Trust Machines story

Attention: This story is batshit crazy. If you're a squeamish person, don't read it. You have been warned.
Nervously, Sean looked over the table at its cheerfully chattering occupants. Danielle's Thanksgiving Dinner had been a full success. Besides Danielle and him, there were ten more friends attending the table, and between them, the leftovers of their meal, a large turkey which had been provided by him and cooked by Danielle, sat on a platter.
He eyed the served bird's gnawed off bones and got a sinking feeling in his stomach. Probably enhanced by the fact that at least a full pound of the turkey's meat had wandered into his belly over the course of the meal. There had been no other choice, he had to eat of it, just like all the others, to prevent arousing any suspicions. And getting himself to take the first bite without showing any uneasiness had required a tremendous acting effort on his part. That the turkey had tasted truly delicious had been both blessing and curse in this regard.
But truth to tell, after several more bites of the mouth-watering turkey and the sight of his friends diving into it cheerfully, he'd managed to push the turkey's secret to the side and simply eaten it. At the end, he'd even started to enjoy the tender meat. Until now. When he suddenly became aware again of what he'd really eaten.
Sean nearly jumped as his phone started vibrating. The alert! So it had been nearly eight hours. Time for the big gig. He took a deep breath and reached into his trousers to disable the alarm and pull out a flash drive.
So it's finally time... he thought gloomily. And either they'll applaud Josh for this harebrained prank of his... or they'll be furious as hell. Now what's more likely? he sighed, Hopefully, most of them will speak to me again in a month... damn Josh for making me do this!
The entire prank had been Josh's idea, of course. Sean had, naturally, not believed him at first. It had simply sounded too crazy. But then, after some time, he had been forced to acquiesce that Josh was indeed serious. Sean had then asked him what exactly made Josh think that he would help him with the crazy plan.
Complacently, Josh had claimed the favor which Sean still owed him literally saving his ass from a furious ex-girlfriend. And Sean had known that he was well and truly fucked. Either he refused to help Josh. This would, quite probably, shatter their friendship since Josh worshiped the Corleone Principle with near-fanatical devotion. Or he helped him. And risked ticking off all his other friends in a rather spectacular fashion.
In the end, he'd tossed a coin, and the damn coin had decided to favor Josh.
A female voice ripped him out of his dark thoughts. "What's the matter?" Danielle asked him. "Is there something wrong with the apple pie?"
"Um, no, no. The pie is excellent." Sean replied, feverishly thanking Danielle inwardly for the fit occasion. Shit or bust now. he thought and hawked loudly. The chatter all over the table broke off and curios eyes focused upon him.
"And the turkey was excellent as well." he said in a firm voice while standing up. "In fact,-" he continued, "-there's something you should know about the turkey..."
He walked over towards the television set, inserted his flash drive and a few button strokes later, a video started playing. It was obviously shot at Sean's parents' farm, inside what looked like a small barn.
"Hi guys,-" he himself said from the screen, wearing a forced looking smile and waving into the camera. "-it's me, Sean. In fact, you've probably wondered where Josh has been, since he's not attended the dinner. Well, that's wrong. He did attend the dinner. He's actually standing next to me right now."
The Sean on the television pointed to the side and silent horror crept into his friends' faces as they took in Josh's shape.
Oh, well... Sean thought, the turkey's meat in his stomach by now weighing dozens of pounds, Hopefully they'll stay frozen for another eight minutes until Josh is back. If they tear him to shreds first, I may even have a chance to flee and survive... far, far away. I wonder if Australia will grant me asylum...?

"Please!" Sean pleaded through the Venn Machine's interface, "Reconsider this insanity! It's still not too late!" Of course he had not the faintest hopes of his friend reconsidering his decision. For this, Josh had been way too excited by the whole scheme.
Somehow, Josh had realized that Venned people couldn't die. They could, literally, be killed, but they wouldn't die. If their Venned bodies died, they'd simply slip off into unconsciousness until the change was over - after which they would reappear live and kicking again. For Josh, this had been a revelation. One could use this for truly epic pranks!
Only with much effort Sean had been able to convince his friend that "surprising" his friends with a feigned murder or with hideous monsters tearing him to shreds in front of their eyes was a Bad Idea. Especially, since Josh had planned to delegate the slot of murderer respectively hideous monster to him. Sean had not the slightest inclination in becoming a tentacled beast to rend his best friend apart in front of other friends. Not to mention all the problems which would arise when their shocked friends would alert rescue, police and national guard to deal with the abomination inflicting horrors upon their friend.
Sulking, Josh had accepted Sean's logic. But he had steadily continued making plans involving the Venn Machine's 'can't-die' feature until he'd finally found one for which Sean hadn't been able to find any convincing reasons why this scheme was a Bad Idea. Besides being bat-shit crazy and having the potential to seriously tick off all their friends, of course. Sadly, the first reason had never been of any relevance to any of Josh's uncounted other pranks, and for the second - well, if they couldn't appreciate good, black (black as in "inside a black hole black") humor, their loss.
Anyway, his grandiose plan had been to transform him into a turkey, slaughter him, prepare his killed turkey-body for consumption and then deliver it to Danielle who would then (unknowingly of the turkey's true nature) happily prepare him for dinner and serve them to all their friends. After they'd be stuffed to the deckheads, Sean would reveal what, or rather whom they had truly eaten by showing a short video of Josh being slaughtered. According to the plan, moments after the video would finish, their stomach's filling would disappear and a grinning Josh would reappear to harvest the fruits of his spectacular prank.
It was crazy as hell, especially the slaughtering thing, but Josh had been adamant. To Sean's desperate objection that he basically wanted to be killed, and being killed surely couldn't feel good, he'd simply shrugged and explained that a couple of minutes of unpleasantness would surely be worth seeing all their friends' faces after he would turn back.
Sean hadn't been so sure, but there'd been nothing more he could do.
"Why?" Josh asked now back over the interface, grinning widely. "That'll be the greatest of my pranks so far. It'll be truly epic. And what's the problem? I will be a turkey then and turkeys are there to be slaughtered and eaten." Josh giggled. "I think that's gonna be a cool experience of its own, being an animal which's intended for slaughter. It'll offer me totally new insights about my food. Just do it already. Remember, we need to stick to a timetable, or I'll change back too late!"
With his head hanging, Sean admitted defeat. "Okay..." he answered weakly. "Then let's do it." And he pushed the green button.

