Min and Carol lay entangled in bed.  Min was panting softly, but Carol didn’t actually need to breathe.  She cuddled Min close.  “That was amazing.  You make a wonderful woman, Min.  Can’t we keep you like this?”

Min giggled tiredly.  “Whenever you like.  Max gets workdays.”

Carol sat up, pulling Min into her lap.  “Oh yeah, that.  Are you really a different person?  Where’d you come from?”

Min wriggled around fetchingly until she could look up into Carol’s eyes.  “Something about the Venn Machine, I guess.  You know how bodies come with appropriate reflexes, if you relax into it?”

Carol nodded slowly.  “You’re a lot more than reflexes.  You seem like an entirely different person.  Max would never have done half what you just did.”

“You’re wrong.  Max would have, if you’d asked.  I guess I’m less willing to wait around, because...”  Min’s brow furrowed in concern.  “I’m not really... real.  If Max walks into a Venn Machine and gets restored... poof.”

“But you’d come back if we venned Max back to this body, right?  You know he loves this.”

Min sighed softly.  “Does he?  What if he decides in a few months that he wants inflatable boobs instead of these squishy...”  Min grabbed her chest and compressed it flat.  Her eyes glazed over momentarily.

“She’s right, you know,” sighed Max a moment later.  “I’m going to want bigger breasts at some point.”

Carol smirked.  “This is not a surprise.  But... what would that do to Min?”

“I can’t be held hostage by her.  She’s sweet, and... familiar.”  Max opened his arms, and reached up for a hug, but it was Min who curled up in Carol’s arms.

“This is scary,” whispered Min.  “Max wants to experiment.”

“Do you want this hanging over your head?” asked Carol gently.  “There isn’t any good reason to rush, we’re both venned for three years.”

Min ducked her head.  Then she yawned hugely, ending on a cute little squeak.  “Sorry.  It’s late.  Can we sleep on this?”

Carol kissed her on the top of her head.  “Of course.  Goodnight, love.  Loves.”

In the morning, a smiling Min kissed Carol to wake her.  “Ready for a new day?”

“Are you?” asked Carol softly.

“Yeah.  Whatever happens, I know you and Max love me.  Maybe I’m a velveteen rabbit, and it’s love that makes me real.”

Carol chuckled.  “I haven’t thought about that story in forever.  But if that works, then yes, you are very real.”

After they’d showered, Carol made breakfast.  She pouted in disappointment when her husband walked into the room dressed like a man.  “No more Min?”

Min giggled in her higher-pitched register.  “I’m still here.  Max thought it’d help if I got used to this mode, too.”  She clicked her throat, and her voice deepened.  “Oooh.  I kind of like how this sounds.  What do you think?”  She pirouetted and posed in an exaggeratedly feminine way.

“Confusing.  I’m going to call you by the wrong name a lot, I can tell.”

“I’ll try not to hold it against you,” giggled Min, before tapping her throat again to return her voice to her higher register.  “Is this better?”

“Yes,” agreed Carol.  “As long as your voice matches the person in charge, I’ll at least have some clue.”

Min murmured to herself for a time, then nodded.  “Okay!  Despite the fun we could have messing with you, we’ll be good.  About that.  No promises about anything else.”  Min giggled and winked at Carol.

“So you’re going to the mall like that?  Okay.  I suppose we need to return the dresses anyway.”

Min snuggled up against Carol.  “Yep.”

Carol scooped Min up in her arms.  “I can work with this.  You’re way more cuddlesome than Max is.”

Min nuzzled in for a happy kiss that ended up distracting them from breakfast for some time...

Melissa was bouncy and bubbly after being returned to human, hugging both of them and gushing at how ‘cute’ Min was as a guy.  The clerk, who insisted on going by “Dress” even after they changed her back, was quieter, more thoughtful.  Once the four of them had returned to Fantasy Emporium, she went to the desk and asked for an inventory form.

Carol put a hand on her arm.  “Are you sure?  Because if you do this, I will buy you.”

Dress nodded.  “Last night was...  Something about the dancing, I started to believe I really was just a dress.  I forgot about being human, about bills and annoying customers, how legs and arms work.  I forgot about sight.  And I find... none of these things compelling.  Do I make the world a better place?”

