I heard that there is a special kind of hair salon here with a secret technique. Friends tell me that it's something to lose my head over with so I made an appointment to see what they got. Little did I know was that it was more literal than I expected.
When I first went to the salon, I thought the name "Heads over Heels" was a bit silly and thought that it was just a theme. Especially with their slogan "You'll lose your heads over us" with posters featuring the heads of some girls. When I did enter the salon, I only saw a receptionist by the face. I'd assume that she was sitting on a high table until I got a closer look. She was only a head.
"Welcome, do you have an appointment for the day?" the head asked.
"Yyes! Yes I do for 5:30 pm," I answered.
"Great, a receptionist will be taking your head in a moment," the receptionist said.
"My head?" I asked.
"Of course. Did you read the slogan?" the receptionist told me.
"I thought it was more of a metaphor," I said.
"Trust me, that's the least of your worries. Oh, your barber is here," the receptionist said.
I turned around and saw what appears to be a headless body who reached out for my head and twisted it side to side. That was when I also saw more headless bodies that I assume were waiting for their heads. I suddenly felt numb from the neck down as I heard a "pop" and I was only a head! I couldn't move and was at the mercy of this headless body as I watched my own body join with the others.
I was then carried to the actual salon as I met a strange sight of a barber full of headless bodies grooming disembodied heads. With me being a part of all of this. I would have pinch my cheek, thinking this was a dream but I had no hands. I might as well enjoy the ride.
The body carried me to a station where I was set on a table as the body went to get her tools. Looking to the left, I see a head with blond hair that was tied up and smiling at me.
"Hi, I'm Rachael and my body will be of service of you today. Is this your first time?" the head asked.
"Yes," I answered, "So can I ask a couple of questions?"
"Sure," Rachael said.
I then rambled, "What is up with this place? Why am I a head? Why are you a head? And and..."
"Don't be losing your head much more than you should here. The simple answer is magic and it's our unique way to do haircuts without the baggage of a body in the way. I'm only a head to just interact with you as my body does all the work. Trust me, you'll love it here," Rachael said.
"I guess I like this feeling of being helpless," I said.
"That's the spirit," the head told me.
The body then make quick work on my hair as she first placed me in a sink while washing my hair. I never thought of being able to fit in a sink before. Rachael kept me company by just talking to me about anything to keep me from being bored. Though I sometimes get lost in the feeling of getting my hair washed by delicate hands with water pouring onto me.
I was then taken out to dry and had my hair cut with a razor and a pair of scissors. Since I could not move much as a head, Rachael's body was able to cut my hair without my body in the way. God, I never thought I be able to think that was possible but it was overwhelming for me.
My head was sometimes placed on odd positions like on the side or upside down which feels a bit disorienting. It's a lot worse when you lack a body and can't move so I ended up just suck like that. Though, I did not mind it too much because it was a bit fun.
When I finally got my hair cut done, I can't believe that I look so stylish. I was looking at a mirror and was amazed with what I got along with the experience. No wonder my friends recommended this place. I was then placed on a shelf with a bunch of other heads who had a similar sense of satisfaction as me. Some of them being first timers like me while others just seemed happy to experience it again.
Eventually, I was carried off to meet my body again where I was whole once more. It felt very foreign to have a body again after being only a head for about half a hour. I then went to pay up front to the disembodied receptionist with my credit card.
"Thank you for your services and I am definitely tipping Rachael," I said.
"Your welcome. Feel free to lose your head anytime. Even outside of this salon," the receptionist said.
I became curious as I reached out for my head and twisted it for a bit. After a strong tug, "pop". I was a head once more as I was tucked under my arm. I smiled over the fact that I can be a head anytime I want and left the salon. Can't way to show off my new look.