With clicking talons, Josh stepped out of the Venn Machine and craned his new, flexible neck. It wasn't the first time that he'd changed into an animal, when you were an obnoxious prankster and one of your friends had a terrible fear of snakes you tended to use this fact, but it was the first time that he'd become a bird.
Curiously, he walked closer towards the mirror front next to the Venn Machine and eyed his mirror image appreciatively. A wonderful, proud turkey stared back at him and Josh opened his beak to emit a satisfied gobble.
I have to say that Sean did great... Josh thought while flapping his new wings and turning his avian body in front of the mirror. I do make a fantastic turkey. And I guess that I will make a terrific roast later on as well. He giggled inwardly at the thought and even wondered how his body would look without head and feathers, roasted and propped on a large table, garnished with vegetables. Then he turned and hopped towards Josh, clucking cheerfully.
"Um... you okay with the change?" his friend ask and Josh nearly had to laugh at the reluctance in his voice. Apparently, he was not looking forward to butchering his best friend. Well, it's probably really strange and crazy, that point I have to concede, Josh admitted to himself, But the opportunity is simply too good. I absolutely need to pull this off.
So he gave his friend a happy purr and flapped his wings strongly. His body was too heavy to be able to fly, but he managed to get airborne for short moments and glided off towards Sean's waiting car. After a few yards, he landed again and turned his head, gobbling invitingly, and reluctantly, Josh started to follow him.

"You must be one of the very few animals who have come here knowing what would await them." Sean remarked to his feathered friend. "And probably the only one who's looking forward to being killed and eaten for dinner." he added with a sigh and Josh, who was flapping around the open barn Sean's family used for slaughtering animals, gobbled merrily.
With a shake of his head, Sean checked the camera which he'd mounted on a tripod for a final time and then started recording.
"Hi guys,-" he started, "-it's me, Sean. In fact,..."