Min moved to her other side.  “That’s the club talking.  Something about what they’re doing there messes with your head, makes you lose track of your original self.  Did that happen to you, Melissa?”

Melissa shook her head.  “I don’t think so.  I’ve spent a lot of time hanging around or lying around as a dress, and learned to sort of zone out when nothing’s happening.  Just... be the dress, you know?  It’s nice, but...  Being human has upsides, too.”

“Such as?” asked Dress.

“Food.  Let’s get some coffee and a bagel into you before you sign your life away.”

Dress bit her lip and started to nod slowly.  “I could go for some coffee.”

Min grinned.  “I’m buying.  Well, Max is.  When do you need to be back here?”

Dress shrugged.  “No shift today, I didn’t know if I’d be back in time for it.”

Melissa led the way to the food court, and Max emerged to pay for coffee as promised.  He also helped to counsel Dress against giving up on being human, as his time as Min had given him some perspective on the problem.  The most persuasive argument was when Max pulled her into a dancing grip, and waltzed with her to the mall’s ambient music.

“Okay, I’ll admit, dancing as a human has its upsides.”

Max bowed to her with a flourish.  “Glad I could be of service.  So what is your name?”

“Dress...  Okay, fine, it’s Darlene.  Still tempted to change it.”

“Really?  Why?”

Darlene explained that the shop had a pool of inventory-clerks, who spent part of their downtime on the rack.  Most of them only venned for a few days to a month at a time, and got changed back whenever they were needed for a shift.  “I’ve been tempted for a while now.  I don’t have a lot of stuff, and my folks would store it in their basement if I asked.  Living alone sucks, and I’d get to avoid all that.”

“Sounds good,” agreed Melissa.  “If Min’s closet doesn’t work out for me after I graduate, I might give that a try.”

Max chuckled.  “We’ll see.  Are you going to follow us around all day, or go hang with your friends?”

Melissa shrugged.  “You guys are way more interesting.”   Danielle nodded her agreement.

Their two ducklings in tow, Carol and Max did a little more shopping, expanding on Min’s wardrobe.  At Danielle’s suggestion, they tried finding some dress shirts for Max that were snug enough to hide his breasts without a compression top.  Some worked.  Others showed nipples a bit too readily when Carol played with the contents of her purse.

“Did you have to bring that along?” groaned Max, after the third experiment.  “It’s just so...”  Max sighed at Carol’s grin.  “You like this kind of control, having that part of me tucked away in your purse.”

“Guilty as charged.  I promise I won’t do that while you’re at work.”

“Aww,” said Melissa and Darlene in synch, then giggled.

Max blushed.  “You’d like that too much.  I’d rather go to work fully male, as it were.”

Carol grinned at Max slyly.  “Methinks the lady doth protest too much.”

Max loosened a couple buttons on the shirt he was trying, letting his chest expand to show a little cleavage.  “I’ll have these babies all day.  That’s already a wicked little secret.  And Min will be riding with me, giving colour commentary on my day...”

After they’d bought five of the shirts that worked well to conceal Max’s new assets, the others insisted on getting Min back into “her” outfits.  Once Min had one of her supportive bras on, and one of the day’s other purchases had been used to reinflate her hips, the others studied her look and her poise.

“If it wasn’t for the hair,” mused Melissa.

Before she could go further with that thought, Max clicked his Adam’s apple to male mode.  “No.  I promised my boss I’d keep the same look at work.  Not venning the hair.”

“There are other options,” suggested Carol.  “We could get you a cute wig.  You’d look good with shoulder-length hair like Melissa’s.  Maybe a little redder, though.”

Melissa’s eyes lit up.  “You really think so?”

Carol dragged the two of them in front of a mirror to put Melissa’s hair next to Min.  “Yeah.  See?  It’d be a super cute look for her.”

Both the subjects of her statement blushed.  Then Melissa nodded.  “Okay.  You can have it.”

“Wait, what?”

Melissa led them all toward the Venn Machine.  “C’mon!  We can venn me so my hair’s a wig, then I can give it to you.  It’ll be great!  I’ve always wanted to see what I look like bald.”

