Medical science can do some marvellous things nowadays; even amputation need not mean the complete loss of the affected body parts.
Here we see two women who have suffered their own respective calamities. The one on the left has lost both her feet and most of her arms. But her hands were still intact. So rather than sacrifice them completely, they were reattached on the ends of her legs. Similarly, the one on the right lost both hands and most of her legs. But her feet were saved, and were reattached on the ends of her arms.
So now both have to adjust to their new bodies, and learn how to use feet as hands, and hands as feet.