"...so for a last proof that this turkey is indeed our friend Josh, he'll answer my questions. Josh-" Sean looked at the turkey, "-if that's really you, gobble three times and flap your wings."
Cheerfully, Josh gobbled three times and flapped his wings. Sean nodded and then took a deep breath. "Okay. After we have clarified this, we'll come to business. By now, you have probably deduced that the turkey you have just eaten was, in fact, our friend Josh. That's right, he has volunteered to become our Thanksgiving meal. Which means that now you will see me butchering him so that Danielle can later on conjure the hopefully delicious dinner you have been enjoying. And don't worry, I'm not sure if you're aware of the fact or not, but a Venned person can't die. So while Josh will soon be roasting in Danielle's oven, he'll be back alive in eight hours."
Josh acknowledged this exclamation with another happy gobble, but deep inside he suddenly felt a little bit anxious. Actually, that's really crazy... he thought a bit shaken. He had been so focused on the later stages of his prank that he had totally displaced the necessity which would precede these. He was actually a turkey, standing in a slaughterhouse, an animal to be killed and then eviscerated for further consumption, to become simple food. It somehow felt... degrading. And scary. Suddenly he had an image of himself lying in a supermarket's fridge in front of his mental eye, a whole turkey without head and legs, just one of dozens of other slaughtered turkeys, to be bought and consumed by a customer.
Don't chicken out now. Josh thought and grinned inwardly at the wordplay. It'll only be a few more minutes of unpleasantness and then you won't feel anything anyway. Come on, you've been so looking forward to your friends' faces.
He looked up and met Sean's gaze. His friend's gaze was practically a beg for him to abort his plan, and that tipped the balance. Ha, you bet I have never chickened out of one of my pranks before! Josh snorted and flapped his wings, catapulting himself on the worktop, his feet's talons scraping and sliding over the smooth metal. It took him a few seconds to obtain a secure stand. Then he ruffled his feathers and looked around, taking in all the tools Sean had already readied for eviscerating him later on this table.
The sight of the sharp knifes which would be used by his friend in a few moments to first end his (current) life and then remove his head, feet, intestines and so on caused a plummeting feeling in his stomach, but nonetheless, he mustered his courage and picked at one of the knifes with his beak, emitting inviting gobbles.
His friend sighed first and then gulped. "Okay, friends." he said towards the camera. "We have demonstrated to you that this turkey is indeed Josh, changed into the shape of a bird by the Venn Machine. But since he's a turkey and since today's Thanksgiving, he'll become our Thanksgiving dinner. As you can see, he's already looking forward to being slaughtered like a normal turkey by me shortly. Isn't that right, Josh?" Josh forced himself to acknowledge with a loud purr. He'd asked Sean to say these sentences before he'd get to work, since he'd imagined that this would leave an outstanding impression with his friends who would watch the video.
Now though he realized that it was, in fact, leaving an outstanding impression on him, in the form of fear bubbling up deep in his mind. But he'd come so far already, he'd pull the whole thing through, and therefore he forced himself to stand still and wait for Sean to begin.
His friend took a cable fixer with one hand and grabbed both his avian feet with another. In the next moment, Josh was hanging upside down from Sean's hands and felt how the cable fixer tied his feet together. Sean had explained to him the exact steps of butchering a turkey, so he had expected this, but now that he was dangling upside down in the air, he suddenly felt really helpless.
Sean carried him through the barn and then suspended him from a hook in the ceiling. Josh was still upside down, and below him, he could see a large canister which exuded an overpowering smell of blood. His turkey instincts wanted him to panic, but he battled them down firmly. Nonetheless, his eyes were fixated on the knife which Sean had in his hand now.
The certainty, that in a few minutes he would be 'dead' (although only for a few hours) had something very unsettling and had he still been able to swallow like a human, he'd have done this. Instead, he simply forced himself to stay motionless. That's actually... mind-boggling... he thought numbly while he hung from ceiling. He was suddenly hyper-aware of his surroundings, of his body, felt every feather and every wisp of wind. I'm really just an ordinary animal short of being slaughtered now...
Sean stepped closer and bowed down to him. "You don't have to do this." he whispered, probably to prevent from his sentence being recorded. "Simply gobble once and I'll let you down and change you back."
A surprisingly large part of Josh wanted to do exactly this, but he kept himself under control. No. he thought, That will be my biggest prank and I will NOT abort it on the finishing line. Therefore he kept quiet. He knew what would be coming next. Sean would use his knife to slice his jugular vein and carotid artery, and he'd bleed to death in a matter of minutes.
Sean waited for another twenty seconds and then sighed. "Okay." he said. "Then I'll start now. We'll see each other in a little more than seven hours then."
Despite hanging upside down, Josh managed a nod, and Sean's hand came forward, firmly fixating his head. His friend seemed to hesitate for a few seconds, the delay doing nothing at all to suppress Josh's qualms, and then he pressed the knife against his neck. Josh braced himself for the pain, but surprisingly, there was none. Instead he felt a chilling coldness all over his throat. Then Sean's hand released him and he stepped away.
Josh just wondered if something had gone wrong when he felt something warm dripping down his neck. In a matter of seconds, the leakage became a steady stream and as some of the liquid flowed over his beak, he tasted blood. His blood. Josh's gaze swerved down into the canister, where it dabbled into a large puddle. Then he looked up again towards Sean who was staring at him with wide eyes. Josh wanted to give his friend a gobble of encouragement, to show him that he was still okay with this, but instead he only managed a faint gurgle.
His vision was becoming narrower and he felt dizzy, lighter. So this is what dying feels like...? a part of his mind reflected numbly and now, finally, his instincts took over. Sean had warned him that this could happen, but it nonetheless surprised Josh. His turkey instincts felt that he was in mortal danger, and the panicked bird took over, flapping his wings violently.
Josh wanted to battle his body into submission again but then felt how his flaps were already becoming weaker and weaker. Shortly, he didn't even have the power to raise his head anymore and stared unfocused down into his blood. Somehow, he felt really calm suddenly. That's interesting... he contemplated while sleepiness started to cloud his mind, a few seconds before I was panicking, but now I'm feeling so... detached. I wouldn't have thought that dying feels so... light... it's almost like...
He didn't finish the thought. Everything became moot, his injury, the prank, everything. There was only peace. His breathing became shallower and his heartbeat weaker. And then, both stopped altogether.
As Sean saw Josh starting to flap violently, like all the other turkeys he had slaughtered during his life, he wanted to abort the whole thing. But of course it was already too late, no matter what he did now, Josh's temporary turkey body would be dead in a few minutes. And therefore he simply forced himself to wait. It had cost Sean tremendous efforts to inflict the life-ending injury on Josh. He had butchered many turkeys in his life. But those had been dumb animals. He had never butchered one which had stared back at him out of intelligent eyes, fully aware of what would soon happen to it. That this specific turkey actually was his friend had made it even harder.
Josh's death struggle, though, had been exactly the same like that of any other turkey whose life had been ended in this barn. After the cut had been placed, he'd looked back at him out of surprised, avian eyes while his life was flowing out of his body and pouring in the canister below him. And after some time, the flapping had started, the turkey's last, desperate struggle to avert the inevitable.
It didn't take long until the flapping became weaker and after a couple of minutes, Josh hung limply from the hook. Sean waited again that time before he went slowly forwards, taking in the sight of his friend. The bird in front of him was clearly dead, hanging motionless and without breathing in the air, only a tiny trickle of blood flowing from the large gash in its neck.
Slowly, Josh realized that 'dying' while being Venned had a catch. He'd expected to simply lose consciousness and regain it when he'd change back. Instead he hadn't. His turkey body had become numb, and there had been some kind of 'transfer' - suddenly, he wasn't feeling like a living being anymore. Which wasn't surprising, after all he couldn't move a single inch of his body and he was neither breathing nor was his heart beating.
No, he definitely didn't feel being alive anymore, but different. As compensation for Danielle's help with some of his Venn-based pranks, she'd changed him into her dress for a couple of nights out in the town. And this was feeling exactly the same like being her dress had felt. With the distinction that he was still able to see. Somehow, his eyes had stayed open as he'd 'died', and now he saw his friend Sean stepping closer, taking in his dead shape.
Oookay... Josh thought incredulously, So now I'm a dead, conscious turkey. Not quite what I had planned for...
Out of the corner of one eye, he saw Sean shaking his head and then he felt how he was taken off the hook. In the next moment, his whole body was submerged in a waiting bucket of hot water and for the next few minutes, Josh didn't see anything anymore.
Well... according to Sean, the water should be 140° F hot... he contemplated. I'm feeling it on my body, but it doesn't hurt. Apparently, dead turkey's can still feel but don't have pain receptors. he had to grin inwardly at the thought, although it was a nervous grin. That's quite reassuring when I'm thinking about what's going to follow...
This time, Josh didn't get a sinking feeling in his stomach at the prospect of being butchered. He was dead, after all, and dead turkeys apparently don't have control over their stomachs anymore. But when he'd devised his plan, he hadn't factored in that he'd practically be fully conscious when he'd be eviscerated, cooked and eaten. It was a good thing that he wasn't feeling any pain, but he still didn't look forward to the experience.
Then he felt himself being taken out of the bucket and deposited upon the table, his neck dangling down over the edge so that he couldn't see anything besides the floor.
Plucking time I guess... he thought glumly.
Still a bit incredulous, Sean looked at the garbage bin into which he had just deposited Josh's head. It was the natural thing to do with a slaughtered turkey, but barely an hour ago, he had looked into this turkey's intelligent, alive eyes, listening to its beak happily gobbling confirmation that it did indeed house his friend's Josh's mind. For all intents and purposes, it was Josh's head. It had been a living, sentient being which was his friend less than an hour ago and now he was eviscerating it like it was another dumb animal to be consumed by humans. It simply felt wrong that he was treating it like any normal turkey's head.
Drop it! he ordered himself while fighting down nausea, It's only temporary and he wanted this. So simply treat him... it now like any of the other turkeys you've slaughtered over the years!
Doggedly, he forced himself to continue working on the turkey, proceeding with cutting off its feet.
That this turkey was, or rather had been his best friend Josh was absolutely unthinkable. And yet it was true. Slowly, he raised the cooking-ready turkey up after the final rinsing and presented it to the camera. "As you can see, I've finished slaughtering and eviscerating Josh." he said hoarsely. "Right now I'm cooking him to make sure that his meat will stay tender. And after that, I'll deliver him to Danielle where he will be roasted and then served to dinner."
Then he boxed the camera and started collecting his stuff. Once Josh would be cooked, he'd put him into a plastic bag and then drive to Danielle, delivering her the fresh turkey. Afterwards, he'd go home and edit the video for Josh's great gig this evening.
**************************************************
**************************************************
**************************************************
Sean put Josh onto the worktop, staring at his limp, dead turkey shape for a moment.
You've really done it... he reflected, still unbelieving of what he'd done, You have really killed your best friend. It's only temporary but you have still killed him. And now you'll even eviscerate his corpse...
He shook his head, took a deep breath and then went to work. He forced himself to think of Josh's dead body in front of him only as a 'turkey', not as his transformed friend, and this was working surprisingly well.