Melissa set the machine for three months, and Darlene waved to Phil before hopping in with her.  They were back out again in under a minute, and Melissa already had her wig off.  She danced to the mirror and giggled at her appearance.  “Oooh, nice and shiny.  Thanks!”

“All part of the service,” said Darlene with a grin.  Carol made sure to tip her, and offered to pay Melissa for the rental of the wig.

Melissa demurred, blushing slightly.  “Think of it as a down payment on my promise to be Min’s dress once I graduate.  Make sure you wear it a lot.”

Min accepted the wig from her and tried it on.  It wasn’t the usual warm chestnut colour of Melissa’s natural hair, but instead a vibrant red that matched many of her new dresses.  Once it settled in place, cascading over her shoulders, Min peered at herself curiously in the mirror.  Then her eyes went wide.  “Oh, it’s perfect!  I’ll definitely be making use of it.  Thank you, Melissa, this is a wonderful gift.”

Carol studied Melissa with narrowed eyes.  The teen was watching Min avidly as she played with her new wig and ran her fingers through the hair.  “You can feel all that, can’t you?”

Melissa’s blush deepened.  “Yeah.  It’s...  Really nice.  Think of me like that ribbon?”

Carol chuckled warmly.  “I’ll make sure to include Min’s new wig whenever we have fun.”

“Thanks,” squeaked Melissa.

“And speaking of which, I think I need to drag my sweetie home and ravish her.  Thank you both, it’s been a lovely day.”

Carol scooped a squealing Min up over her shoulder, and marched out of the mall.

Melissa and Darlene waved to them as they left, then Darlene turned to the younger woman.  “Interested in a job at Fantasy Emporium?”

The first thing Max did upon arriving at work the following Monday was to approach his boss.  He did a little turn to show off his new body.  “What do you think?”

“About?”

Max grinned.  “I’ll be sticking with this body for the next three years.”

“Good to hear.  I like being able to find you by your hair.  I should see if the others are willing to colour-code...  Was that all?”

Max nodded.  “Yeah.  There are some changes under the hood, but they’re not easy to spot.  Glad it works for you.”

Max’s boss studied him more closely.  “Hmph.  I hate it when my wife plays that game.  Do I need to know?”

“Nothing that will affect work.”

A dismissive grunt was all the reply Max would get.

The rest of the week was uneventful by day.  Jobs and commutes settled back into familiar routines.  However, the moment the door closed behind Max each night, Carol would meet him with their new air pump and a grin, and before dinner was on the table Min would emerge from the bedroom in another of her new dresses.

Over dinner they would be as formal as could be, with the good silverware out and lit candles on the table.  Min would tell her perspective of Max’s day at work, making it sound amusing and occasionally saucy despite the dryness of the actual work.  Carol reciprocated with tales of her own.

The moment dinner was done, they’d dash for the bedroom, giggling like newlyweds.  They’d do other things rather like they had during their honeymoon as well.  It was during those sessions that Max and Min started to blur together, bouncing back and forth off each other and trading places heedless of whose voice they had, or whether or not they were wearing Max’s detachable penis.

The following weekend, Carol arranged to have a strap-on belt made for Max’s detachable bits, and that proved even more fun.

Not to be outdone, the following weekend Max came home with a shoebox-sized contraption wrapped up with a bow.  After dinner, Carol removed the bow and opened the lid.  She stared down at the collection of gears and pistons in confusion.  “The heck?”

Max grinned.  “After dinner.”  He stayed male that night, for once.  Dinner was a rather more hurried affair...

Once they were in the bedroom, Max set the box on his bedside table, removed his detachable part, and inserted it into a cradle in the contraption.  He then fetched Carol’s translucent doll, and put it in the other half, then flipped a switch.  It took a few tries to get the alignment just so, but once it was right Carol groaned with pleasure.  “They can fuck by themselves?” she gasped.

Max grinned at her, and pulled her into a hug.  “What do you think?”

Carol tossed him onto the bed and showed him very clearly what his innovative new toy was doing to her...

*** *** ***

After that, the toys got left in their box more and more.  On a dare, Max went to work without his bits once, and found the experience remarkable mostly for its lack of impact.  Other than having to sit down to pee, nothing changed.

