"Lyssi?" said Kat excitedly.

"I feel weird," she said, still not quite awake enough to realize why she felt the way she did.

"Lyssi, you did it!"

"Did what?"

Then she realized.

"Wait...did I...?" she said in excitement as Kat got her phone from the nightstand and took a picture.

Alyssa gasped as she saw her face in the picture. "I did it!!!" she squealed. She took in what it felt like to be a bed, and the wonderful feeling of being slept in, especially by someone she'd grown as fond of as Kat. And she became even more excited when she realized she'd certainly be able to do it again, putting herself inside not just her bed but anything she wanted, at any time. Or at least she'd get there, even if she wasn't there yet. That much was now clear.

Alyssa spend what had to be more than half an hour simply existing as the bed, letting her personality temporarily become nothing as she just sat (stood?—she was on all four legs after all) on the floor. It was simply so new to her, such a unique feeling, and on top of that she found it very easy to just lose herself. She figured if the bed's style had changed—which it hadn't as it already matched her personality quite well—it would have changed back to normal with her still in there, due to how small her personality had temporarily become. As Alyssa sat there, enjoying what it was like, Kat let herself fall back to sleep, knowing Alyssa would appreciate it. That was, after all, what beds were for.

A while later, Alyssa felt like becoming human again. She wasn't particularly bored of being a bed—that wouldn't happen for a while—but she did want to try and see if she could imprint on other things, and do it at will instead of just accidentally in her sleep. Plus she wanted to make sure she knew how to bring back her human body, as that was obviously quite important.

"Hey Kat?" she said.

Kat adjusted her position a bit, which Alyssa felt inside her. "Yes?"

"How do I go back to normal?"

"Just think about what it's like being human, and try to feel your personality leaving the bed."

Alyssa tried to do what Kat said. About ten seconds later, she felt her familiar human body once more, as it gently rose out of the bed sheets. "Thanks," she said to Kat as she put her arm around her.

Alyssa got out of bed. Still in her nightshirt, she looked around the room, trying to decide on something else to try becoming. "So I can imprint on anything I want, right?"

"Yeah, pretty much," said Kat.

Alyssa kept looking, unable to decide. "What am I doing," she thought to herself. "I can try anything I want later; I'll just pick the next thing I see." She decided on the flat-screen TV on the wall. She remembered that when Kat had been inside of something with a screen, she was able to control what it displayed. That could be fun.

Alyssa gently placed her hand on the screen. She concentrated, remembering what it felt like to have her personality inside the bed. She thought of what it felt like to leave the bed, and imagined that feeling in reverse, as she willed it to happen.

Only a few seconds passed before Alyssa felt herself being pulled into the television, the surface rippling as her body was sucked in. The black bezel around the screen turned her favorite light blue, and even the screen turned from black to white, though as it was off it still wasn't producing any light.

Alyssa appreciated the unfamiliar feeling of being flat and rectangular. It felt neat hanging on the wall. "Turn me on!" she excitedly yelled to Kat. "...You know what I mean," she laughed, as she realized that didn't come out exactly as she intended it to.

Kat looked around for the remote, but then thought against it. "Try doing it yourself; you should be able to." She then quietly laughed to herself as she realized how that fit with Alyssa's accidental innuendo.

A second or two later, a white LED began to glow on Alyssa's surface. A few more seconds and her screen flickered to life, showing the news. Then, with a flash, it switched to showing Alyssa's memories from the previous day. She thought of various images and tried to make them appear, and she knew instinctively that they did.

Just then she got another idea, remembering how Kat had appeared on the computer screen. She switched back to displaying live TV, which was now showing the weather report. She concentrated on moving her personality from the TV as a whole, to solely the image on the screen of the weather girl. As she did, the set returned to its normal color, and the girl's body morphed to look exactly like Alyssa as she suddenly stopped talking mid-sentence. Once more in her human body, or at least a duplicate of it that felt exactly the same, she looked around. She was in a news studio. She wondered if the part of the studio not shown on TV actually looked like what she saw—probably not, she figured, as the information would have to come from somewhere, but that certainly wouldn't be the strangest thing that happened to her. It was probably just her mind filling in the blanks based on what she expected a news studio to look like. One thing she knew wasn't in the actual studio was the small window the size of the TV screen on the back wall, through which she could see her bedroom, Kat watching from the bed with a smile on her face, waving to her.

Alyssa looked behind her at the glowing map on the wall that looked more like an image superimposed on her vision than something that was actually there, if that makes sense—she figured it had something to do with the green screen effect they used, and how she wasn't in the actual studio but rather the TV's image of it, which included the map. Clutching the microphone, she improvised. "Today we have a 100% chance of fun and discovery for Alyssa Nitanni as she explores her new imprinting ability," she said, a cute expression on her face. "And a 90% chance of her friend Kat joining in on the fun."

"Better make that a hundred," she heard Kat laughing from the window.

Alyssa remembered how she could control what was displayed on the screen before. Even though her personality was at the moment confined to only the person on the screen and not the screen itself, she knew she could extend it wherever she wanted. She figured she could still control what the screen showed, experiencing those changes from the body she was inhabiting as changes in the world around her.

Alyssa concentrated on the map, imagining it turning upside-down. It didn't take long for it to happen exactly as she imagined it, the casing of the TV turning blue for a fraction of a second as her personality touched it. She then thought about making it display a picture of the moon instead, which it did pretty much instantly, obeying her mental command. Pointing to it, she said, "Over here we have highs of 253°F, and lows of 243 below zero." Laughing, she continued, "And expect the low gravity in the area to continue for quite a while."