That Josh wasn't able to feel pain was a blessing, but it was still far from being enjoyable getting his feathers being plucked out one after the other. And lying directly on the cold metal, without his feathers to warm him, made him feel... naked. But then, Sean was grabbing his neck and for the second time this day, there was cold metal pressed against Josh's throat.
Uh, oh... Josh thought as he felt a sawing motion penetrating deep into his body. It took some time during which his vision was madly swaying back and forth, and silently, Josh thanked that he couldn't get dizzy in his current state anymore. Still, the sensation of the saw rasping through his spine was very disturbing to say the least. The vibrations traveled through his whole body until, finally, something snapped and he 'saw' himself being moved. Or not. His body was still lying on the table. Motionlessly. His head, with his eyes, on the other hand, was in Sean's hands - and definitely further away from his body than his neck should have allowed.
So that's how it feels to be beheaded... he gulped inwardly at the entirely unnatural movements his head suddenly made.
Sean stared into Josh's dead eyes for a few seconds, and Josh wished that he could somehow tell his friend that he was still conscious. But since he was only a carcass now, and a beheaded one to boot, he couldn't - and therefore had to wait for the perils to come. Sean seemed to ponder for a moment, eventually sighed, shook his head and then, Josh suddenly felt himself flying through the air. Or rather, his head was flying through the air. His body was still safely on the table. In the next moment, his head impacted against a large barrel's metal and then tumbled to its bottom.
I can't believe it... Josh thought numbly while one one of his eyes looked at the ceiling and the other at the ground. He has cut off my head and thrown me into the garbage bin like any normal turkey leftovers! Somehow, I've imagined the whole thing differently...

