"What???" gasped Alyssa. Worried as to what she'd find, Alyssa tried to use her newfound matter-manipulation ability, only to find her worries confirmed. Rachel tried the same, with the same result, or lack thereof.

"Oh no, what are we going to do??" cried Rachel. She felt terrible to suddenly lose her new abilities she had so much fun with, and had already gotten used to how they would change her life.

"How did this happen?" implored Alyssa.

"I don't know...ugh..." Kat groaned.

"Maybe it just doesn't work in this dimension?" suggested Tara.

"Of course, that's got to be it!" exclaimed Alyssa, excited that her powers would most likely return when she got home, but still very worried that that may never happen. Then she suddenly looked dejected. "Wait, no, I was playing around with it when I first got here..."

"I'm still not understanding what she was talking about," said Lily. "What are you saying you could do? Kat said you could, like, turn anything into anything else without even touching it?"

Alyssa and Rachel nodded. "Yeah, exactly," said the latter. "We were having so much fun with it before we got here."

"...How did that work?" asked Lily.

"It really didn't take much more than the desire to change something and...well, it just happened," explained Kat. "Not sure how, but it did."

"I'm really worried," said Tara, changing the subject. "I mean I like it here, but I still want to see my friends and family at home. And at least they have more of me to talk to, but Alyssa—"

"That's it! Could you have one of your copies open a portal back?" suggested Alyssa. "You can communicate with them mentally, right?"

"I only made the link with Rachel...damn it, why didn't I think???"

"It's not your fault," said Rachel. "How would you have known?"

"Alyssa, do you have any link back home?" asked Kat.

"I wish."

"We've got to think of something," begged Tara. "Any ideas?"

Everyone was silently thinking, pacing around for a whole minute, before Kat thought of one and broke the silence. "Wait a minute—I got to your dimension from here by accident, remember?"

"That's right!" Alyssa exclaimed hopefully.

"It's a long shot, but if we retrace the route I take maybe we'll find something," continued Kat.

"Yeah!" "Great idea!" Everyone agreed.

Suddenly Kat's body appeared to ripple. "Whoa, what's hap—" Alyssa's copy stepped out of her. "Oh, hey, other Alyssa. I forgot you were there!"

"I was thinking we could split up," suggested the other Alyssa. "Literally, in our case," she giggled. "I can go with Lily, and Tara or Rachel, just to have fun here and see what's different. Might as well enjoy ourselves."

"Ooh, sounds like fun!" Rachel ran up to her.

"And I'll go with Tara and Kat, to check out what's there, see if maybe we can get back," said the other Alyssa.

"...You have a copy too??" asked Lily.

"Yeah," laughed Alyssa. "I split myself in two so that Kat could use my powers, but it's not really gonna do any good right now," said the other one.

"You can do that?" asked Lily. "I mean I can believe that, but that's still pretty awesome, can I see?"

"Well I probably can't anymore," said the first Alyssa. "But I'll try."

Alyssa closed her eyes and focused intensely. She managed to duplicate some of her body parts, giving herself four arms and four legs, but she didn't quite have the level of focus needed to create a whole separate copy of herself. Still though, she surprised herself. "Whoa, so at least I can do something!"

"Wow, that's still amazing!" exclaimed Lily. "There's some people here who are famous for doing things like that. Kat's actually a pretty big fan of one of them—"

"Anistasia Lynn? Kat's shown me, she's great!" Alyssa made her extra parts vanish back into her.

"Mm-hmm," said Lily. "What else can you do, Alyssa?"

"Well the first thing I learned was imprinting, so let me try that..."

"Pfft, that's nothing," said Lily. "Anyone can do that."

"I just wanna make sure." Alyssa looked around for something to try with.

"We'll try too," said Tara and Rachel in unison.

Kat turned to Lily. "I guess they're still thinking of imprinting as one of the 'new things,'" she said. "Probably figured they lost that too."

"Yep, still got it!" came Alyssa's voice. Alyssa had become the sign in front of the apartment building.

"Easy as ever," said Rachel, in a much quieter voice, barely audible. She had been curious what it felt like to be a tiny piece of gravel on the ground, so she poured herself into one right in front of Alyssa. "Oh my god, this is so cool, it's like I'm in a pile of giant rocks that stretches on forever...ahhh, Lily, you look HUGE!" Rachel laughed when Lily bent over to look at her, before looking back up at Alyssa.

"...Nitanni Towers?" asked Lily, referring to the apparent new name of the building.

"Hee hee, that's funny," giggled Alyssa. "It's my last name."

"Lovely name, Ms. Towers," laughed Kat.

"I can't do it for some reason," said Tara, a little concerned. She had her hand on the side of the building, where she had exited before. "Almost feels like something's in the way."

"Don't worry, that's normal," said Lily. "There's—"

"She did it before somehow," interrupted Kat. "I thought the thing was broken at first, but then I still couldn't."

"Okay, that's weird."

"Thought what was broken?" asked Tara.

"There's this thing we have that prevents you from imprinting on certain things," said Lily. "They put it there cause otherwise you could just go through the wall without anyone buzzing you in."

"It's like a lock," added the sign outside the building in Alyssa's voice.

"...Well you can use it with a lock, but a lock by itself wouldn't...actually wait, yeah, in your world..."

Suddenly Rachel's body exploded out of a tiny spot on the ground in a burst of blue sparkles. "Wait, what's going on?"

"Remember how Tara left the building through the wall?" asked Kat.

Rachel nodded.

"There's something there that was supposed to prevent imprinting, but she could do it anyway for some reason...wait, Lyss, what are you doing?"

