The next chapter in the saga. I'm sorry for taking so long, but after talking with someone, I decided to change the script regarding a pair of rescuees. I hope it still packs a wallop and is interesting!



Next: Chapter 9 WitchSerena came awake suddenly. Her head lifted into the air and she sniffed delicately at the wind. Something had disturbed her rest, a feeling that something was terribly wrong assaulted her. By know she had learned to listen to her feelings, as they proved accurate.
As she cast about for the source of her anxiety, she discovered an absence of a familiar presence.
Where was Stacey? She wondered.
The two had come down with her last night to talk and to sleep in her glade. After the weeks had led them to believe that they would not return home, they had constructed a snug home in a grove of trees nearby, lit within by fairy lights and providing a cheerful warmth to her glade. Often she stood just outside the window, talking with Stacey or just lying there and listening to the couple as they danced or sang inside. Stacey's melancholy about not being able to speak to her family still haunted her, but it was much less with the passage of time, or more deeply buried perhaps.

Prev: Chapter 7: TrainingJake flew to the narrow gorge they had agreed on to meet. Jake felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness about testing his limits. Also, he was a little angry with his sister for risking herself during the rescue of the little girl. Privately, he doubted he could have done nearly so well, especially in the part about keeping them calm. Something about seeing a flying, fire-breathing thirty-ton lizard seemed to panic people, encouraging a strong sense of hiding and running while exercising their lungs as loud as they could go.
He hadn’t actually tested out his theory about that, but something in his fuzzy memories seemed to suggest things of the sort. Hollywood certainly encouraged that image enough. Maybe there was some truth to it.