**************************************************
**************************************************
Josh's head hadn't been the only thing which had landed in the garbage bin. Shortly thereafter, his feet had followed, getting these removed not the slightest bit more pleasant than getting his head cut off before had been. The tearing sensations afterwards when Sean had cut him open and started to rip his innards out had been just as bad. Not to mention that, after a while, Sean had dumped the slippery mass of Josh's intestines into the garbage bin as well - landing directly on his severed head.
He had nearly freaked out as he'd suddenly been covered by his own, bloody guts, but there had been nothing he could have done. At least they were covering his eyes so that he couldn't see anymore. In the garbage bin, he'd only been able to stare at the ceiling anyway, and with his sight obscured and his 'leftovers' not being moved, they'd more or less become 'invisible' to him. He wasn't actually feeling his removed body parts in the bin anymore, instead, all his alertness was focused on his main body, without feathers, innards, feet and head.
Finally, Sean seemed to finish his work and Josh felt himself being dumped into water again, only this time bubbling water - his friend was cooking him! He was preparing him for all the new kinds of horrors which would now undoubtedly follow, but to Josh's surprise, nothing of the like happened. Instead, being cooked felt even good... somehow. With all the energized, bubbling water massaging and stroking his body, soft-boiling his flesh... It was, strangely enough, similar to how sitting in a sauna felt...
I wonder... he reflected with sudden hope, If being boiled feels good, will being roasted... and being eaten feel good as well?

Sean contemplated the turkey which was submerged in the boiling water. It looked exactly like all those other turkeys he had prepared or seen in the supermarket, and in fact, its rich, fat meat looked downright delicious.
**************************************************
A thrill of anticipation went through Josh's mind as he felt the platter upon which he was enthroned being put down onto a table. All the previous unpleasantness and horror of being able to perceive the evisceration of his body was forgotten by now.
After Danielle's soft hands had tended his meat, probably seasoned, flavored and garnished him, he'd gotten the answer to his previous question. Being roasted hadn't felt as good as being cooked. It had felt awesome!
The sensation of the heat slowly changing his body's structure, denaturing the proteins in his flesh, turning his skin into a fat-glistering, crispy dream... he'd nearly lost himself in the blissful feelings, and as Danielle had taken him out of the oven again, he'd been disappointed.
I think I would have needed another five minutes, then I'd have been perfectly roasted... Josh reflected now a bit sullenly. But he didn't dwell long with this sentiment. After all, the real bliss was still forthcoming. By now, he had no doubts whatsoever anymore whether being eaten would feel good. If being roasted already felt this spectacular, then being eaten must surely be mind-blowing!
Oh Lord, it's starting! he thought excited as he suddenly felt a knife penetrating his body. It went through his flesh in a sawing motion, and then part of his meat was separated, deposited on a table. Contrary to the previous cutting of his body parts, this time it wasn't unsettling at all. His flesh was tender and soft now, almost welcoming the knife going through it. One after another, more pieces of him were cut away and after a couple of minutes, he was in thirteen different pieces, one still large and twelve smaller.
The suspense nearly killed Josh and if he had still been alive, he'd have begged his friends to already start eating him. Which they did eventually, even without him prompting them. All of a sudden, knifes and forks penetrated his apportioned body, cutting it in even smaller pieces, and then, he felt several small parts of him lifted into warm cavities, being chewed and finally swallowed.
It was sensational. Pure and utter bliss. Everything was happening simultaneously. He was in several different mouths, on several different tables, being chewed and cut at the same time, and for the time being, Josh simply lost himself in ecstasy.

Sean couldn't quite believe it. The big turkey on the platter in the middle of the table, Josh actually, was steadily disappearing. His friends were cheerfully diving into it, praising Danielle's cooking and Josh's turkey breeding from time to time, and nobody had the slightest clue that they were actually eating their friend.
With difficulty, he managed to keep himself from shaking his head and looked down on his table where, next to potatoes and other vegetables, a large piece of turkey meat was lying. Or rather - a large piece of Josh.
"What's the matter?" Danielle asked him from the side and Sean nearly gave a jerk. "Are you not hungry? Come on, the turkey's sensational!"
"Um... yeah, right, I'm only a bit in thoughts..." Sean mumbled and slowly started cutting off a piece of meat. He studied it for a short moment, then gulped, closed his eyes and popped it in his mouth. It was like a revelation. The taste was sensational, and his jaw started chewing all on its own.
Oh... wow... Sean thought while swallowing. He's... it's really tasty. Fuck that, he's the best turkey I've ever eaten!
His slips curled in the hint of an sardonic smile while he started cutting on the next piece. Well... he contemplated, Since my friends will undoubtedly flay me alive once I've explained them what or rather whom they've really eaten, this will probably be my last meal. And for that, it's actually not too shabby. Quite the contrary, actually...
Sean popped another piece of turkey into his mouth and chewed appreciatively. It's quite a downer that it's actually my best friend, but well, one can't have everything...

Everything has an end, this also applied to Danielle's Thanksgiving dinner, of course and slowly, very slowly, Josh managed to think clearly again. He was still feeling the incredible bliss in the back of his mind, but it was getting smaller. By now, nobody was chewing anymore. Instead, he felt 'himself' settling down in twelve different stomachs.
Of course there were still bits and pieces of him left all over the dinner table. Cartilage and bones especially, collected in a large heap on the platter on which he'd been served. But since nobody was moving or touching these anymore, he didn't feel them any more than he felt his legs, innards and head which were still lying in the garbage bin at Josh's place.
They were still there, but they were... unimportant was probably the best word to describe it.
Instead he savored now the sensation of being in twelve stuffed stomachs at once, slowly being digested. It felt different than being eaten, but not less spectacular - or good.
Too bad that it'll be over soon... he thought disappointed. Several of the stomachs in which he was residing had just started to clench a bit, probably a sign that their owners were viewing something unsettling.
On the other hand... the look on their faces will be spectacular, I bet. That's something awesome to experience in its own right. And after all, it's the reason why I did all of this in the first place...
And therefore, Josh decided to simply wait until this incredible experience would be over - to reap the fruits of his spectacular prank.

