“Coffee. I need coffee.”
Ava’s head was thumping and her mouth felt like a cat litter tray.
“Just do this for me and I’ll get you a large vanillacino,” Sean said, propelling her down the street towards the Venn machines.
“Away, demon,” Ava scowled. “That’s not a coffee, that’s a milkshake.”
“Fine, I’ll get you a double ristretto. Then you’ll be awake all day to deal with that hangover.”
Ava and Sean exchanged looks.
“You’re going to say it, aren’t you?” Ava sighed.
“Probably. Oh, alright, yes. I told you so. Don’t stay up drinking that bottle of chardonnay with Melanie, I said before I left. Get to bed, I said before I left.”
“This is all your fault, you know.”
“My fault?! How?”
“If you'd been at home last night fucking us, we wouldn’t have had the time to get drunk in the first place.”
“Some of us have a family that lives in the same town,” Sean pointed out. “And sometimes that family asks us to dinner.”
Ava chuckled. She really wasn’t angry with Sean. Although, yes, if he’d been in her bed last night, she probably wouldn’t have finished off an entire bottle of wine.
“So,” she said casually, “did you tell your parents?”
“About the engagement?” Sean suddenly looked rather evasive. “Not yet, no. I want Melanie and I to be there together when we tell them. Maybe in a couple of weeks.”
Ava sighed. She was really happy her two best friends were getting married — heck, she’d been their engagement ring, at least temporarily — but she was still anxious about what it would mean for their relationship.
Hell, she should be honest with herself. She was in love with both Sean and Melanie, and she felt left out.
“Well, here we are at the Venn machine!” Sean said brightly. The trust machines stood in an open space between the ATMs and two diners. At this time of a weekday morning only a couple were in use. The shopping mall, which had initially tried to get rid of the mysterious Venn machines, had long ago given up and installed lockers and even change rooms for their Venning shoppers.
Ava went to stash their bags and wallets as Sean got out a dollar he’d kept aside to use in the machines.
“Don’t forget, I’d like to be a little shorter than usual,” Sean reminded her. “And hair a little bit more quiffy … that’s a word, right?”
“One of these days you’re going to get tired of the rockabilly girl look.”
“Me? Never! Not female me, anyway.”
Ava looked at the little smile on Sean’s face and something in her skipped a beat. She walked over to him, kept walking and bumped him into the Venn machine. As Sean’s eyes widened, she planted her lips over his and gave him a long, lingering kiss. As she did she lightly ran her fingers over his crotch.
She pulled away and grinned at his look of surprise.
“Just wanted to remind myself what your thing is like before I make it go away,” she said.
Sean didn’t quite know what to say.
“C’mon then, sweetie, stick that dollar in the machine and I’ll make you a woman,” Ava said. “And then I’m holding you to that double ristretto.”

“Coffee. I need coffee.”
“Why, what did you do last night?” Bella asked, surprised, as Melanie stumbled out of her apartment to join her on the stairs. Bella and her girlfriend Anna lived in the apartment above Mel, Sean and Ava’s.
“I stupidly tried to keep up with Ava while drinking a bottle of wine.”
Sadly, Bella shook her head. “Oh, Mel, don’t you know any better? I’ve seen Ava drink my brother under the table.”
“Knew better. Did it anyway.” Melanie flinched as the girls exited the building and she was hit by the roar of the nearby traffic. “Maybe I could venn myself into a person without a hangover.”
“It doesn’t work like that, as you know very well. Hey, if you want to get coffee, shouldn’t we ask Ava if she wants to come?”
“Ava’s up already. She agreed to go venn Sean this morning.”
Bella grinned. “See? Impervious.”
“Please, don’t task me with long words while I’m hung over,” Melanie said, pulling her hair back into a ponytail. “So, what did you do last night, then? I bet it didn’t involve drinking.”
“Actually, it kind of did,” Bella smiled. “Anna and I went out with Harper and her girlfriend for dinner. I also signed the papers, so you’re officially looking at the owner of a yoga studio. Well, a third of one, anyway.”
“Ooh, congratulations!”