The change at work was more subtle, and did not depend on what Max had between his legs.  While his working relationship with the other men in the office didn’t change, the women slowly started to treat him differently.  Max noticed the change mostly around the watercooler.  There was a sort of unspoken pattern to the discussions there.  If a couple of guys were talking, the women would get their water and quickly leave, and vice versa if women were chatting.  Once in a while, Min would have a comment to make on the discussion Max was ignoring, and he’d chime in.

At first, that mostly got him surprised looks, but after a while the women started asking his opinion on subjects of interest to them.  Min had ready responses about how cute a new haircut looked, and a better eye for colour than Max had ever shown.  Over time, Max started to reflexively let Min have control any time he was around the women.

It wasn’t until Max got an invite to go out for drinks after work with a gaggle of the women that he realized how much things had changed.  Max hesitated for a moment.  “Are you sure, Gina?”

Gloria looked to the others, who looked almost as surprised as Max had.  “Sure.  You’re practically one of the girls at this point.  I’ll warn you that the gossip can get saucy without the guys around.”

Max raised an eyebrow.  “And I won’t be in the way?”

Gloria shrugged his concern off.  “If you’re worried about that, bring a wig.”

Max giggled.  An actual full-on Min giggle.  “I can do that.  See you Friday.”

Carol laughed when she heard the news.  “Are you going to go out as Min, then?  You’ve been like this for a month now, would it hurt to let them know?”

“You don’t mind me staying out late Friday?” asked Max.

“I’m pretty sure you’re not eyeing them up to replace me,” replied Carol with a grin, as she scooped Max up into the air and swung him around.  “It’s fine.  I would love to see you go out more as Min, and...  Hey, I can come pick you up, and maybe meet the others for a bit?”

Max nodded once he’d caught his breath.  “Yeah, you should totally drop in and visit.  They’re all really nice, once you get to know them.”

After dinner, Carol put Max through a refresher course on applying makeup, with an emphasis on quick touchups.  Min hadn’t been out of the house in a month, and needed the help.

The next day, Max found a cute outfit for Min in his briefcase alongside his lunch, as well as a small makeup kit.  A sticky note on the kit had just a heart and a lipstick kiss from Carol.  Max grinned, and blew a kiss to her in spirit.  Then he had to explain why he was grinning like a fool all through their lunch break.  He stuck with, “Carol did something sweet”.

After work, Max holed up in one of the more private bathrooms, and quickly swapped clothes.  Under the outfit was a carefully folded mass of red curls – Melissa’s wig.  Smiling at Carol’s thoughtfulness, Min adjusted the wig, gave it a quick brush out, then went to apply a little lipstick and blush.

When Min met the other women at the bar, it took several beats before anyone recognized her.  Gloria asked uncertainly, “Max?”

“Min, like this.”  Min smiled back, almost as uncertainly.  “Is this okay?”

Gloria grinned broadly.  “When the hell did you have time to venn?”

Min sat beside her.  “A month ago.  I’m... well, call it modular.  Carol loves me to bits like this, so...”

Gloria nodded, as did others around the table.  “So what does that make you?  Male, female, or...?”

“Yes,” answered Min, with a giggle.  “Both, I guess.”

“I guess this explains where your fashion sense came from,” quipped Sylvia.  “Did your colour vision improve at all?”

Min shook her head.  “Not that I noticed.  I just... started paying more attention to clothes when it became possible to wear them.  Other than the lack of pockets, female clothes are pretty awesome.  So many more colours, patterns, shapes and styles...”

“Yeah, fine, but bras suck,” groused Trina.  She was the best-endowed of the women at the table, and rolled her eyes at the looks she was getting from the others.  “What, it’s true!  They’re uncomfortable, and... what?”

Min was grinning at her.  “I love bras, too.  Comes from being a guy, I guess.  Bras are the pretty wrapping for the best features of a woman.”

“You can say boobs here.  We’re not at work,” chuckled Gloria.

“Fine.  Bras make boobs prettier, which is awesome.  I don’t find them uncomfortable, but that’s because I have boobs that are like foam rubber.  They squish down really easily, and aren’t all that heavy.”