As the video finished playing, stunned silence prevailed in Danielle's living room. He hadn't shown them the whole record, instead he'd cut it down to important parts - the explanation of the prank, the actual slaughtering, the plucking, the removal of Josh's head, feet and intestines and finally the sight of his eviscerated body which he had delivered to Danielle.
The hostess was the first who found her voice again. No wonder, she was one of the more radical Venn users herself, frequently spending time as other people's clothing.
"Are you telling me-" she asked Sean with a dangerous tone and a purple face, "-that you have killed Josh and that we have subsequently eaten him?"
Sean winced as Danielle's scathing tone registered. His eyes flew to the clock. Only a few seconds until Josh would be back, but he didn't have a few seconds. If he didn't answer Danielle now, the girl would flay him alive.
"Actually, I have slaughtered a turkey and you have eaten a turkey." he stammered helplessly, counting the seconds down in his head. "It only happened to be that Josh was the turkey, but it still was a real, actual turkey, indistinguishable from other turkeys you have eaten over-"
"We have EATEN Josh whom you have SLAUGHTERED before?" Danielle blazed again and pointed at the heap of turkey bones on the table. "And THAT'S Josh's skeleton as well?"
He started to reply something again as, thankfully, Josh's transformation time expired. And from one moment to the next, the heap of bones disappeared. Just as Josh's stuffed stomach. In compensation, there was suddenly one more human in the room. Josh blinked, oriented himself and then grinned at his friends around the table.
"Hey folks." he said jovially. "Was I delicious?"
He received a cacophony of stunned, aghast stares. For approximately ten seconds, nobody said a word. Then the loud crash of a falling over chair pierced the silence and one of the girls darted out of the room, green-faced and hands pressed in front of her mouth.
"Hey, no need to puke!" Josh called after her. "I'm already out of your stomach!"

**************************************************
Josh grinned inwardly. But then he shoved these thoughts to the side. Instead, he focused upon the task at hand. After all, there was probably more to this dinner than it seemed. He'd gotten Danielle's invitation on very short notice, therefore he hadn't been able to prevent Sean and her from executing their plan to get back at him they'd probably hatched. By now, he regretted that he hadn't told anyone how terrifying an experience being slaughtered and eviscerated had really been, but now it was too late anyway. And to compensate for the unpleasantness which had been inflicted upon hapless Sean, the least he had been able do had been eating as much of the meat Danielle had offered him as his stomach had managed to hold, to make sure Sean got every bit of the sensual experience he himself had gotten out of being eaten.
"So now that I have eaten... why don't you drop the bombshell on my now?" he asked complacently. There were appearances to maintain, after all.
The girl raised an eyebrow. "Bombshell? What are you talking about?" she replied innocently and Josh chuckled again.
"Oh, please!" he said with a large grin. "Your invitation came just a bit hasty. And I noticed that you didn't eat one of those fabulous steaks you served me. Let me guess..." he acted as if he was thinking furiously, "...this is actually a try to get back at me? And the meat I have eaten was, in fact, Sean or another of our friends? Although I really think it's Sean."
"Oh, THAT bombshell!" Danielle exclaimed and clapped her hands. "Well, you're right, I did intend to drop it on you later on. And it's in fact Sean 'whom' you have eaten. But now that you've deduced it yourself, it takes the fun out of it a bit."
Josh laughed. "Never try to prank the master!" he said smugly. "But in that case... what animal did good Sean transform into then? This..." he pointed at the sauce-traces on his empty plate, "...didn't taste like turkey or chicken. More like... pork? Is that it? Whom did you get to slaughter him then?"
Danielle chuckled. "Oh, I did it myself. He told me what to do beforehand, but it was still a lot of work before I got these steaks out of him." she shook her head. "But in one aspect you're wrong. He didn't transform into a pig."
"He didn't?" now Josh looked confused. "What else is there? Well, I'm sure he'll tell me when he'll change back in a few minutes."
Mysteriously, Danielle smiled at him. "Well, there's one more item of food, made out of Sean which I haven't brought you so far. All the parts of Sean you have eaten so far have been roasted, but this special part of him needs a different kind of cooking. It was actually intended as the great revelation, therefore I'll just fetch it."
Danielle left for the kitchen and Josh looked behind her with a hint of uneasiness. If he didn't become a pig, what did he become then? he asked himself. Cattle? But that's way too large to fit in the Venn Machine. What else can steaks be made off...?
He was still thinking when Danielle entered again, carrying a large tray, its contents covered by a blanket. With verve, she put down the platter in front of him and twinkled. Then she grabbed the blanket.
"I present to you-" she said and ripped the blanket away, "-today's dessert!" and the table's contents were revealed.
Josh felt how his jaw was plummeting to the ground and how his eyes became saucer wide. He wanted to keep his face in check, to prevent it from betraying his surprise - and horror - but he didn't succeed.
On the table, Sean's severed head looked back at him out of dead, sightless eyes, one slightly closed, the other fully opened, both staring into different directions. The cut where it had been separated from his body looked unclean and ragged, as if it had been sawed off by a particular blunt instrument, and the mouth was slightly opened, his swollen tongue lolling out a few centimeters. The whole head was surrounded by ice cubes and showed an unhealthy, pale complexion, but what was really unsettling about the already grizzly scene was the fact that the head's top had been removed, showing the grey mass of Josh's brain.
Shocked, Josh stared at the human body part in front of him until Danielle tapped him in the shoulder. Still speechless, he looked at his friend and the girl grinned back, conjuring forth a spoon.
"You know that Sean is a great fan of the Indiana Jones movies, yes?" she asked rhetorically. "You surely know the scene in Temple of Doom where he is guest at the maharaja's dinner? Where they get served chilled ape brain for dessert?"
Josh could only nod. They can't be serious...! his mind gibbered, but mercilessly, Danielle continued.
"Well,-" she exclaimed cheerfully, "-Sean thought that you should try it out as well. If I were you, I'd dive in while his brain is still chilled." she held out the spoon again and showed him a sweet smile. "Wanna try?"
With a horrified cry, Josh jumped out of his chair, running towards the hallway, hand firmly pressed in front of his mouth. "Toilet's the second door to the left!" Danielle called behind him and Josh stumbled into bathroom. He barely made it to the toilet before his entire meal, and bits and pieces of Sean, he realized numbly, forced their way out of his body. Josh spent the next five minutes retching until there was not a single drop of food left in his stomach.
Eating an animal is one thing, even if it used to be a human! he thought horrified. But eating a human being... they have made me a cannibal for God's sake! The nausea returned and despite the fact that his belly was empty, he was retching for another couple of minutes over the toilet. And not only that... if she's really slaughtered Sean as a human, and I have no doubt that she has, than he'd been forced to watch her cutting his body apart. Jesus! And all of that is my fault for starting the whole craziness! When he finally managed to stood up, he tumbled directly towards the exit. "You don't wanna stay for dessert then?" Danielle's voice came from the living room and the girl even managed sound disappointed. "It was a pain in the ass to open Sean's head without making a mess out of his brain! Let alone severing it from his body in the first place!" she pouted, a statement which sent Josh back to the toilet again.
Finally, he managed to pry himself loose from the head and green faced, Josh collected his jacket. "No, I won't stay for dessert." he pressed out, reaching for the door knob. He just wanted to leave, vanish, gone far, gone fast, before Sean would turn back and rip him apart for the horrors he'd had to endure. He opened the door and swallowed, looking at his host a last time. "Well played." he murmured glumly and then staggered out into the staircase.

