But she’s super nice!” Hikari cheerfully reported.
“Is Hikari still hanging around in there? Can you tell her I said hi?” Natsuki asked, getting entirely closer than Izanami was quite comfortable with.
“Hiiiiii~!” Hikari called.
“Shut up!” Izanami shot back at her, then to Natsuki. “As much as it pains me, yes, and she says hi. You’re remarkably calm about your imminent brainwashing.”
“Oh, if Hikari’s in there it’s all good~ This sort of thing happens all the time, and it’s always super hot. What is it this time? Lustful kiss brainwashing? A mask that pushes all the identity out of me and rewrites it for your needs?”
Izanami blinked. “Uh… if you saw my minions earlier…”
“Oh, mask it is then! Oh, can I suggest maybe black and red instead of white and red? For a bit more of a visual link to you. It’s always the hottest when the minions have some visible connection to their owner, like the color scheme or a species change-”
Izanami stared at the girl as she rambled into a lecture about the “best” types and styles of minion and brainwashing. “Is… is she like this all the time?” Izanami asked Hikari.
“She’s something of a connoisseur. She tries to get villains to take videos once they get her.” Hikari said back. She, oddly enough, didn’t seem all that worried about Izanami being in control of her body.
“...Is everyone in this world a fool? I am beginning to suspect it.”
“You really shouldn’t be rude, you’re basically a guest here.” Hikari fumed.
“...Why does your world have a high enough concentration of transformative magic for that to even happen? Why are you so… unconcerned?”
Hikari gave the mental-speaking equivalent of a shrug. “I’ve been transformed and mind controlled a dozen times, I’m used to this kinda thing. First time I get to watch though, so that’s kinda cool.”
Izanami sighed, and reached out a hand, summoning a blue, face-concealing mask. It formed nearly instantly, causing her to raise an eyebrow. How much power did this girl have? That should have taken minutes, not half a second!
Shaking that thought away, she turned to the girl still jabbering away, and pushed the mask onto her face. “Ooooh, this is one of my favori-” she was cut off, stiffening in place as the mask did it’s work.
--------------------
Natsuki was, in simple words, a transformation connoisseur. A slut for submission. A massive pervert. She was not subtle about this, often debating the merits of various styles of transformation and mind control with online friends and fantasizing about being dominated and having her body molded to her new owner’s will. It was, admittedly, a bit of an embarrassing interest, but her best friend since childhood Hikari Himura had never once judged her for it. And had more than once played out that fantasy after being minionized herself, which was bonus points.
Ever since Hikari had become a magical girl, and her mother had told the both of them about her former profession, Natsuki had been throwing her all into supporting her friend. The first thing she’d done was not think about how to hide it, but to take Natsuki to the roof and tell her “You, me, flying, right now”, transform, and take her for an aerial tour of Matsushita City. They had no secrets. Occasionally, this might mean that a villain coming for Hikari would come for Natsuki first - but well, she was already a target because her mother ran Magical Girl Command and Dispatch, and she saw it as a feature not a drawback. Tapping into her mother’s connections, she’d managed to get a decent number of magical artifacts that let her directly help out Hikari when given the time to acquire them.
Of course, she had left them at home today and hadn’t been able to help Hikari too much against those nurse-themed villains earlier nor against the high tech shrine maidens - but honestly, Hikari didn’t actually need her help, she just liked having her there. So she’d kept on her way, staying close enough that Hikari could come and find her no matter the results of the fight. The mikos had disappeared - she’d seen one, disappointingly, fall over right before masking her - so she’d assumed she won the fight, but as she saw her coming over with white hair and black clothes she figured out pretty quick something weird was going on.
Once she had that all cleared up though, everything was fine! She was about to get minion’d, and better than usual since she was the first target so she’d get to be in charge! She hadn’t seen the mask coming, but once it slammed onto her face she welcomed it.
She stiffened as the magic slid into place, the mask doing it’s job. Usually, she liked to put up a struggle, if not a very convincing one. But well, when it was Hikari (or whoever she’d been transformed into) doing it, it was difficult to work up the will to do so - and even if she had, this was an expertly crafted mask. She felt her will to fight drain almost instantly as a hum of white noise filled her ears, extolling the virtues of serving Mistress as if she needed any convincing.
