My finger stabbed out blindly, hitting another bubble. Opposite me, Vivi was doing the same. We were playing a dangerous game, we could become literally anything. But that was the fun of it. The thrill of it. Would I walk out on two legs? Four legs? No legs? Would I even walk out of the Venn machine? Nobody could know.
"Five," Our third counted down from outside the machine.
I reached out to the side, hoping to hit a more obscure option.
"Four"
I slapped my hand against the interface. I had no idea what it did if it did anything.
"Three"
I opened my eyes just enough to find the glowing green circle.
"Two"
My insides were doing summersaults, but now my outsides were too. I could feel my body shifting. That wasn't right.
"One"
I opened my eyes just in time to see the Venn Machine grow massively around me.
"Zero!"
I fell forwards onto all fours, unable to move a muscle. In front of my face was a transparent glass snout. My body was long, with four short legs. I had horns too, which I could feel just as well as any other part of my body. I wasn’t exactly sure what I had become, but I was certainly made of glass.
A few moments later, in the reflection of my new muzzle, I saw the door open.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I accidentally hit the button too early!"
That was Vivi for you. Behind her, our third was laughing.