“Yeah, and then we visited a Venn machine so I could tell them how to make Harp’s boobs bigger. Turns out her girlfriend has a thing for big boobs.”
“Really? Hey, where should we go for coffee? The diner at the mall or Kat’s place?”
Bella thought for a second. “Uh, let’s go to the diner. I’d feel a bit weird visiting Kat without Anna.”
“Sure. So, hey, when did you become the go-to expert on big boob making?”
“Uh, well, Harper asked me because I guess I was the only person she knew who venned. We’d done a swap before where I gave her DDs.”
“Oh?” Melanie knew a story when she heard one. “And what did she do for you?”
“Let’s get our coffee and I’ll tell you all about it.”
***
“Coffee. I need coffee.”
“Coming right up,” Kat called as Anna pushed the door of her cafe open. She didn’t ask for her order. She didn’t need to. One cappuccino, two sugars was Anna’s standard order as she called in on her way to her design college.
Anna gazed at the long-sleeved shirt and tie Kat wore. “That’s kind of a new look for you. I thought you usually tried to show off your tattoos at work.”
“Anna, I don’t wear singlets to work because I want to show off my tatts,” Kat told her. “I wear ‘em because it gets really hot working behind the coffee machine. But thanks, yeah, glad you like the look today.”
An image flashed into Anna’s mind of her friend the last time they’d played together. She’d been naked, with the tattoos that covered her arms and back on show, and how nice they’d been to see. Of course, Kat had also been eight inches tall at the time, which was also a turn-on. How helpless she’d been in Anna’s hands.
Maybe the next time they played, Anna would turn her into a actual Barbie doll. Again.
“Here you are, hon,” Kat said, handing over her coffee. “How’s Bella?”
“Um, pretty good,” Anna said. “We went out to dinner with her boss last night. Bella’s going to co-own her new yoga studio. She’s actually got the week off while the new studio’s set up.”
Kat’s eyes lit up. “Hey, maybe we could go for dinner one night. The three of us.”
“Sure, that’d be cool.” Anna was happy her girlfriend and Kat were getting so friendly.
She turned to leave. And almost ran head-first into Flick.
“Anna! Hi!” the tall thin woman said brightly. “I was hoping I’d run into you. Got a minute?”
“Um, sure.”
“One tall latte, thanks, Kat,” Flick called. “Anna and I will just be outside.”

Sean gazed at herself in the bathroom mirror. As she’d asked, Ava had made her short — short and cute. She barely cleared four foot ten. Her raven black hair was quiffed up, cut so short at the sides it was basically stubble, and had a red bandana tied around it.
She smiled at her reflection. When she changed gender in a Venn machine, she also changed faces. You could never quite copy the exact face of the person you were changing, and she’d got used to having different features within a certain range. Her eyes were always dark, her lips full. Most of the time she had a blue streak in her hair, as her male form did. Not today, though. Maybe she hadn’t had enough hair in front for Ava to do a stripe.
Of the people who she trusted to change her, Ava was the most consistent. Melanie tended to emphasise the features on Sean she liked best, giving her exaggerated curves, while Anna tended to make her look a little too perfect a woman, so she seemed slightly bland and generic.
Sean spotted her ear studs and smiled. They were the same ones she wore when she was male. It was that attention to detail which made Ave her favourite Venn partner.
Ava. What the hell had that kiss been about? Sure, they’d kissed before, usually when they were in bed, but their usual kiss in public was much more demure.
That kiss had made her all tingly inside.
The door opened and Evie, one of her fellow workers, walked in. She stopped. “Sean?”
“Hey, Eve.”
“Um. Wow. You’re … short today. Even shorter than me, and that’s saying something.” Evie walked towards the stall. “What’s with the lack of height? Going to try some real high heels?”
Sean shrugged. “Just a whim.”
“Well. You look cute.”
“Thanks.”
The stall door closed, and Evie’s voice floated over the top. “Like the hair. A lot.”
“Thanks again.”
Sean pushed the bathroom door open and went off to her station at the back of the bookstore.
She kept thinking about that kiss.
***
She kept thinking about that kiss.
