"Wow, you're right Tara, this is fun!" exclaimed Rachel.
Previously on top of a building, Rachel was sliding down a giant slide made of a strange glowy blue material that looked to be filled with glitter. The slide constructed itself in front of her as she slid down, making turns and loops wherever Rachel thought would be fun.
Rachel looked over at Tara. "We've got to ask Kat if she's ever...aaaahh!!!" As Rachel took her attention off the slide, it ceased appearing in front of her, and she now found herself plummeting towards the ground.
"I'm okay!" shouted Rachel, now sporting two beautiful angelic wings made of the same material as the slide.
"Ooh, pretty wings!" Tara complimented. "You know you can just do this though, right?" Tara was floating in the air with an elegant stance, surrounded by an aura of blue light.
"Well you said it yourself, these wings are pretty!" Rachel tossed her hair, straightening it and making it grow down to her ankles. At the same time, she willed her cropped T-shirt to reshape into a tube top, and also altered her skirt so it was longer on one side. "Fitting for a pretty girl like me, wouldn't you say?" Rachel batted her eyes playfully.
"Totally...hey, check this one out," said Tara. As her eyes glowed a brilliant blue, another construct of sparkly blue light took form across the city, this one a gigantic colossus in Tara's image. As Tara moved in place in mid-air, her double copied her movements, stomping through the city without regard for what was below. "This is real cool because I can actually see through her eyes; it's like I'm there."
"Cool—oh, you know what I always wanted to try?" asked Rachel.
"Go ahead and show me," Tara suggested, before spinning into a tornado and giving herself a new outfit as well. "This is our dream."
"True. Okay, here goes." Rachel calmly puckered her lips and gently inhaled, locking her eyes on a building in the distance. As she continued to inhale, the building appeared to waver slightly, especially near the top. Before long, the building was bending in Rachel's direction, and then turning to sparkly dust that shot across the sky and was sucked into Rachel's lips like liquid through a straw. When she stopped breathing in, she smiled in satisfaction at her handiwork: the building was now gone without a trace.
But Rachel wasn't done. As she continued sucking as if from an imaginary straw, all the other buildings suffered the same fate. The entire city was reduced to a concrete wasteland with just one breath through Rachel's puckered lips. Proud from her show of power, Rachel softly landed on the ground and took a bow. "I'm sure I can do that in the real world too if I want...but I'd rather stick to doing it here," she laughed.
"Cool, let me try!" said Tara. She did the same thing, puckering her lips and inhaling, this time focusing on the clouds in the sky. It looked like a tornado was forming as the distant clouds swirled into a whirlwind, quickly being sucked right into Tara's mouth until the sky was perfectly clear.
As Tara focused on the clouds she absorbed, she vanished from where she was standing, and the clouds reappeared in the sky, now in the shape of Tara. "Look, I'm Alyssa!" she joked. "You know I should try that trick when I wake up, freak everyone out," she giggled. "Clouds are harmless enough."
"How about this?" asked Rachel, smirking. Puckering her lips, she looked toward the sky and inhaled. It was a trippy sight as the normal daytime Alyssa-esque blue color of the sky was pulled in from the sides of the sky, as if it was being torn away. And when it got pulled into Tara's lips, it looked even more bizarre, as there was the blue void of the sky right there at ground level, close enough to touch, like the fabric of space itself was being warped by Rachel's focused inhalation. Once the blue sky was gone, there was only the black starry void of space.
"Guess you're Kat now!" Rachel shouted up to the clouds.
"Hmm, is Kat's energy blue and sparkly though? I didn't think so." Cloud-Tara playfully smirked, waving a finger made of condensed water vapor.
Suddenly Tara and Rachel were startled awake by another voice in the room: Kat's. Speak of the devil. "Actually, to be completely accurate, my constructs look however I want them to."
As the two rubbed their eyes, Kat held a hand in the air and swirled it around a bit, effortlessly creating a miniature version of herself in a tornado of energy. "See?" It didn't look like her usual starry energy; it looked like a colorful, glowy cartoon hologram of herself.
"Hi!" said Kat's construct as the real Kat moved her hand slightly. Kat closed her fist and her construct vanished.
"I can do even better, one sec," said Kat, giving her construct a realistic look entirely unlike energy through concentrated focus.
"Oh, and here's a fun trick you can try next time." Similar to Tara and Rachel only in reverse, Kat calmly puckered her lips, and blew in the direction of the light switch, turning it on.
"No way, cool!" asked Rachel. "How'd you do that?"
"Wait, how could you see what we were dreaming?" asked Tara.