Trina sighed mournfully.  “I wish I had boobs like that.  Maybe a bit smaller, too.”

“There’s a Venn Machine in the mall,” suggested Min.  “We could go there after, set you up with the perfect pair, whatever that means to you.”

Trina looked worried.  “But what if you turn me into something else, instead?”

“You would make a pretty bra,” teased Min.  “I’d wear you.”

Trina looked shocked.  “You would?  I mean...  I don’t know what I mean.  Would you?”

Min nodded sharply.  “I would.  Just for a day.  Then we’d see about getting you set up right, in a body that’ll make you happy.”

Trina took a deep breath, and looked to the others.  “Is that insane?  It seems like a fair trade.”

“It’s only a day,” agreed Gloria.  “You didn’t have any plans for tomorrow, did you?”

“Well... no.  Barry ghosted me last week, so... yeah.  My weekend is free.”

The conversation swirled on to other things, while Min watched Trina.  “Are you okay?” she asked softly.

Trina nodded.  “Yeah.  It’s... a little scary, but you seem nice.”

Min smiled at her reassuringly, and patted her hand.  “It’ll be great.”

“Stepping out on me already?” asked a loud voice from behind Min.

Trina squeaked, but Min just lazily turned around.  “Hey sweetie.  Glad you could make it.  Everyone, this is my wife, Carol.  And in case you hadn’t already guessed, yes, she’s venned to be that big, and that strong.”

Carol flexed, getting appreciative oohs from half the table.  “Evening, folks.  Don’t mind me, I’m just here to drive my sweetie home whenever you’re done.”  She pulled up a chair, and sat in it quite delicately given her size.  The chair protested but held.

Carol’s announcement drew the conversation back to Venn Machines.  Gloria admitted to having used one a couple times with her husband.  Mostly to look younger, but she blushed when she said it.

“Oooh, you’ve done something fun,” enthused Min.  “Spill!”

Gloria’s blush bloomed.  “I... what’s the weirdest thing you’ve been?”

Min pondered that then glanced to her wife.  “Got turned into a lump of putty once.  That was actually pretty fun, especially because I could move a little.  Carol had fun.”

Carol grinned.  “Oh yeah.  More fun to have a person reacting, but that was a good one.  You were squirmy.”

Max blushed, then let Min have control to hide it.  “That was a fun night.  Enough detail for you to share yours, Gloria?”

Gloria chuckled uncertainly.  “That’s... you can do that?”

Min nodded, and made a “go on” gesture.

“We haven’t been that creative.  But... well, Tom likes his girly magazines, and we tried to turn me into one of the women from his favourite.”

“But it went wrong?” offered Min into the silence of Gloria’s hesitation.

“Heh, yeah.  Turned me into a copy of his magazine.  That was a weird afternoon.  I could feel him handling me, and after a while, any touch felt...”  Her gaze went distant.  “He apologized so much afterward, he let me turn him into one of his big boobed girls.”

“Did you get him to turn you into a guy at the same time?” asked Min eagerly.

Gloria shook her head.  “That would have been... hm.  I should suggest that, he did like having tits...”

“You could offer up being his magazine again if he’s reluctant,” suggested Carol.  “It’s possible to enhance the sense of touch when you change someone.  The clerks at Fantasy Emporium can show you how.”

Gloria’s eyes lit up, as did her blush.  “I... did not know that.  I... uh... think I’ll be heading off.  See you all Monday!”

With that, the group largely broke up, each heading their own way.  Trina tagged along with Min and Carol.  Once the others were out of earshot she asked if Min was serious about her offer.  Min nodded, and offered her a ride to the mall.  Trina accepted with a shy smile.  When Carol asked about Trina’s car, Trina said she always took the bus to work on Fridays, so she didn’t have to worry about having a few drinks.

At the mall, faced with the Venn Machines, Trina’s uncertainty grew once more.  Min showed her how the duration selection worked.  Trina tried out the icons, cycling the days and years.  She contemplated the year setting for a long time before settling back to a day.

“Good choice,” said Min once the doors opened.  “No matter what happens, you’ll be normal in twenty four hours.  Does that help?”