Alyssa had popped out of the sign and walked over to the side of the building, where she was now trying to imprint. "Didn't you say you could sometimes push past it? Maybe that's what she did by accident."

"You can't do it by accident," laughed Lily.

"I tried real hard; if I got it once I would have gotten it now," said Tara, trying again with all her might.

"I think I've got it," said Alyssa. "...Yep!" she added, just as her feet disappeared through the surface of the wall. "You're right though; that was pretty tough."

"Wow," said Kat, thoroughly impressed. "You really are a natural, if you can do that even now."

"She's serious; most people need years of practice to do that, if they ever do," added Lily.

Alyssa popped out of the wall. "Any luck with you, Tara?"

Tara took her hand off the wall. "Nah...it's like all that other stuff; I could do it before just fine, but now I can't."

"I'm still having trouble believing all that," commented Lily.

"Wait," Rachel interjected. "I think you're onto something, Tara. Something happened between the time you stepped out of that wall and the time you tried to enter it again, and that's probably the same thing that took away most of our powers!"

Alyssa gasped. "Oh my god, you're right! Tara, can you think of anything that might have happened during that time?"

"Please, anything you can think of," added Rachel.

Tara sat down in front of the building and thought for a minute, before shaking her head. "No, sorry...nothing stands out."

"Anything that doesn't stand out?" asked Alyssa.

"How would I know what's relevant?" argued Tara. "I can't mention every tiny detail I remember in case anything happens to stand out to you. If you think you can read my mind and pick something out, be my guest." Tara sighed. "Sorry, I don't mean to be rude; I know how important this is to all of you, me too, but—"

Tara was interrupted by Rachel's gasp. "I think...I think I found something..." she stammered.

Alyssa and Kat had smiled at each other, exchanging some telepathic messages of their own, the second Tara sarcastically suggested someone read her mind. Kat would have suggested it had Rachel not been one step ahead of them. But now they were interested. "What is it?" asked Alyssa suspensefully.

"Wait, you actually did read my mind, didn't you Rach?" Tara burst out laughing. "That's hilarious."

"So...umm...remember that weird feeling I mentioned before, that you two said you also felt?"

Alyssa and Kat nodded.

"Weird feeling?" said Tara.

"Yeah, I think you mentioned it to me back at your house?" said Kat. "Like about how you could feel someone melting you or whatever before you let it happen." She looked at Rachel. "Right?"

"...Don't tell me you felt that too when you got here," exclaimed Tara.

Rachel looked over at Kat, then at Tara. "We all did," she said, concerned about what seemed to be going on.

"Not me," said Lily. "What are you talking about?"

Tara briefly explained to Lily about how they were having fun transforming each other and, except for Kat, who couldn't really do anything then that she couldn't now, they could feel it coming and hold it back if they wanted.

"Wait, but Kat, you felt it too?" asked Lily. "That probably wasn't it then, if you couldn't do that stuff before either."

"I could when I merged with Alyssa. That's why she made that second body of hers to let me use...wait, I could've sworn she separated from me; where did she go?" Kat looked around.

The second Alyssa faded into view. "Hee hee, I was wondering how long it would take for you to remember there were two of me!"

"Kat?" the first Alyssa said worriedly. "I just realized, that thing you said about your body, how you didn't know why it would be limiting you..."

Suddenly it was as if a switch flipped inside of Kat, as the realization hit her. "Okay what's going on???" Kat exploded at no one in particular, surprising everyone with her suddenness. "Is someone doing this on purpose?? Messing with people's bodies against their will, deciding what they can and can't do????"

Tara and Rachel looked at each other, as did the two Alyssas. "...Remind me to ask her how she turned invisible," said Tara to Rachel.

"Kat," consoled Lily. "We don't know exactly what's going on. Maybe it's not intentional. There's no reason to get this upset."

"Well we're sure as hell gonna figure out what's going on!" growled Kat. "Come on Alyssa, Tara, you going with me?" And with that, in a puff of pink mist, Kat evaporated into her familiar vapor form, becoming one with the air and floating away. Alyssa sighed and followed after her, turning into vapor herself and yelling back to Tara. "Just imprint on the air, Tara; it's easy!"

"Oh, guess that's how," noted Rachel. "I've got to try that."

A few seconds later, after trying herself, Tara yelled back. "I can't do it!"

With no response from Kat, who was too far to hear, Lily came to her aid. "I'll call her," she offered, before closing her eyes.

Soon after, a cloud of Kat's mist made a beeline for Tara. "Here, hold out your hand," came Kat's voice from the cloud, despite seemingly lacking any parts capable of speech.

Tara did as instructed, and Kat's cloud floated above her hand. A strange device popped into existence inside the cloud, landing in her hand. Before Tara could get a look at what it was, the cloud dashed back toward Kat's vaporous body, now barely visible in the sky.

"Ah, good idea," said Lily. "I don't know why Kat still carries that thing around with her since she learned how to fly without it. Glad she does though."

Looking in her hand, Tara noticed the device resembled a quadcopter drone, only it was much smaller, easily fitting in Tara's hand. "...What's this?"

"You can use it to fly," explained Lily. "Just imprint on it."

Tara easily did so, allowing her whole body to be sucked into the tiny device, which took on a blue, crystalline appearance. The rotors produced sparkles as they spun.

"Wooo, this is awesome!" laughed Tara as she shot into the air like a rocket. "Everything looks so tiny up here!" And she zoomed toward Kat and Alyssa.

"Well, Rachel? ...Other Alyssa?" said Lily. "While they're busy, how about I show the two of you around?"