Gloomily, Sean stared at the floor. He was sitting on Danielle's couch, being the last guest. The rest of his friends, even Josh, had left by now. Although he wasn't sure how many of them were still his friends after this episode.
A gentle hand massaged his shoulder. "Oh, come on, Sweetey." Danielle comforted him. By now she had realized, that Sean was as much a victim of Josh's prank as she herself. "Don't look so depressed. Everything will be good again in a couple of weeks."
"You really think all of them will speak to me again?" he asked morosely and Danielle sighed.
"I wouldn't bother about this. Most of them are used to Josh's over the top pranks. And they'll probably focus most of their anger on Josh, so you're out of the line of fire. As for Jenny... she didn't puke that much, I think she was just... surprised."
Sean nodded, but somehow this explanation didn't make him feel any better and he continued staring tiredly at the floor.

"Oh, for God's sake!" Danielle exclaimed. "Don't hate yourself for it. It was Josh's fault. And this time, he went totally over the top. In fact, he should have gotten this prank played on himself, then... hm..." suddenly, Danielle looked thoughtful. And a vicious smile started to curl around her lips.
"Um... Danielle?" Sean asked uneasily. "What's the matter? I know that face...?"
"Weeell..." the girl asked grinning. "What do you say of getting back at Josh for the crazy stunt he pulled on us? In fact, I had a lengthy bet with him going on, that he wouldn't be able to prank me. Now he succeded, I lost and therefore I owe him a dinner." her smile was feral now.
Sean ogled her. "WHAT?" he asked stunned. "Don't tell me you want me to become the to be butchered turkey this time? Because I won't do it. Ever!"
"Oh, no." Danielle put him off. "The same prank wouldn't work twice. And he's probably expecting something like this. No, I had the following idea..." and she started to lay out her plan to an incredulously listening Sean.

Satisfied and stuffed, Josh put down his silverware. He massaged his belly and looked at his hostess with appreciation. "That was extremely delicious, Danielle." he told her with a smile. "I really have to compliment you on your cooking."
Danielle bowed slightly. "Thank you." she said and Josh chuckled. It had been a week since Thanksgiving and the he was still savoring the afterglow of his successful prank. He had asked Sean to give him the whole video and his friend had complied. So Josh had watched the tape with morbid fascination. He'd seen himself, as a turkey, flopping around happily and then being killed. And being eviscerated. He'd felt all of it from the inside, and he still had to shudder when he thought about the terrible ordeal, but seeing the bloody business from a detached point of view had, to his own dismay, even aroused him a bit. He had shivered involuntarily as he'd seen how Sean had first cut his head off and then thrown it into the garbage bin. After all, he'd felt and experienced all of this! It was, in a perverse sort of way, somehow exciting.
He'd even seen some images of 'him' being served by Danielle, and it had been mind-boggling to know that this roasted, tasty-looking meat had been really his body, with his mind inside. There had been a few videos of the meal, made by Danielle, and watching his friends devouring his body and complimenting Danielle on its taste and Sean on its tenderness had been interesting to say the least. Somehow, somewhere deep in his mind, he wanted to do it again. To again become an animal, being slaughtered and served for dinner. And not to play a prank on others... but to enjoy it. All of it... quickly, he shoved the perverse thought to the side.
That he was getting these fantasies from time to time stroked him as quite a bit paradoxical, after all, immediately after the prank he'd reflected upon the horrors he'd had to endure unknowingly to make the thing work and vowed to never play such extreme pranks on his friends anymore, that he'd do only 'normal' ones in the future, at most only slightly over the top ones, like the prank where he'd changed into a hot girl and seduced and slept with Sean perhaps. He hadn't told his friends of his decision, after all, they probably wouldn't believe him. Josh the prankster not doing crazy pranks anymore? Unthinkable! But in time, they'd probably realize that somehow, he'd stopped raising the stakes with each prank. In fact, this was quite some prank in its own right.