“I’m not sure, yet.  Are you really going to wear me?”

Min nodded.  “I’ve worn a person before.  They liked being my dress well enough to volunteer to do it again.  Oh, that reminds me...”  She pulled her wig off, and handed it to Carol.  “Don’t want to lose that.”

“Your wig is a person?” asked Trina, wide-eyed.

Min shook her head, then explained that their dress had venned their hair into a wig.

Trina giggled.  “Could you turn my breasts into a bra?”

“I... have no idea how to do that.  Is that what you want?”

Trina shook her head, and stepped into the Venn Machine.  Min followed into the other side.  “One bra, coming up.”  A few taps later she nodded.  “Very nice.  Ready?”

“What would you do if I said no?” asked Trina.

“How about I turn you into a bra anyway, then pop you back into the machine.  You’ll be a bra for about a minute.”

“Please?”

Min watched the bra flutter to the floor.  “I suppose I should have mentioned that we have to wait on the doors.  It won’t be long now.”

Min scooted around to pick up her prize, then immediately set the Venn Machine for another day.  She dropped Trina in on one side, then leaned in through the other.  “You okay?”

Trina nodded.  “This display is different.  What does it do?”

Min had to think for a bit.  “Oh!  Right, you can bail if you like, or press the green button and we can try again.”

Trina touched the green button, and Min then hopped inside.  “Same as last time?” Min asked.

“I know what to expect, now,” said Trina slowly.  “Did you do the thing that makes it feel nicer?”

“No, I didn’t want to mess with your feelings.  Do you want it?”

Trina bit her lip, then nodded.  “Yeah.  It’ll make the day more pleasant, right?”

Min giggled.  “That it will.”  She murmured to the machine a few times, then her hand hovered over the green circle.  “Ready?”

“Ready.”

Min once again waited for her prize, then made sure to give it extra cuddles after she picked it up.  Carol raised an eyebrow, and Min explained that she’d made her bra extra sensitive.

“Going to wear her tonight, are you?” asked Carol with a grin.

“Definitely.  Show a girl a good time?”

“Always.”

However, instead of driving home, Carol drove them to a familiar building not far from the mall.  The audio cues that led them to Teknomancy the last time were absent, and when they got inside the door the atmosphere was far more subdued than they recalled.  The doorman shrugged when the asked, and suggested they ask the bartender instead.

Inside the club proper, the music was oddly muffled.  Instead of being overwhelming, it was possible to hear each other speak.  There was a deep subsonic thrum filling the room, with a superimposed almost-audible something that teased at familiarity.  Min found it soothing.

The crowd was smaller than last time, but ordering enough drinks to keep the bar staff hopping.  When asked about the strange effects they’d felt the last time they were at the club, the barman just nodded to a blonde off in the corner, who waved back.

Min approached her while Carol picked up their drinks.  “Hi. We were here a month or so ago and the club felt way different.  Loud and bright, and it produced some interesting effects.”

The blonde woman grinned and nodded.  “Did you like it?  I’ve been experimenting with all sorts of ways to poke at venned minds.”  She gestured to the seat across the table from her.  “I’m Joanne.  What would you like to know?”

Carol sat beside Min a moment later, and set a very pink concoction in front of her.  “Max here became very much Min after that night, and our dresses had some interesting experiences too.  I was hoping to do that again.”

Min’s hand went to her chest and the sentient bra under her blouse.  “Oh!  Trina would probably like that.”

Joanne nodded.  “If you’re feeling brave, the disintegration booth could use some more testing.”

“Disintegration?” fretted Min.  “That sounds, uh...”

Joanne giggled and pointed at Min.  “Your face!  It affects mental integration, not physical.  Your body will be fine, but your normal mind gets a little scrambled.  I’ve been trying to refine the effect to make it a little less like a blow to the head, and more like a biofeedback trance.  Interested?”

Min grinned excitedly.  “Yeah!”  She followed Joanne’s gesture to a telephone-booth sized tube standing in the corner.  It had a red door that slid out of the way as she approached, and an orange light above the door.  Min frowned.  “This looks like a prop from Star Trek.”

