In this two parter, Rei and the five contestants went upstairs of her store to enter what looked like a small apartment. There was a simple living room and small kitchen near the entrance. A small hallway on the left that led to the bedroom and bathroom. For someone so magical, the place looked pretty plain. All of the contestant’s luggage were placed in the middle of the place.

“Was kind of lucky to find a decent place when getting this building. Plumbing was better than my old place and free WiFi!” Rei said.

“This looks like a luxurious place compared to where I live,” Killer said as she finally had her head back on.

“I’m afraid of what you consider decent,” Pretty Pink said, still transformed from last episode.

“It’s nice,” Jeanne said.

“Don’t worry, I can work with this,” Noel said.

“I have so much to say but I don’t have the energy to complain with how awful this is,” Eriza said.

“Good,” Rei said. “Because you all will live here for the time being.”

“Oh goody,” Eriza said sarcastically.

“Now for a simple test as promised. You all need to create your own rooms down the halls. Failure to do so means that you will be forced to have a special form of housing here,” Rei said as she pointed at a shelf.

“Wait, you mean…” Pretty Pink said.

“That’s right. Your heads will sleep on the shelves while your bodies will be placed on stasis until the morning,” Rei said. “Unless you got your own room of course.”

“That’s easy for me to do,” Eriza said as she went to the hall and used her claws to create some markings. Said markings ended up opening a portal in which she stood aside and lizard men appeared out of it to carry her bags from the living room.

“Good job, Eriza! You passed the mock trial!” Rei said.

“Of course, this is meant to be a test of what is expected of us at a basic level,” Eriza said.

“Uh… I actually can do that too!” Noel said as she went to the other side of Eriza’s room and took out a wand. With some runes and flicks, a door appeared.

Said door opened up to reveal a simple dorm room. There was a bed on the left with a desk on the other side. A shelf of books was near the desk, containing information on spells or materials for spells. In magical standards, it was rather plain.

“I got my own improvised plan!” Pretty Pink said as she got out of a small flat toy house that looked as if it came from a kid’s meal. It was white with a cheap looking frame and had the paint faded. The magical woman poked the miniature door with her finger with small steps coming forward.

The door opened to reveal a small tubby white cat with a tied up tuff hair. She had an apron with pink borders but green fabric with images of cats. The cat looked up to Pretty Pink and looked bewildered.

“Rosa! It’s been so long! I know that I seemed busy but you are free to just knock and chat,” the cat said.

“Hey Belladonna, been kind of busy and dealing with adult stuff you know. Married, writing a book, a bit sad not seeing the gang again, and all the stuff you warned me before,” Pretty Pink said.

“Seeing you transformed means that there’s danger again, huh?” Belladonna asked.

“Actually, I kind of need the magic to be in a magic reality show,” Pretty Pink said.

“Oh… it had to be one of those episodes where you abuse your powers for personal gain again?” Belladonna asked.

“I took some time to think about it and I haven’t been using my powers for years. I’m in a show to be someone’s assistant and probably do some training in the process,” Pretty Pink said. “I know I’m rusty and I miss being that hero again.”

“ANGA? It’s a bit early for season 3,” Belladonna said. “That Maya girl from season 2 look like a sweetie.”

“Not exactly,” Pretty Pink said. “I kind of need to crash in your place as housing here as part of a challenge.”

“Well, I guess it can’t hurt. We could use that time to catch up on things when you’re not participating in this show you in,” Belladonna said. “Just don’t get yourself in trouble.”

“I won’t,” Pretty Pink said as she got her toy wand and had her luggage float to her.

“Just be mindful of the kids, they are pretty wild,” Belladonna said.

“Oh. How’s Scampers?” Pretty Pink said.

“Oh you know, since he is a regular cat, just being a cat. I do the feeding and outside work and he cares for the kids and the house. At least in his cat way,” Belladonna said. “Well I’ll help you unpack.”

The luggage and the magical girl managed to squeeze right into the small house. The door shut as the toy stood onto the wall. Rei came by to have a look and nodded with approval.

