Ophelia sat in from of a shelf filled with heads that claimed to be from her coven before. She was more fixated with three heads that she sort of recognized as notable elders in her coven.
We have Persephone of the Dark Wood, the witch that once found and mastered the balance between life and death and named after the daughter of Hades. In legends of old, she is depicted as cold and calculative elderly lady who everyone feared yet desire her wisdom. Today, she appeared as cheerful, ditzy, and boastful while looking a bit younger than Ophelia based on how she interacted with the other heads.
"Hey Olivia! I mean Ophelia! How you been? Clearly you need some tips on style. You look like a mess but as your elder, I can help!" Persephone said.
Then there is Rhiamon, the prophet of Mother Gaia who speaks to all life on Earth. She was well known for her skills in botany but showed disdain towards humanity's hubris over Earth. She was described as sickly back in the day but here she looked pretty healthy with her head sitting next to a plant while talking to it.
"I don't know Sunny. She seemed closed minded," Rhiamon said, "Heads are different though since they aren't really human anymore."
Lastly there is Theodora who was known for traveling the world to strengthen her affinity in magic. It is stated that she has done so for years while staying diligent and energetic. For the most part she is like that but her appearance suggest otherwise as she looked barely as old as an apprentice.
"Yo! How it's hanging rookie?" Theodora said.
"You all disappoint me," Ophelia said. "Very different from what I have heard from you."
"It's been many years! Are we not allow to change to regain our youth?" Persephone said.
"Honestly, I only took this form to regain some fun that I ignored back in the day. Always studying and training. Not that I stopped but thanks to bonding with the Mother, I learn that life is more than getting stronger," Theodora said.
"I talk to plants and Mother Gaia more than usual but slowly opening up to humans. Granted as heads. Though Rei is the only human so far that I can tolerate. I don't know about you," Rhiamon said.
"What advice do you three are begging me to present?" Ophelia asked.
"Are you aware of one flaw that most witches in our Coven have?" Persephone asked.
"Not that I am aware of," Ophelia said.
"For all of our talk about being one with Mother Gaia, we have this major flaw that keeps us from doing so. Us three and the other heads here are able to overcome that flaw. But don't think being a head is the only way. We're just prime examples. All the heads you see here have bonded with Mother Gaia. Those that do not have no right on this shelf," Rhiamon said, "Also because more heads scare me and it gets crowded easily if we bring in any head from the coven."
"Honestly, I thought it's just to make us feel important. Rei is so great for considering our feelings," Persephone said.
"That's not a nice assumption! The newbies are as important too. I also want to see how the new girls are like! Maybe to fit in. Using astral vision is getting boring," Theodora said.
"So what you are telling me is that I need to figure out this flaw and I will be able to be one with Mother Gaia?" Ophelia said.
"More like a step closer but we never said it was easy. It took me 83 years to do so!" Persephone said, "I was the youngest to ever reached that far."
"I thought it was Cordelia the fool that was the youngest," Rhiamon said, "Granted, she's not a head here but still."
"Please do not mention her name. She is a questionable figure," Ophelia said, "It's a miracle that she managed all of that."
"It took me 100 years to get to where I am. I'm not proud to be a head but still," Theodora said.
"It took me 98 years," Rhiamon said.
"No need to put salt in the wound," Theodora said.
"So Young Ophelia, will you accept our advice?" Persephone asked, "In addition to it, we will give you further instructions."
"I might as well," Ophelia said.
"Typical human hubris," Rhiamon said.
"I sent you a telepathic map of where you need to go. Alone," Persephone said.
"You are to meditate in that specific spot until you get what we mean," Rhiamon said.
"Feel free to do so anyway you like. As long as it works," Theodora said, "Take your time and feel free to do anything to prepare for it."
"Thank you," Ophelia said as she left the head shop.
...
When she finally had free time, Ophelia went to the spot that she was told to go. It appeared to be in the middle of nowhere in the woods. Standing at the spot that she is supposed to mediate, she drank a potion that suddenly reduced her to being only a head on the ground.
"This better work," Ophelia said as she closed her eyes and meditated.
So far there was nothing. There were no mystic visions or anything of the sorts. Just the cool breeze from the wind, the rustling from the trees, and the occasional cries of the wild life. Ophelia meditated hard but nothing appeared. However, she felt relaxed after so long of doing nothing but work for her coven.
Ophelia opened her eyes and sighed, "I see nothing. I must be doing something wrong."
The witched tried again as she closed her eyes but can't help but let herself go. She just sat there relaxed and at ease. All she felt was the sounds and breeze of nature.
Then suddenly, Ophelia hears a voice calling out for her.
"Hey! You doing okay?"
Ophelia woke up, seeing herself fully bodied again. The potion's effect must have wear off. The witch found herself surrounded by heads in a circle, most she recognized from Rei's head shop in the Coven section. Heck, the head of Rei was among these heads.
"Oh hey Ophelia! We just so happen to see you mediating here!" Rei said, "We're having our annual mediation."
Persephone decided to add in, "It's where we come to this specific spot to have a stronger connection to Mother Gaia. There are many spots but this is the closest."
"This is my first time here so these heads are guiding me," Rei said.
"I... I'm sorry. I think I failed you Lady Persephone, Lady Rhiamon, Lady Theodora, and everyone. I dozed up and gotten too relaxed while meditating. I didn't see anything besides just nature," Ophelia said, "Are you saying that I have much more to learn?"
"Technically but we're actually proud of you," Rhiamon said.
"Yeah. Not many witches get the idea but you managed to get close," Theodora said.
"Excuse me?" Ophelia asked.
"The new generation is too tensed. Being bound by Earthly desires and duties. Trying to force things rather than let things happen," Rhiamon said.
"My apprentice really failed you this time. Then again, I was more aggressive and cruel to her so maybe it was more difficult to tell her what I learned after she moved on," Persephone said, "I guess it's my fault too."
"So you are telling me that the entire lesson is to get lazy?" Ophelia asked.
"You moron! We meant be one with nature and be like the Earth. Go with the flow and all. That helps you connect with our Mother. You have lots to learn but you have potential. Heck, you might be the youngest to get so far besides Cordelia the fool," Theodora said.
"Besides that, you could have done more but we're proud of you," Persephone said, "Now then, will you like to join us?"
"Hmm... how about another time? I still need to figure things out in my own way but take your words into consideration," Ophelia said as she left the heads.
"We see a bright future for her but I doubt she'll join us," Persephone said, "We could change the course of the future."
"Let it go Persephone," Rhiamon said, "She'll make up her own mind and maybe change it. The future is a bit murky but it's mostly good for her."
"I really wonder if she will buy any of us. Any look into the future failed for her specifically. I think Mother Gaia has plans for her and don't want us to interfere," Theodora said.
"We'll just be supportive as always but not directly interfere," Persephone said.