Joanne’s grin broadened.  “Well spotted.  I skimped on the rest of the dressing, but the door’s design is from ‘A Taste of Armageddon’.  Hop in, and I’ll get it started.”  She held up a tablet as she said that last.

Min stepped inside, and the door closed.  About a minute later it opened again, and Min strolled back to the table.

“Well?” demanded Carol.  “Did it work?”

Min snuggled up beside her.  “Yep.  Max is totally zonked out.  I could feel him fade, it was... weird, but cool.”

“Hmm, if you could feel that, you might be ready for the next part,” said Joanne.  “Imagine that feeling, and push it at him.”

Min’s eyes went wide.  “He’s... wow.  He was sort-of there, but now... nothing.  Total flatline.  Did I just kill him?”

Joanne shook her head.  “Tug the other way.  Gently, too much and he’ll take over again.”

Min sighed with relief as she felt Max’s presence return, then at Joanne’s urging practiced lifting and sinking his consciousness.  “Neat.  Do I need the machine to start this, next time we swap?”

Joanne shook her head.  “You should be able to do it from a standing start, once you’re in control.  The thing is... Max will be able to, too.  Sorry about that, can’t teach one without the other learning, since you’re both the same person.”

Min nodded.  “I get it.  Max isn’t the type, though.  He likes me.”  A moment later her posture changed, and Max touched his throat to change his voice.  “She’s right, but I have a question.”

“Shoot.”

“Can we... pull together, instead?  Integrate, instead of dis-integrate?”

Joanne’s eyes lit up eagerly.  “Oooh, I thought I liked you.  Yes, but both sides have to be completely open to each other.  That’s how I became Joanne.  Used to be Joseph, and my body called itself Anne...  It took us months to get to the point of starting the journey you’re asking about.  Learning to manipulate each other’s consciousness is the first big step.  The most effective thing I found was meditating in sync, opening your minds to each other.  Trying to force it won’t work, you have to kind of drift into sync and practice holding the same thoughts at the same time.”

Max chuckled softly, and smiled up at Carol.  “I can think of other ways to do that.”

Joanne grinned.  “That could work.  Go dance, have fun.  But stay in touch, I want to hear reports on your progress.  I’d like to be able to share this gift with more people, and you’re only the second to try.”

Min and Carol spent an hour on the dance-floor, then decided to call it a night.  As they were leaving, Carol pulled Min close against her body.  “You feel like all Min right now.  Not trying to merge yet?”

Min shook her head.  “Practicing the swapping off, first.  Max is here, feeling everything, but not pushing anything at me.  It’s tricky to get right, but I can still feel his emotions.  He’s happy, enjoying the experience.”

“Experience?”

“Of being a girl, completely.  No male ego in the way, tripping up his enjoyment of dresses and admiring looks.  I’m looking forward to trying it myself, when he’s working.  He gets something out of it that I don’t understand, yet.”

Carol nodded slowly.  “I think I get that.  What do you want to do now?”

“Go home and make love to you.  Both of us, together.”

Carol grinned broadly, then scooped her husband up over her shoulder and jogged all the way to the car.

Back at their house, Carol was naked in a flash, and watched from the bed as Max and Min slowly undressed.  Their motions were smooth and methodical, carefully folding their blouse and skirt and placing them in the hamper before moving on to stockings and panties.  The bra, Trina, stayed on.  Carol was quivering with anticipation when they finally approached the bed.

Min and Max’s lovemaking was slow, but intensely focussed.  Carol held out as long as she could, but after a handful of minutes she roared with pent-up sexual frustration, flipped Min onto her back, and made frantic, vigorous love to her.

Some time later, Min brushed a hand through Carol’s hair.  “Where did that come from?”

Carol sighed apologetically.  “I messed up your experiment.  It felt incredible, but I got so turned on I couldn’t...  Sorry.”

Min patted Carol’s lips.  “No apologies.  That was incredible.  I love being your girl.”

Carol’s eyes lit up.  “Oh?  Max always had...  Oh!  He’s not there, now?”

Min purred happily.  “Nope.  Just me.”

Carol pulled her close.  “Oh, love.  Can you stay like this a little longer?  You feel different, and...”

“I love you too,” murmured Min, snuggling in against her wife.
