The School
"Alright, it's a bet," Keegan agreed. "How sure are you, though? What if we get caught?"
Kelly laughed.
"You and I both know you can hack into the school's computers and enrol us," She said. Keegan nodded.
"True," He agreed. "I'll accept this mission, on the condition that I choose your form." Kelly nodded.
"So long as I choose yours," Kelly grinned.
Five minutes earlier, Kelly, in a true sense, gave Keegan a challenge: they go back to high school. The reason: a test of endurance; whoever "dropped out" first would be the winner's maid for three weeks. Not being the kind of person to turn down such a challenge, Keegan accepted. Perhaps it would give him good ideas for new inventions…
Three hours later, Trisha and Tasha Endsleigh were enrolled in classes Rosental High.
"C'mon, 'sis'," Kelly called up the stairs. Kelly held the backpack which contained the clothes Keegan had picked out for he. Keegan in question was currently upstairs changing, having volunteered to change first. There was the slamming sound of a door closing, and Kelly grinned in anticipation.
The 16 year old girl who came down the stairs was unrecognizable from Keegan's girl form. She had long black hair with streaks of blonde running through it. She wore a corset/skirt that went to her knees, and black leggings. She wore heavy makeup and black nail polish. Anyone who looked at her would instantly label her as a goth chick.
"I am so getting you for this," Tasha said. Kelly laughed, patting her now-little sister on her head.
"We'll see," She said, going into her room. Tasha huffed and sat on the couch, getting into the role of a goth chick.
Trisha came down in a low-cut tank top and capri pants, long blonde hair and with a smile on her face.
"This isn't so bad," she said. Tasha just gave a knowing half-smile and stood, grabbing her bag.
"Let's go to school," She said.
Trisha parked in the student parking area.
"We'll meet here after class," She said. "Okay?" Tasha nodded. "And if you miss any of your classes, you lose, got it?"
"I got it. The same applies to you, you know," Tasha shot back. "The same goes for any… extra-curricular activities." Trisha blinked.
"What?" She asked.
"It's part of the deal, remember?"
"yeah, but… why would it matter?"
"You'll see," tasha said, climbing out of the car. Once she was gone, Trisha dug through her backpack and found another bag of clothes.
"You sick son of a bitch," she whispered, reading the note placed on top of the bundle.
It read:
CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS @ 12:15! DON'T BE LATE!
The school was just as how Tasha pictured it. Large, with crowded hallways and people who were too involved with their own lives to notice her at the moment. Trisha, on the other hand, found the crowded halls a little strange. She had never really expected this. When she read somewhere that there were close to two thousand students here, she couldn't have pictured it. Now that she was here, however, it was obvious as to how many people were enrolled.
Lunch was where something interesting happened.
Tasha was sitting by herself at a lunch table, picking at her food, when five other people with dark, depressing looks sat down with her. Tasha kept her composure, looking at them in the eye.
"I'm Tasha," She finally said.
"Zeke," Said one.
"Ezzy," Said the girl next to him. They looked like twins.
"Noah."
"Angel."
"Alex," said a long-haired boy. They all looked around fifteen or sixteen. Tasha nodded.
"Cool," She said. Inside, she smiled. She had made some friends.
Things became a little more bearable.
"I like your moves," One of the girls on the cheerleading squad said. "And your attitude is…"
"Enthusiastic," Finished a girl who was grinning from ear to ear.
"I think she'd be perfect," A third girl said. This was met with a chorus of agreeing girls. Trisha smiled, blushing slightly.
"Thanks so much!" She said.
"Don't mention it," Ashley, the lead cheerleader, said. "Practices are Tuesday and Thursday after school okay?" Trisha nodded, grinning. She'd made some friends!
Things became a lot more bearable.
Tasha was glancing around nonchalantly when she saw it happen.
A girl, around her age, was walking down the aisle in between the tables when a boy heading towards her tripped, food and drinks flying from his tray. Tasha winced, expecting to see the girl covered in the mess, but to her surprise, the unexpected happened.
Moments before the trip, the girl stopped where she was, looking over at the boy, a split second before he fell. To the untrained eye, this would be easy to miss, but to Tasha, it was very clear: She had known the boy was about to trip before it happened.
"What's her name?" Tasha asked, motioning to the girl, who had resumed walking.
"Star," Zeke said. "She's part of a different crowd." Tasha nodded, then went back to avoiding everyone's gaze.
"Are you sure of what you saw?" Trisha asked.
"Positive. She knew he would trip," Tasha said, having explained everything as they drove home.
"How?"
"I don't know. Precognition, quantum leaps, time travel, interdimensional travel… I just don' know," Tasha sighed. Trisha glanced over.
"But you're going to find out, right?" She asked. Tasha nodded.
"I'm not taking part of this because of a bet anymore," She said. "There's something going on here that's beyond us, and I'm going to find out what that is, no matter the cost."
