Trial 63
"After a rash of disappearances, police have no further leads as to the vanishings of young males across the state. No one knows when or where the next disappearance will take place, although authorities warn that it will be 'soon'. More at eleven."
Bright lights came on and Andrew blinked, suddenly aware that he was not in his room. He was also very aware that he was naked. Adjusting to the sudden bright light, he looked around. He seemed to be in a cage, one of those pet carriers. Forced on his hands and knees, Andrew panicked and tried to find a way out.
"Hey! Can anyone hear me?" He shouted.
"Quiet!" A voice snapped, and Andrew gasped, feeling something clench around his throat. He could only make rasping sounds now. Reaching up, Andrew found a collar tight against the flesh of his neck.
"I can make that tight enough to cut off oxygen flow to your brain," Said the voice. "But it won't kill you. It'd loosen enough when you pass out."
"Who are you?" Andrew tried to shout, but could only gasp.
"I'm hoping you'll be smart," The voice said, and the owner of the voice walked into view. He was middle aged, mid-forties, maybe. "I'm hoping you won't struggle like the others and force me to eliminate them."
Eliminate? he thought, panic running through his system.
"No, you're smart," The man said. "You're perfect." He walked a short distance to a bank of computers. "Camera, start recording," He said to no one in particular. After a moment, he stepped back towards Andrew.
"This is Dr. Trake, about to initiate trial number sixty-three," Trake said. "Subject's name is Andrew, wearing CoLLar version 2.5. Subject is male, in average condition, age 20, and seems to have no defects of physical or mental nature. In other words, exactly like the other test subjects." He muttered. Trake pulled out a remote. "Injecting anesthesia 457," He said, pressing a button on the remote. Instantly, Andrew felt the collar press something into his neck, injecting something into his jugular. He felt it spreading throughout his body, cold and numbness speading through the injection site. Breathing heavily, he fell to the floor of the cage, loosing feeling through his body.
"Subject is now effectively paralyzed," Trake reported. "This is essential as the next stage is quite painful. Refer to subjects 18A and 19B for failures brought on by psychosis resulting from lack of anesthesia." By this time, all Andrew could do was stare in a single direction; he could not move or even feel his body, and if Trake was right, he was glad he couldn't.
"Now injecting trail serum 342," Trake said. Supposedly the collar would have injected something else into his body, but he couldn't feel it.
"Currently 342 is changing the subjects very genetic code, switching out some proteins for others as it spreads. The agents in the serum are currently multiplying and spreading and changing the subject's body as it sees fit. As we can see, fur is growing all over the subject's body." There was a pause. "Genitalia is currently being changed and reformed as well." Andrew's mind raced. What was this insane doctor doing to him?
Trake continued documenting Andrew's changes, proclaiming to the unseen camera about Andrew's new curves, marveling about how his serum was changing Andrew into a female cat-human hybrid. Andrew could only lie on the floor, hearing about the changes.
"And now we can see the face beginning to change as well," Trake commented, and this Andrew could see. He, rather, she, watched as her face pushed out, her nose and mouth combining to into a muzzle. Her position shifted slightly as her ears moved to the top of her head and became cat-like.
"And now the physical changes are finished," Trake reported. "We can now see the agents leave the subject's system via waste; the urine you see contains both the remnants of the serum as well as the anesthesia." Andrew began to feel a wetness around her legs as she regained feeling in her body. She stood on her hands and knees once more, shocked and angry at the small puddle she was lying in moments before.
"Subject still retains his male mind," Trake reported as she dried off. "See subjects 23C and 4B regarding violent reactions to sudden change of hormones." Trake picked up the remote.
You son of a bitch! Andrew tried to cry out, but the collar was still too
tight for her to speak.
"Now injecting experimental serum MC v 4.1," Trake said, pressing a button. Andrew raised a paw-like hand to her neck as the collar injected yet another drug into her blood stream. "Serum MC is specifically designed to target a certain group of cells, specifically the ones that control memory in the brain." Trake continued. "It is my theory that, when memories of any past life or lives are eliminated, the subject can be easily shaped into whatever persona the experimenter wants. In this case, a pet." Trake smiled as Andrew held her head, a mind-splitting headache roaring through her head. She blinked, trying to resist the sudden changes as her memory was severely damaged. Things went blurry before fading to black.
Trake stood, walking over to the cage.
"See subjects 8E, 15F, and 16Z for severe brain damage brought on by incorrect concentrations of serums," Trake said into the microphone. "Hello?" he said to the sleeping cat-woman. "Andi? My pet?"
The cat-woman opened her eyes and rose expectantly. Trake opened the cage door cautiously. The cat woman stretched, then, still on her hands and knees,
walked out of the cage and rubbed up against Trake's legs, purring. Trake laughed.
"Note that subject 64A, aka 'Andi' appears to be a complete success," He
said. "Must repeat tests for validity. Camera off." The camera obediently shut down, and Trake bent down, manually loosening the collar.
"Would you like some tuna, Andi?" he asked.
"Meow!" Andi answered, a look of joy on her face. Trake laughed again.
"Follow me, my pet," he said, walking towards the exit. Andi obediently followed her master, to whom she felt everlasting love and gratitude to.
Andrew watched all of this from the back of her mind. Currently he (or she) was trapped, a prisoner in her new body. She had no idea how she managed to keep her mind intact, only that she had somehow beaten Trake; and that her body was being controlled by Andi.
No matter, Andrew thought. I managed to get this far. As long as Trake didn't suspect a thing, Andrew had all the time she could need to regain control of her body. Besides, Andi wasn't going anywhere, so long as there was food, water, and comfort.
No, Andrew had all the time in the world. Settling in (so to speak), she watched Andi take her first sniff, then her first taste of tuna.
The waiting game had begun.