“Interesting. Different from your portals or pocket dimensions a little but similar to a tardis from Doctor Who,” Rei said as she then turned to Jeanne and Killer. “So, what do you two got?”

“Uh… I actually don’t have that type of magic,” Jeanne said. “I do know advanced magic skills but not these types.”

“I normally just sleep wherever or in enclosed spaces during missions,” Killer said.

“Looks like you two are warming those shelves tonight,” Rei said with a disappointed look. “It’s a shame since this was meant to show your variety. Though perhaps you shine in other aspects but this is not a good first impression.”

“I’m sorry,” Jeanne said.

“I’m still going to kill you, Rei Shinozaki,” Killer said.

“I’m not mad. I’m just showing some tough love and seeing what you girls can do for now. You can make it up later,” Rei said in a reassuring voice. “Heads off girls, you are in curfew now.”

Jeanne and Killer took their heads off and went to the shelves. They were placed together with spare pillows to sit on luckily. Rei then used her wand to make their bodies disappear to who knows where.

“Ah! My body!” Jeanne cried.

“Don’t worry. They are in a pocket dimension,” Rei said. “After today, I’ll allow you two the ability to shift from head to body on the shelves. But for now, you two are stuck like that for the day.”

Killer just stared at Rei while Jeanne looked at the bounty hunter with a worried expression. The bounty hunter looked back at the vampire’s head and gave her a dull expression.

“I have no desire to kill you, Jeanne de Luca. Only Rei Shinozaki. You can relax as they say,” Killer said.

“That’s not exactly the only reason why I’m afraid of you,” Jeanne said. “No offense but you look kind of scary.”

“Oh?” Killer said. “I do have some idea on how to be less intimidating but I have been told that I’m much more frightening when I do.”

“Just stay the way you are,” Jeanne said.

“Oh don’t worry girls, the other three will keep you two company for a bonding exercise before I give you five the first main challenge!” Rei said as she looked at the halls. “Alright girls! I need you out for a bit.”

After some time, Eriza, Pretty Pink, and Noel came to the living room. The three contestants stared mostly at the heads of Jeanne and Killer on the shelf instead of Rei who was about to give announcements.

“Oh ho ho ho! Looks like you two clearly aren’t as advanced as us three,” Eriza mocked.

“Actually, they are not specialized in that type of magic,” Rei said. “Now then. Congratulations to you three in my mock test. You gave me a good idea on what you were capable of.”

“Of course,” Eriza said.

“Thank you,” Noel said.

“Yep yep!” Pretty Pink said.

“Now, you may think these two are basically up here to be mocked at. Not really. They will just be on the shelf instead of a room. That does not mean you three will be exempt from being on the shelf for today,” Rei said.

“What?” Noel asked. “Oh, sorry for speaking up like that.”

“It’s okay,” Rei said.

“But we passed the mock test,” Eriza said.

“True and your reward is that you get to return to your rooms after this activity. Your heads will be on the shelf for all five of you to know each other. I will be around to make sure you five are safe and probably get dinner ready,” Rei said as she got coupons. “There’s a nice party deal at Panda Chow! Beef or chicken?”

“Chicken,” Killer said.

“Beef,” Jeanne said as she looked at Killer. “Uh…”

“I just prefer chicken, but let’s see what the others think,” Killer said.

“Beef!” Pretty Pink said.

“Beef and chicken,” Eriza said.

“Is there a veggie option? I’m okay with meat but too much can make my stomach feel off,” Noel said.

“Beef it is,” Rei said. “It’s sadly a deal for the mega beef deal or chicken. No mix or additional options. Sorry Noel and Eriza.”

“I can tolerate it,” Noel said.

“Now you three, head off and place them on the pillows. You’ll be surprised with how much you will know each other for the day,” Rei said.

“And if I refuse?” Eriza asked.

“No dinner for you then,” Rei said.

“Hmph! Fine!” Eriza said. “I am curious about Eerth food, but I will force you all to try the cuisine of my homeland if it fails to meet my expectations.”

“You mean Earth,” Pretty Pink said.