As the conditioning worked her over into a perfect servant, her clothes changed. White fabric turned black and red as her school uniform ripped itself apart and reformed itself. Her long brown hair was tied up in a ponytail while her figure was given a bump - Mistress deserved the sexiest servants, after all~! As her bottom and bust expanded, the clothing reformed into a nearly skin-tight black and red uniform covered in arcane symbols. It resembled that of a shrine maiden, if instead of traditional robes they wore sci-fi looking skintight equivalents.
As her transformation completed, the mask switched on. She could still see out of it despite the lack of external features, and her view was filtered through a slight pink spiral meant to keep her submissive. Of course she was naturally, so this wasn’t that needed… but she loved to play it up, so she let it bring her voice to the neutral tone it wanted from her. She saluted sharply. “A pleasure to serve Mistress Izanami.” she said, her blank drone tone covering for the fact she felt a shock of pleasure at words.
Izanami smiled, examining her and inspecting. “Good~ You’ll be my chief servant, I believe. After the fool who this body used to belong to interrupted my ritual, I’m going to have to get magic from this place the old fashioned way.” Izanami snapped her fingers.
The mask's insistence on neutrality waned, as Izanami “activated” Natsuki’s personality. A smiley emoticon appeared on the mask’s outer display. “Yes Mistress! You’ll rule the place in no time~” Oh goodness that felt good.
“Come, my lovely slave - it’s time to-” Izanami cut off abruptly, standing stock still.
“Mistress?” Natsuki asked, cocking her head. Her display showed a warning message - something was going on with Mistress.
Her entire palette was shifting - starting from the edge of the black streak in her hair (which itself was turning white), it’s color was changing back to Hikari’s natural black. Her outfit, similarly, seemed as if someone had dripped white paint on it as it sporadically returned to Hikari’s original style. Her bust lost a cup size and her bottom seemed to return to it’s former size, admittedly to some slight disappointment from Natsuki.
“Oh hey, I’m back in control!” Hikari - and it definitely was Hikari, from the tone - said suddenly. She looked off into space a bit. “What? No I didn’t do anything. I have no idea why you lost it. Maybe you’re just bad at possession?” She paused. “Mom said not to use that kind of language. No I’m not a small child.”
“Mistress?” Natsuki asked again.
“Oh, hi Natsuki!” Hikari turned and waved, and back into space. “...I dunno, maybe you ran out of power? But well, you’re not gone, and I’m not.”
“...Maybe you’re kinda stuck together? Is Mistress alright in there, Hikari?”
“Oh, Izanami’s fine.” Hikari said. “She says she just ran out of juice. I guess my body has more magical power than she’s used to, so it drains her super fast to take control.” she shrugged.
Natsuki’s face mask-emote turned into a
for happiness. “Oooh, does that mean I get to have both a bestie and a mistress? That sounds great~” Natsuki was already drawing up plans for what she’d do when Izanami next took control - she was going to be the first victim a lot, so best be prepared for it.
“I dunno, if she’s only taking control for minutes at a time I’m not sure how either of us does anything…” Hikari blinked, and then frowned. “No, what are you talking about, I’m not gonna force you out of my body!” Izanami must have been talking to her then. “I’m accidentally responsible for wrecking yours, I can at least let you hang out here, I just don’t think constantly grappling for control is good…”
“If your chief minion can have a suggestion…” Natsuki said, more to Izanami than Hikari. “Maybe just… don’t take control constantly? Build up your power for a bit, then take control when you’ve got enough for a few days. Then Hikari’s got it for a few days. Sharing is better than nothing, right?”
Hikari paused, then spoke to Natsuki. “...Izanami said your suggestion makes annoying amounts of sense.”
“Oh, sorry Mistress, I’ll get less smart.”
“She can’t tell if you’re serious or not.”
“I am, obviously.”
Natsuki gently directed Hikari towards her home, and started them walking. She had a feeling that things were going to be a bit… weird, in the near future…
