You all are my beta readers. If you see errors or typos, let me know and I’ll fix them. If something makes no sense. Let me know, because that probably means that I forgot to tell you an important fact to make the story make sense.
Thanks for reading! I hope that you enjoy this little tale!!
Chapter 2 of 14
Hope’s eyes were inspired by Amber Luke, a real world fetish model who tattooed the whites of her eyes blue.
For whatever reason, my stories seem to often include a communication-challenged, yet wise character (sort of a “manic pixie dream girl” tv trope, I guess). I don’t completely understand why that is. In real life, I have a horrendous fear of speaking in public, or actually most any real-time vocal interactions. (I hate ordering food at restaurants and calling in an order is completely anxiety producing…) So, maybe I wish that such a disability were actually attractive. (Not so much… particularly conflict resolution…)
To create Hope’s language I used google translator to translate english to a (specific) more obscure language which I then typed phonetically. I threw in a significant speech impediment (for reasons…). Finally, I replaced consonants with more percussive sounds. (pop), (click), etc… I think there are some languages that actually use those percussive sounds. My apologies to the people who actually speak the specific obscure language. (Note to self: write down the english somewhere so you can remember what the foreign language words are supposed to represent. I only vaguely remember what phrase I used to generate Hope’s name. I won’t reveal the translation any time soon, so don’t worry about that.)
Haven’t you, too, wondered what life would be like without fingernails?
