"Hey, great to see you!" she said, when we finally found each other at the barbecue.
"Yeah, you too! Glad you could make it!" We wrapped our arms around each other. We hadn't seen each other since our second date, nearly three weeks ago. "Want to grab a beer?"
"Sure. I think I saw a tub of ice over by the table."
We went over to the buffet, where a giant metal tub held a couple dozen bottles. I grabbed a couple and passed her one.
Then I took a look around the table, and around the tub.
"Um, I don't see an opener."
"Really?" she said. "Who brings bottled beer without an opener?"
"I don't know. Did the invite say we should have one, or did he just assume everyone carried a bottle opener?"
"Well, hang on," she said. "I got you." She set her bottle down on the table for a moment, and then she reached up to her head. With a little tug, she popped her head off, tucked it under one arm, and then took my bottle with the other. She pressed the cap of the bottle against the underside of her head, twisted, and gave a little grunt, and the cap popped off.
"There you go," she said, handing me my beer and repeating the process with her own. "Cheers."
I clinked my bottle against hers. "Here's to being prepared." I took a drink from my bottle, and she brought her bottle down to her lips.