As in, what was she thinking?
Ava sighed. She wasn’t usually that demonstrative in public. Somehow, she’d just wanted to let Sean know just how she felt about him.
And how do you feel about him? The voice in the back of her head was just a whisper but it was there.
She gulped down the rest of her coffee, feeling the caffeine jolt her synapses back into action. Which was good, because, she realised, she’d been wandering away from the mall aimlessly and had drifted several blocks away from anywhere she needed to be.
Fuck. So many feels. Maybe she could talk to her sister, who was coming to town in a week.
Or better still, maybe she could ask someone to Venn her into something inanimate for a while so she didn’t have to think.
About three months should do it.
***
“I can’t believe you asked her that!”
“Close your mouth, Mel, you’ll catch flies.” Bella took a long sip of her frappe. “Besides, if I remember rightly, you were the pioneer in she-male Venning. In fact, I remember the bragging about how you and Sean had …”
“It’s not that,” Melanie broke in. She sat back in her seat at the cafe. “It’s asking your boss to give you a penis.”
Bella shrugged. “Well, I had the day off, and she was on the other side of the Venn machine, so …”
“Was she shocked?”
“A little, I guess. But then she really got into it. And as a bisexual, she’s seen a lot more penises than me.”
Melanie drained her cup. “It’s been a while since I had a dick. We should do each other some day.”
“Sure.”
“So, maybe … today?”
Bella blinked. “Now?”
“Why not? Neither of us are doing anything. Give our other halves a treat.”
“Your other half being Sean or Ava?”
“Um, both of course.” Melanie’s expression turned wicked. “Preferably at the same time.”
“Argh. Not listening to your sordid threesome stories.”
“Hey, it means a lot of attention paid to yours truly. So … futa?”
“Yer what?”
Melanie shook her head. “You’ve got to get with pop culture, Bel. Futanari? Japanese manga?”
“Is that comics? I don’t read comics.”
“Okay, let me put it like this. Wanna give me a big dick, girlfriend?”
“Well, when you put it that way …”

Anna waited as Flick grabbed her coffee from Kat. She didn’t know Flick very well — or at all, really. She’d been introduced to her as a friend of one of Kat’s ex-girlfriends, a fairly large number, if all the stories she’d heard from Kat were true.
“Thanks, Kat.” The cropped-hair woman turned to her, takeaway coffee cup in hand.
“So, Anna,” she began. “I hope you don’t mind me grabbing you like this, but … I’d like to ask a favour.”
“Uh-huh,” Anna said.
Flick gave a nervous laugh. “The fact is, Kat was telling me how you turned your friends into clothing, and even things like sunscreen, and … well, I’m surprised by my reaction to it, but it’s just hooked me … and I have no idea what a Venn machine does except you need two people, and … I was wondering … would you Venn me?”
Anna was silent for a second as Flick turned red.
“Um, I mean, it’s kind of a private thing and … I mean, Kat would be able to … if you asked …”
“I can pay you,” Flick blurted. “How about $50? To change me and look after me for the day?”
The offer took Anna aback. “It’s not the money, it’s just … but … I guess if it’s that important to you …”
“It is. It’s just crowding out my mind. I just want to do it, know what it’s like. I know I’m getting obsessed but …” Another nervous laugh. “So … now?”
“Now?” Anna frowned. “I guess I could … I mean, I’m on my way to class but it’s not that far away …”
“Great!” Flick said a little too eagerly. “So, we should hurry, right?” She drained her paper cup of coffee. Not that she needs it, Anna thought, she already looked wired.
“This way.” Anna walked off down the block, Flick trailing behind her.
Something occurred to Anna. “So, what did you want to be?”
A faraway look came to Flick’s face. “Perfume. I want to be perfume. And please … use me.”

“Hey, guys! Wait up!”
The voice was unfamiliar, and Sean and Evie turned around. There was a tall Asian woman chasing them. It took a second for the penny to drop.
“Richard?” Sean said.
“Uh-huh,” Richard said, grinning. “You like my new look?” She did a twirl.
