"Hey! I have a signal!" Kat looked at her phone. "I can call 911 and get Stacy—"

"No!" begged Lily. "Don't!"

Kat's eyes faintly started to glow green for a second from Lily's command, and she suddenly understood exactly what Lily wanted her to do, enough that, even if it were something more complicated, she could easily do it without any thought if she wanted. But while Lily's influence was like a powerful flashlight that could brightly illuminate just about anything with the light of her will, she was shining it at the surface of the Sun, whose own inner light shone far too bright for any flashlight to make a meaningful difference.

Oh no, did I? Lily worried as she saw the glow, and saw Kat begin to hesitate. Kat's wordless mental response, however, immediately alleviated her concern.

"Why not?" puzzled Kat. "She needs medical attention, and I especially don't want to see—"

"How will we explain why we're here? Wouldn't this all look awfully suspicious?"

"Hmm, yeah..." Kat agreed. "We probably aren't allowed here, so they'll wonder what's going on..."

"And why you have an unconscious celebrity with you," noted Alyssa.

"Yeah..." Kat concurred. "But still, Stacy needs...if they call the cops, can't we show them our new powers and explain how we got here?"

"No." Lily insisted. "It's not safe. For her either. There's clearly something going on. As far as we know, maybe the police are in on it."

"But..." Kat pondered.

"How can you be so sure?" asked Rachel.

"Yeah, I thought that too about where I'm from, and I don't think there really was anything." added Tara.

"The barriers." Lily said matter-of-factly. "That prevent imprinting. Tara, remember when you imprinted on the wall? You could do it just fine, and then..."

"Yeah? What makes you think—"

"Kat asked me how they work, and I tried to look it up. Turns out only one company makes them, and they're very secretive."

"Well yeah, of course they want to preserve their monopoly," Rachel suggested. "Why would they want other companies to know how to make them?"

"True, or..." Lily looked around. "Let me find one."

Lily started walking in the direction of the exit sign, figuring everyone might as well head in that direction. After turning the corner, Lily found a computer terminal protected by the small devices next to the door. "Let me just deactivate these real quick...Off," Lily gestured toward the terminal, causing the lasers on the barrier devices to flicker off.

"Cool!" Kat cheered.

"Normally you can't imprint on these even when they're switched off. But the way I did it, I think..." Lily touched one of them, and entered it fluidly and easily. "Yep."

"Hey Tara, look!" Rachel laughed, pointing to the screen on the terminal.

"Ha!" Tara grinned. "Facet Water Sparklification Center," she read. "Funny; guess it's a water treatment plant or something."

Just then Lily emerged from the device and placed herself on the floor. "Yep, not a surprise," she sighed.

"What?" asked Alyssa.

"It doesn't do anything to prevent imprinting."

"Huh? Of course it does," Kat objected, as she idly played with a stream of energy floating up from her finger. "That's its entire purpose, isn't it?"

"It tells you not to. But your own body is what forces you to listen. All thanks to...what you all discovered, I guess."

Kat was speechless, not sure whether to respond with disbelief or anger.

"So sort of like what you can do, Lily?" asked Tara.

"Yeah, I guess," Lily grinned, leaning against the wall around the corner from the terminal. "But it does it in a way we've all been specifically tuned to have a hard time resisting, I think." Lily folded her arms in front of her. "And, of course, it can only control people." Lily pointed at the terminal, which instantly began displaying an animation of Lily winking and giving a thumbs up. "When it comes to inanimate objects, I rule." The last two words appeared on the screen as Lily said them. "Literally," she grinned, returning the screen to normal by tapping the side.

"...Huh?" Suddenly Lily noticed the devices on the terminal start to fade into a sparkly mist, being pulled somewhere to her left.

"Mind if I try on one of you?" Rachel asked.

Lily turned to see the last of the mist disappear into Rachel's outstretched hand.

"Rachel!" chided Alyssa. "That wasn't yours!"

Lily snickered a little. "It is now, I guess," she grinned.

"Oops," Rachel apologized. "Sorry."

"You can try on me," Tara offered. "We're kinda the same person anyway."

After thinking for a moment, Rachel held her hand in front of Tara's face. "What the hell??" Tara shrieked. "I can't move!" Rachel lowered her hand, and Tara could move once more. "How did you...Why can you do that???"

Kat looked at the clock on her phone. "Shouldn't we get going?" she complained. "Hello? Someone kinda needs medical attention?" She tapped her foot impatiently for a second, then walked to the door and opened it.

"Oh, right!" Rachel agreed. Everyone followed Kat through the door.

Thankfully, the door led outside. And when they got outside, they were greeted by a very unique sight: pipes and tanks everywhere, only they were all made of crystal-clear glass. It looked somewhat like an elaborate outdoor aquarium, only without any of the sea life that would be the main attraction.