"Ooh this is so cool, what else can I change?" she said as she left character, eagerly walking around, her hands balled into fists in front of her chest in excitement. She concentrated a bit more, and everything in the room started to float in the air as gravity turned off. It felt amazing being weightless. Back in character, she said, "Uh oh, looks like we're getting some of that here too." With a thought, she returned gravity to normal, everything falling haphazardly around the room.

"This just in, we have a tornado warning in effect for this very studio," said Alyssa. Swirling her hands in the air in front of her, she created a mini-tornado and set it loose in the studio. "(Hee hee, this is so much fun,)" she giggled, temporarily leaving character once more. Once the tornado had done enough damage, she clapped her hands and brought everything back to normal.

A thought struck her as she noticed the microphone she was holding. Could she imprint...while imprinted? She saw no reason she couldn't; all she'd be doing is putting her personality in a different part of the television's image like she did when she took over the weather girl. She concentrated on becoming the microphone, just like she had become the TV. It only took a fraction of a second for her body to be pulled into the microphone, which turned blue and white as it fell to the floor. She rolled around on the floor a bit, but grew bored as there was no one to use her.

She then remembered the weather girl she had replaced. Concentrating some more, Alyssa made the weather girl reappear in a flicker of light. She bent over and picked up Alyssa, looking at her quizzically wondering when they got a new microphone in a different color, and started speaking. "Sorry about that, we were having some technical difficulties." As Alyssa then let the live TV broadcast take over the girl's speech, she continued with the normal weather report as if nothing had happened.

Alyssa exited the microphone, then jumped through the window leading to the bedroom. The glass rippled as she launched herself through it, and on the other side, the same thing happened as her body shot from the screen, landing in her bed next to Kat. The TV was still on, the weather report continuing with no more interruptions.

"Fun, isn't it?" said Kat, still laughing at the show Alyssa had put on for her.

"Yeah, really!" said Alyssa excitedly, laughing with Kat as they snuggled together. "I can't wait to see what else I can do with this."

"You'll wonder how you ever lived without it," said Kat. "It'll make everything so much easier." Kat laughed, as while to Alyssa it had to be the most amazing thing ever, by her world's standards that was like saying being able to walk or speak would make life easier, no offense to those who can't.

Kat changed into her usual outfit, in her special way that to her wasn't so special. Alyssa tried to do it the same way, but she couldn't. Not yet anyway. "You'll get it soon, I'm sure," said Kat. "If nothing else works, I'll use that trick I mentioned the other day to help you if you want." Alyssa smiled. She had forgotten about that; she was excited to find out what it could be.

The two of them decided to go for another walk together. Now that Alyssa could imprint as well, the whole world just seemed different to her, in a good way. Every single thing she saw took on a whole new dimension. It was a whole new way of looking at everything, every item she saw holding an entirely new experience for her to try. Excited to discover her new ability some more, without even thinking, Alyssa immediately ran up to a nearby tree and placed her hand on it, allowing herself to be pulled into it. The tree's trunk turned white, and the leaves turned light blue. Puffy white flowers resembling tiny clouds appeared among the foliage.

"See, what did I tell you?" Kat yelled up to the top of the tree. "You're a natural now!" She laughed. "No pun intended."

"I know, this is amazing!" Alyssa's voice reverberated through the branches as they shook somewhat. "You ever been a tree before?"

"Yeah, it's great," said Kat. "Here, I'll join you!" Kat placed her hand on another nearby tree and willed herself into it. The trunk turned black with hot pink stripes, certainly an odd look for a tree. The leaves changed similarly, becoming about a 50:50 split between black and purple as flashing hot pink and white lights appeared in the tree, like on a Christmas tree but without the wires.

"Sure is nice, isn't it?" sighed Alyssa. "I feel every single one of my leaves, and taking in sunlight just feels sooo good."

"Definitely, it's a great way to relax," said Kat. "It's so nice comfortably standing up but being fully relaxed at the same time, supported by your roots."

"Yeah, I noticed that!"

They both just sat there relaxing for what had to be almost an hour. As the girls' human personalities lay more and more dormant, the trees' colors gradually faded back to normal, Alyssa's flowers and Kat's lights fading away. If anyone had walked by—several people had, actually—they would never have suspected that deep inside each of those two trees lay the essence of a young woman, enjoying a relaxing existence as the tree. "I should fall asleep like this on a night with nice weather," thought Alyssa. "It sounds too good not to try."

The blue and white color, and the cloud-like flowers, returned to Alyssa's tree over the space of about five seconds, and soon after, she stepped out of the trunk, the tree quickly fading to normal once again. Alyssa leaned against Kat's trunk. It felt almost as nice as getting close with her in her human body, since she knew her increasingly-close friend (and now close to lover, she thought) was inhabiting it. "Kat?" she said.

"What is it?" came Kat's voice from the branches, her own personality making itself visible as it was brought to the front once again.

"Let's get going," said Alyssa. "I want to see what else I can try, and don't you want to explore my dimension some more?"

"Yeah, sounds good!" said Kat. The branches rustled as the tree once again returned to looking like a normal tree, Kat in her human body gracefully falling to the ground from the branches, landing on her feet.. "So what did you have in mind?" she said, taking Alyssa's hand.

"How about we go to a department store?" suggested Alyssa. "You know, one of those stores that has everything. You're bound to see something you don't have in your dimension, or notice the lack of something you do." Alyssa smiled. "Plus if there aren't too many people around there's tons of stuff I can try my imprinting on."

"Love that idea," smiled Kat. "Let's go."