“Very classy,” Evie grinned. “Makes a change from the blonde Nordic type you were last week.”
“And the Goth the week before that,” Sean added.
“Eh, it’s nice to try new things,” Richard said. “You guys going to lunch at the Rex? Mind if I tag along?”
“Be our guest,” Evie said, slightly to Sean’s disappointment. She had nothing against Richard but she was hoping to just chill out with her friend, grab a sandwich and maybe a smoothie.
“So, Sean,” Richard said, “I’m digging the hair. Who Venned it?”
“My friend Ava. You’ve probably met her. She comes into the store sometimes.”
“The blonde girl in the ripped jeans?”
“Nah, that’s Melanie, my girlfriend. Ava’s got black hair, used to have a sidecut, usually wears black. Maybe you saw her at the Christmas party?”
“Uh, Sean,” Evie giggled, “she wasn’t there in human form.”
“Oh. You’re right.”
Richard looked from one to the other as they crossed the road. “Not in human form? What was she?”
“Jewellery,” Sean said. “She went as my earrings.”
“Your earrings? You wore your friend to the Christmas party?” Richard looked intrigued. “That sounds … intimate.”
“She suggested it. She has a thing for being jewellery … amongst other things.”
“You’re lucky,” Richard sighed as they entered the cafe. “My boyfriend won’t go inanimate. Or even to animal.”
“Oh, he’s missing out!” Evie said. “Being a cat is the best way to spend the weekend. Yeah, when my partner tickles me behind the ears, it’s better than sex.”
“Huh. Maybe I should try that. What about you, Sean? How would you like to spend the weekend?”
Sean thought of Saturday night, turned into a skimpy G-string, hugging Anna’s butt, matching Ava as a bra and Melanie as a pair of stockings.
“Not really,” she said.
***
This penis felt different.
It wasn’t the fact that it was a penis; Bella had swapped her female genitals for male several times before this. Having something between her legs … something different between her legs … didn’t feel weird.
This did.
She caught Melanie sneaking a glance at her crotch.
“Mel, what did you do?”
“I have no idea what you mean,” Melanie said, attempting an air of innocence that had the contradictory effect of making her look incredibly guilty.
“Mel …”
“Oh, okay, I gave you a little gift.”
“A gift.”
“It’ll be fun for you.” Melanie giggled as they entered their building. “Well, fun for you and Anna. That girl has a thing for piercings, right?”
The penny dropped. “You gave me a Prince Albert?!”
“Sure. Is that not a good thing? I mean, you’re the girl with flesh tunnels in your ears.”
“Just to keep Anna company. And I’m shrinking them now.”
Melanie unlocked the front door of her apartment. “Well, come on in. Drop your pants.”
Bella did her best Look. “Drop. My. Pants.”
“I want to see my handiwork. It’s not like I haven’t seen it before.”
“You realise those two statements are contradictory, right?” Bella snorted. “I’m not going to show you my penis.”
“Spoilsport. I’ll show you mine.”
“I don’t want to see yours either!”
“Aw, come on,” Melanie wheedled. She started undoing her jeans. “Look! Don’t you want to see how the dick you made turned out? Look at this bulge!”
“Melanie, you are a fucking nut.” Bella sighed. “Okay, I’ll show it to you, but no funny stuff, okay?”
“Okay!”
Melanie was impressed by the silver ring punctuating Bella’s glans.
And Bella was slightly shocked by just how big she’d made Melanie.
***
Ava was shopping. For some reason she had gravitated to the nearest Victoria’s Secret, and was trying on some silk underwear in a pale purple. In the change rooms, she stood in the matching bra and panties.
Not bad, she thought to herself as she checked out her reflection in the mirror. She thanked her parents for her metabolism, which kept her in pretty good trim despite her almost complete lack of exercise. Maybe she should tag along the next time Sean and Mel went surfing. Of course, usually Mel was a surfboard.
She tugged at her bra. Was it the right size? She’d got spoilt with Venn machines, where a bra — and all the other clothing you made — was the perfect size for you.
An image of Sean wearing this bra and panties sprang to her mind.
It made a nice picture.