“Whatever!” Eriza said as she had her head off.

The other two girls took their heads off and placed them on the shelf while their bodies enter the ether that Rei claimed to place them in. It went by the order of Noel, Jeanne, Eriza, and Pretty Pink. The bodies made sure that they had their hair to themselves and the heads were sitting comfortably. However, Pretty Pink’s head was the most difficult to contain due to her hair.

“Yuck! I have your hair in my mouth!” Eriza said.

“Sorry!” Pretty Pink said.

“I’m so high,” Noel said.

“Hmm, I’m not upside down. No wonder it feels off,” Jeanne said. “I prefer to be upside down in high places.”

“Need some help?” Killer said.

“Oh no, I’m fine,” Jeanne said.

“This is just great. I have to be stuck with some mortals as a head,” Eriza said.

“We’re all in this together and we’ll get through this together!” Pretty Pink said as she tilt her head to do a pose of sorts.

“Your hair's on my face again!” Eriza said as she blew it off.

“It’s great to see you five getting along,” Rei said as she helped Jeanne be placed upside down to be more vampire-like.

“So, what about the main challenge?” Noel asked.

“For the first main challenge next week, you five will perform in the streets with me. You will be in charge of thinking of an act with me. Unlike most magic assistants, your job will be to assist in performing on me. I will be the one going through the changes or be the victim of my own magic. While you girls will assist in making that happen,” Rei said.

“Permission to speak, ma’am?” Noel asked.

“Oh right, can’t raise your hands,” Rei said. “Just ask any questions when I finish a sentence.”

“Where does our magic come into play?” Noel asked.

“For this challenge, the acts will be themed around your abilities. All I will do is adapt to your themes. In a normal performance, I would do all of the thinking of acts. For this one, it will be the reverse with me making sure it will work,” Rei said. “We start rehearsals tomorrow! For now, just take some time to know each other.”

Rei left to attend to side stuff as the five disembodied contestants were left alone. The heads kept silent to themselves due to how awkward their position is. However, Pretty Pink changed back to Rosa to shorten her hair and spoke up.

“So… what do you girls aspired to do here?” Rosa asked. “I just wanted to be Pretty Rose again and improve on my magic.”

“Killing Rei Shinozaki,” Killer said.

“That’s obvious,” all the other heads said.

“Using this store as a magic base for world domination, with Rei as a loyal subject,” Eriza said arrogantly.

“That’s not how things work around here,” Noel said.

“What do you know?” Eriza said.

“The entire point of this show is for Rei to find an assistant for her returning stage magic career after going missing. I read it all up on her website and bio,” Noel said. “I got to know my potential boss so that I can have a higher chance to work well with her before moving to bigger things.”

“I kind of have similar goals,” Jeanne said. “Just for something a bit more personal.”

“You don’t have to say it,” Rosa said.

“Well… what I can say is that I don’t want to be a failure and maybe this show will help with that,” Jeanne said.

“That’s a good start,” Rosa said.

“Not doing so well right now though,” Eriza said.

“Rude!” Rosa said.

“I only speak the truth,” Eriza said.

“We’re all heads here,” Rosa said. “We have some distinct stuff about us, but the thing we have in common right now is that we got no bodies.”

“That’s an interesting way of saying that we’re equals,” Noel said. “I think that’s what you meant.”

“Yep yep!” Rosa said.

“That’s kind of sweet,” Jeanne said.

“Hmph! I am not your equal. In terms of heads, I’m probably more valuable,” Eriza said.

“I don’t really think much of you four equally, no offense,” Killer said.

The heads kept on arguing with Jerome recording the entire thing. Despite being in front of private territory, he went up to the girls and asked.

“Need any snacks or something girls?” Jerome asked. “I know you girls have no stomachs, but you know.”

“I’m fine,” Noel said.

“Me too,” Jeanne said.

“I’m quite content,” Killer said.

“Yes please!” Rosa said.

“Sure. I also demand a message with some head pats,” Eriza ordered.

“Alrighty! Some snacks for the magical girl and the same with spa treatment for the demon,” Jerome said.