"To answer your first question, I just shaped my breath like I shape my energy projections," Kat started. "Here, I'll do it again, watch." Kat looked around, puckered her lips, and softly blew towards the glass door. As if her breath was a hand that could grab the handle and move the heavy door, the halfway-open door slowly began closing, and not even moving in the direction Kat was blowing. Kat smiled, and started blowing toward the door again. As she did, an invisible finger wrote in the fog on the door: "KAT WAS HERE."
"That's amazing, but how did you—" Tara started, before being interrupted by Kat.
"Oh, one more trick to show you. I'd like some water, but...oh look, the bathroom's locked with no one in there!" Kat turned toward the bathroom, which was separated from the rest of the room by a glass wall, which a mechanism had turned opaque since the door was locked. "I think it was Lily," Kat playfully whispered.
"Oh well, I can fix it," said Kat, pointing out a small gap between the bottom of the glass wall and the floor using a glowing pink arrow that appeared from nowhere. Using her magically-shaped air, Kat blew in the shape of an arm that reached underneath the crack, unlocked and opened the door, and turned on the faucet. "They really need to make these locks more secure," joked Kat. "A breath of air can open it from across the room!"
Kat resumed blowing, this time in the shape of a cup. As soon as she started, the water collected into an invisible cup made of air. Raising an eyebrow, she adjusted her breath a bit, and the cup (and therefore the water inside) took on a star shape. Kat turned toward Tara and Rachel, dragging her cup of water above them. With a smirk, she stopped blowing, and with Kat no longer holding it in place with her magically-directed breath, the water was able to fall freely.
Just before the water could soak the bed, though, it stopped moving, floating as if in zero-gravity. When Tara and Rachel looked, they saw Kat's eyes glowing bright green.
"Wait...Lily?" asked Tara.
Smirking, Kat swirled into a tornado and emerged in the form of Kaly. "Yep, she's here too."
"Oh, so you were just using Lily's telekinesis to do that stuff," reasoned Rachel. "It wasn't air."
Kaly separated into Kat and Lily by jumping to both her sides at once. "No, it was; I can still do that on my own," said Kat, blowing air from her lips once more, in the shape of a large invisible hand that lifted Tara out of bed. Blowing a bit harder, she started also blowing out a second invisible hand, lifting Rachel. At this point, it was obvious to them that they were in fact being held aloft by air blown into a solid form.
When Kat ran out of breath, Tara and Rachel were dropped back into the bed.
"But actually..." said Lily.
"We're still both Kaly," said Kat, the two of them changing into Kaly at the same time. They jumped back into each other and formed a single body twice its normal size.
"Whoa!" exclaimed Rachel.
Kaly turned back into Kat briefly, still twice her normal size. "You'll just have to take my word that I've done it before on my own," she giggled. "It's quite a fun trick to play with." She turned back into Kaly.
"Aww, look how cute you are down there," Kaly playfully teased as she looked down at Tara and Rachel.
Kaly shrunk to one tenth her usual height. "Now I'm the little one!" she laughed.
Rachel leaned over the edge of the bed to see Kaly, confused. "Oh, you have one of those thingies too?" Rachel felt around on the nightstand for the miniature figure she got from the "body shop" and showed it to Kaly.
"Nope, we can just do that for some reason," Kaly laughed, turning tall enough that she could barely fit in the room, then tiny again, repeatedly a few times, and then returned to her normal size and sat down on the foot of the bed.
"How'd you get into our room?" asked Tara, not upset but curious.
"Open," Kaly commanded, cheekily pointing to the door. The door promptly swung right open. Kaly turned around and smiled at Tara, as if to make fun of her for not realizing that. She slightly twitched one of her cat ears in the direction of the door, making it close and lock itself.
"I know you're not dumb; you're just half-asleep," admitted Kaly. She stood up and started walking towards the wall. At the same time, the wall moved like liquid and a large hole opened up, big enough for Kaly to walk through. Kaly stopped briefly and turned around. "Good night both of you, I'm gonna go say hi to Lyss." She stepped through the hole in the wall, which sealed itself up as if it was never there. Tara and Rachel only looked at each other in surprise.
"What can she do?" asked Tara in amazement.
"I don't know," said Rachel. "Maybe she's like we were for a bit!"
"You mean when we could change stuff by, like, pointing at it or whatever?" Tara pointed around a bit to illustrate.
"Yeah, I already miss that."
"Aww, I'm sure we'll get it back soon Rach," Tara consoled. "We're gonna figure this out. We already have some really cool powers." Tara held out her hand toward the foot of the bed and wiggled her fingers, manifesting a small pile of rocks from her sparkles.
"I know," said Rachel, tearing up slightly. "We were having so much fun though."
Tara gave Rachel a warm hug. "How about we get back to dreaming together?" she suggested. "We can do anything we want there."
"Okay," Rachel sniffled, smiling again. With that, the two of them wrapped their arms around each other and fell back to sleep, happily returning to their shared fantasy world.