It made an even nicer picture if she imagined herself being the bra and panties.
She’d take these.
***
Anna sniffed. The scent she was wearing was fairly bland, and thank God for that. Wearing an overpowering perfume in class would have been a big no-no.
She was drawing dresses. Over the next few weeks she’d actually have to make a dress from scratch. She was slightly nervous about it; she had a good eye for design but wasn’t a particularly talented tailor.
She realised she’d drawn herself wearing the dress. Amused, she lightly shaded in her haircut, the long brown hair that hid her shorter bits, thanks to the death hawk she was growing out.
She sniffed again.
Flick had been almost trembling with excitement when she’d climbed into the Venn machine. Anna had warned her not to attempt to change her, Anna, but she needn’t have bothered. Flick was totally concentrating on her own transformation.
She felt in her dress pocket, at the little bottle there.
Yep, that was Flick, all right.
Maybe she’d put some more on at the afternoon break. Flick did want to be used, after all.
Hey, maybe she should make Kat something like that. Perfume. Or baby oil. Yeah, think of her rubbing Kat all over her body …
Absent-mindedly, Anna began to draw tattoo designs on her drawing of herself, going up her left arm.

As the bookstore’s assistant manager, Sean didn’t usually tackle the shelves herself. But once a geek, always a geek, and she was filling in some quiet time by restocking the graphic novels section. Wow, they were selling a lot of Amanda Conner’s Harley Quinn collections. And with the Suicide Squad movie coming out, she could only see demand growing. She’d make a note to mention it to Brian, the guy who looked after the comics and manga section now.
Ah, Genevieve Valentine’s Catwoman was out in collected form! She’d really enjoyed Valentine’s run. Hey, didn’t someone mention to her that Valentine wrote SF too? She’d need to check it out.
Maybe she’d take this volume home for Melanie, who was a big Catwoman fan. What would happen if you got into a Venn machine and told it to make you Catwoman? Well, it wouldn’t turn you into Julie Newmar, for sure. Maybe it would give you a cat head and boobs.
Heh. Melanie would probably enjoy that.
***
“Sean would probably enjoy that.”
Melanie sipped her wine and nodded. “Agreed. My geek is quite adventurous. Did I ever tell you about the time I pegged him?”
“I’m not sure it’s pegging when it’s an actual penis, Mel.” Bella took a sip at her own wine glass. “And yes, you’ve told me. Several times, in fact.”
“Well, it’s a good story, isn’t it?” Melanie shifted; she’d forgotten how uncomfortable it was to squish your balls. “What about you?”
“What do I like to Venn the most?” Bella reflected. “Machines. A video camera is great.” She flashed back to being a camera, recording Anna and Kat’s last session.
“Really? I’ve done the mechanical thing. Being hair clippers is pretty cool. But yeah, I like the gender switching. I can’t wait until I can show Sean … this.”
“That’s right, he’s a she today, isn’t he? I mean, she.”
Melanie giggled. “I have trouble keeping track sometimes too. Hey, you’re going to Ava’s sister’s wedding, right? What kind of dress are you wearing?”
Bella considered. “Actually, I thought about wearing a tux.”
“Ooh! Nice idea!” Melanie’s eyes lit up. “Maybe when I get married you can be the best man.”
“You don’t mean that literally, do you? Oh fuck, you do.” Bella knocked back her wine.
“C’mon Bel, try the whole body, not just the one bit. Did I tell you I went to Sean’s Christmas party as her boyfriend?”
“Again, yes. Several times.”
“You’ve heard what several times?” Ava called. They heard the front door close.
“Melanie’s stories,” Bella said. “She was just getting to the one about Sean as a double dildo.”
“There you go, giving away all our secrets,” Ava said in mock exasperation.
“It is a good story, though.” Melanie spotted Ava’s shopping bags. “Oooh, Victoria’s Secret! You’re gonna model them for me, right?”
“Maybe.”
“I’ll show my appreciation.”
“Literally,” Bella said, rolling her eyes. “Look, I better get out of here. I want to be home when Anna gets home from class.”