"Wow, pretty!" Tara marveled.

"Wait until we get out to the city," remarked Lily.

"Umm...should we be worried about being seen?" Alyssa said softly.

"Let me try something," said Lily. Her eyes glowed for a second, and everything went black around everyone.

"Hey, I can't see!" yelled Kat.

"Me neither!" said Rachel.

"What are you doing, Lily?" asked Alyssa.

"Whoops. Hold on..." Lily's eyes glowed once more, and everyone could see again, though everything still looked darker than it was before, and it was already getting dark.

"Huh?" Tara looked around. "Where did everyone go? ...Rachel?"

"I'm right here," said Rachel. "Where are you?"

"Oh my god, I think we're invisible," said Alyssa.

Lily smiled and nodded, though no one saw. "Mm-hmm," she said, proud that her idea worked. "Pretty easy, all I had to do was make the light go around each of us. That's why you couldn't see before."

"Your powers are awesome, Lil," said Kat. "But you know I can turn invisible without you, right? So can Alyssa, and...Tara? Rachel? You shouldn't have a hard time becoming air."

Alyssa suddenly bumped into an invisible obstacle that blocked her path. "Ow!" she said. "What the...ahhh!"

There was a translucent pair of eyes floating in mid-air right in front of Alyssa, which before long moved away from her.

"O-kay, let me see what I can do..." The floating eyes in front of Alyssa glowed bright green, and everyone could see each other again. "There, now no one can see us, but we can still see each other."

"...Couldn't pull that off, though," Kat admitted.

"How can we see each other but other people can't?" asked Tara.

"Simple, I just bent the light around all of us at once. I had to let more in so we can see each other of course, but all anyone will see is a darker spot moving around. Like a shadow."

"Cool!" exclaimed Kat.

"You're getting really good with those powers," said Tara.

"Check this out," said Lily, pointing at the glass wall next to them. It was the outside of a clarifier, a large tank of water used for removing solid contaminants. Lily gently blew on the glass and formed bubbles in the water behind it, as if she was blowing through a tube connected to the inside of the tank.

"How are you doing that?" asked Tara. "Is there actually air in there?"

"Nope, the bubbles are empty," said Lily, forming alphabet-shaped bubbles with her words to show off even more. "I'm just moving the water around. It's easier than it sounds; it just does what I want it to!" She laughed to herself.

"Watch this," said Kat. Similar to Lily, Kat blew on the glass, forming bubbles of her own, only made out of her energy.

"Let's see here," Kat wondered as she watched her energy bubbles bobbing up and down in the tank. In a quick motion, she twirled her finger toward the side of the clarifier, and the bubbles swirled around and merged with one another to form a miniature version of Kat made out of energy. Kat waved from inside. "Hi!" she said, her voice muffled by the water in the tank.

"No way, this is awesome!" said her construct. "It's like I'm actually in two bodies at once! I can even see you from inside the tank!"

"Wow!" "Awesome!" everyone cheered for Kat.

Kat's miniature double twirled around in the water and turned into a tiny submarine, which floated to the top of the water, and then a helicopter to fly out of the water. As a helicopter, mini-Kat looked almost exactly like one of the small drones people flew around in. This gave Kat an idea. After landing next to herself in her dripping-wet helicopter body, human-Kat picked up the helicopter, and imprinted on her own construct. Unsurprisingly, the appearance of the construct didn't change one bit with Kat inside, at least not until she decided to change its shape once again, turning it back into the shape of her human body. But this time, she grew in size as well, until she was about one and a half times her normal size.

"Now this is really cool!" Kat giggled in elation. Eschewing her boring legs and feet in favor of an ethereal, ghost-like tail of energy, Kat floated into the air and hovered above the top of the clarifier. "I could get used to a body like this!"

"Do you see any guards or anything?" asked Alyssa.

"No, I—oh, I do see a car driving around—it has a flashing light but it's yellow. We're still invisible, right Lil?"

"Yep," she said proudly. "Let's be quiet though."

Kat floated back down to the ground and shrank to her normal human size.

"I'll be as quiet as a mouse," Rachel quietly joked, reshaping her body into a human-sized mouse. "Oops, right, clay can't shrink," she whispered. "This is weird though." Rachel looked down at her reshaped feet, and swung her tail around a bit.

"Meeeowww!" Kat meowed quietly like the animal with which she shared a name, and when Rachel looked behind her she saw Kat had actually transformed her energy body into the shape of one.

"Aahhhh!" Rachel jokingly "screamed" with the volume of a whisper, before turning human again.

In the blink of an eye, Kat changed her shape once more, changing from a cat made of starry energy into a medical helicopter made of the same. Mentally calling to the stretcher she created, she rolled Stacy inside herself. "Hop in," she said. "I'll get us all to the hospital."