But in time, they'd probably realize that somehow, he'd stopped raising the stakes with each prank. In fact, this was quite some prank in its own right.
**************************************************
Grinning, Danielle watched Josh go. Oh, dear! she thought delightedly, Finally I managed to get back at him. It's such a great feeling, now I understand why he's doing his pranks.
Humming, she walked back into her living room, starting to clear away the used dishes. Then she cleaned her kitchen. "I have to say that our local supermarket's meat is really good..." she mused while she put the wrapping of the steaks she had served Josh into the garbage can. Satisfied, she inspected her work. Everything immaculate again, perfect.
Then there's only one thing left to do... giggling, she walked into the living room again where only Sean's severed head was left sitting on the table. Danielle went down on her knees and looked the grizzly sight in the eyes - although that was kind of hard since both eyes were staring into different directions. A quite unsettling sight she had deliberately designed into the change.
"Sean, I don't know if you can hear me, but it worked perfectly. Like a charm!" she exclaimed happily. The dead head didn't show any reaction, of course, and Danielle chuckled. Then she took out a plastic bag and carefully deposited it inside.
Five minutes later, she was walking towards the nearest Venn Machine, whistling all the way.
Sean blinked. After being a dead piece of meat - or rather head - it felt good to be human again. It had been strange, really. Much to his surprise, he had still been able to see, hear and feel after he'd been changed into a severed head by Danielle. He hadn't been able to move a muscle, though, and it had been quite a bit unsettling being stored in her dark fridge for some time.
But that ordeal was over now, and it had been totally worth it. He smirked at the Venn Machine's interface which featured a widely grinning Danielle.
"That worked quite well, didn't it...?" he asked and the girl's head bobbed up and down joyfully.
"Like a charm!" she exclaimed and raised a victorious fist in the air. "You should have seen his face! He really thought that I had butchered you as a human and served him human meat. He was basically puking all over a place. Boy, I should have recorded the whole thing."
Sean chuckled. "Oh, no need for this. I could hear and see perfectly well. Although it was a bit odd looking into two different directions at the same time... did you really have to make me squinting?"
Danielle looked at him with a bit of surprise in her eyes. "Wow..." she mused, "So you could really see? And hear? Despite being a, um, dead, severed head? So being transformed into a dead body is similar to being a dress or a doll or such!"
Sean grinned back. "I still had eyes and ears after all." he pointed out. "Lucky for me that we didn't go with the, um, 'hot-dog' which you proposed first. I guess being nothing more than my cooked privates wouldn't have left me quite as alert and observant as being a head..."
Sean shook his head in silent appreciation. At first, the idea had sounded crazy, although not even half as crazy as Josh's turkey stunt. Danielle had proposed to change him into a severed, topless head using the Venn Machine and then present him to Sean after he'd eaten his perfectly normal pork-dinner. Indicating that the pork hadn't been pork at all.
Of course Danielle wouldn't do something as crazy as dismembering a friend in her bathtub, roasting his flesh in her pan and chilling his head in her fridge. And Sean on the other side had not the slightest inclination of letting himself being slaughtered, but Josh had, as recent history had shown, no such inhibitions. And therefore would probably jump to the (wrong) conclusion they wanted him to reach. What he, apparently, had done.
"I just hope that he'll speak to me again after this." he mused. "I don't want to be left with only one friend, after all." and Danielle laughed.
"Oh, don't worry." she said, then mocked Josh's tone of voice. "He can appreciate a good joke."
Both laughed, but then Sean suddenly noticed that Danielle was working the interface on her side.
"Um... what are you doing over there?" he asked insecurely and his friend grinned.
"Well..." she said with anticipation in her voice. "I haven't eaten much today. And it just happens that we are in a Venn Machine. Wanna find out how it feels to be eaten?"
Sean gaped. "But-" he stammered, "-didn't you totally flip when you realized that you had eaten Josh? And now you want to eat me?"
"Oh, you're wrong there." Danielle huffed. "In fact, I was mainly angry at his hare-brained scheme which included forcing his best friend to kill him and then basically desecrate his body. But eating Venned people? Well, why not? You'll immediately become the ready, inanimate food without any unpleasant experiences like, I don't know, being slaughtered and such. And apparently, it really feels good being eaten. I have a friend who regularly eats her boyfriend as chocolate. He loves it." Danielle smiled. "So, stud... wanna try out how it feels to be eaten?"
"Um..." Sean gulped. Well, I don't have anything else to do today anyway. And I owe her for allowing me to get back at Josh. And if it really feels good like she says... He shrugged therefore. "Okay..." he said. "And what do you want me to become?"
"Hm..." his friend's grin was now as broad as a mountain. "I had thought about turkey... what do you think?"
Sean nearly choked. "No, please," he begged, looking a little green. "Not a turkey. Anything but that, I don't care what. A pumpkin pie, ice cream, how about a box of chocolates?"
"Oooh, chocolates."