“Okay, hon. See you later.” Ava air kissed her friend. Once she’d left, she turned to Melanie. “What did she mean, literally?”
“Well, I picked up something today.” Melanie indicated her jeans.
Her well-packed jeans.
Ava raised an eyebrow. “Oh. I see.”
“So, baby.” Melanie walked up to Ava and wrapped her arms around her. “Do you really? Want to see?”
“Should we wait for Sean?”
“Maybe we could just start with the girls? Or, the girl and the she-male?” Melanie kissed Ava lightly on the cheek. “I want to give you some cuddles. You know I love you, right, Ava?”
Ava felt something sizeable rubbing against her leg.
“I might need a glass of wine myself to deal with that,” she said. “And I warn you, Sean’s quite … petite today.”
“Oh, I’ll be gentle.”
Ava smiled. “Then let me model my new underwear for you. C’mon.”
***
It was total coincidence that Anna ran into Sean just outside the bookstore as they wended their way back to the apartment block.
“Wow, you’re short today,” Anna said. “Even shorter than me. And I’ve got used to be the shortest in our group.”
“Speaking of the group, we’re gonna be clothes this Saturday, right?” Sean linked arms with Anna. “We haven’t been dancing for a few weeks.”
“Hey, I do the dancing, you just look good on me!” Anna grinned. “Let me talk to Bella. I don’t think we’re doing anything, and yeah, club night sounds great. So what do you want to be?”
“Uh, how about panties? Or anything, really, except shoes.”
“Yeah, I’m sorry I used to make you always be the shoes. I didn’t know you as well as the others back then and it felt a little weird having you on my body. Oh!” Anna remembered something. “Next Thursday is Fetish Night. You feel up to being a catsuit?”
“Oh yeah.” Sean grinned. Being a tight shiny black catsuit would be just fine … “Although that does raise the question of what are you going to turn the others into.”
“I’ll think of something.”
“Well, you could always make Ava your earrings … oh wait, you’ve got the stretched ears.”
“Actually, I could make Bella my tunnels, and then make Ava big hoops and wear them in my tunnels.”
“I don’t know if that sounds amazingly erotic or amazingly revolting.”
“Idiot.” Anna swatted Sean. “Try Venning yourself some stretched lobes. They feel incredible.”
“Well, maybe, Here we are!” Sean gave Anna a hug as they strode up the stairs. “See you, hon.”
She heard the noises as soon as she walked in. She followed them to the bedroom.
“Jeez.” She rolled her eyes. “You guys on the wine again? Will you never learn?”
“Vacuum activity.” Ava, sitting on the edge of the bed in silk underwear, raised her glass. “Come fuck us, you little minx, and save us from turning into alcoholics.”
“Best offer I’ve had all day.” Sean walked in and kissed Ava affectionately. Then she walked to the other side of the bed and kissed Melanie, who was already naked and covered by the sheet. “Hey baby, I brought you a present.”
“I brought you one too,” Melanie giggled, throwing back the sheet.
Sean opened her eyes wide. “Ava, save me from this monstrous beast!”
“Monstrous beast?” Melanie’s hand went to it without even thinking. “You should see Bella’s.”
***
“Woah.” Anna stared at Bella’s crotch. “So this is what you do at home all day.”
Bella gave an embarrassed grin. “It was a silly spur of the moment thing that Mel and I did to ourselves.”
“Oh, don’t apologise for it, babe,” Anna said, eyeing the bulge in Anna’s pants. “I think we can make good use of it. Just the thing after a day at fashion school.”
“Oh, and there’s something extra …” Bella undid her pants.
She saw the ring and Anna’s smile split her face. “Love it. It’ll match my VCH.”
That’s when they heard the muffled sounds coming from downstairs.
“God, I think love is in the air.”
“If Melanie’s is like this, I totally get it.”
Bella began to unbutton her shirt as Anna shrugged off her dress. She climbed on top of Bella and began nuzzling her.
“Mmmm …” Bella murmured. “You smell good, baby. New perfume?”
“You could say that.”
Maybe she’d spray a bit of Flick on her wrists once she was fully naked.
