TF (imprinting, food)
Sophie groaned and rolled over on the sofa, rubbing her belly. Her swollen belly. My God, she thought, why did we order so much Chinese?
Louise, unbelievably, was still forking chow mein into her mouth. Not for the first time, Sophie wondered where her girlfriend put it all.
The coffee table was littered with cartons, most of them still containing food.
“Explain to me again,” Sophie said, “why we ordered five different dishes.”
“Because we couldn’t agree on what we wanted, remember?” Louise said. “You wanted the beef with black beans and I didn’t. I wanted the lemon chicken and you didn’t. We did both want the chow mein, and we both sorta wanted the fried rice, and neither of us wanted the chicken curry.”
“So why did we get it?”
“Because with one more dish we got free delivery.”
“I’m not sure it was worth it.” Sophie groaned as her stomach began to complain.
She got up. “If you want me, I’ll be in the bathroom. Would you mind cleaning up when you finish?”
*
Half an hour later, Sophie was much relieved. She wandered back into the living room.
The cartons still sat on the coffee table, and a pair of chopsticks lay across one of them. There was no sign of Louise.
That meant one of two things.
Then Sophie spotted the little bottle of imprinting potion on the table.
OK, that meant one of one things.
“Louise?” she called. “You in here?”
And suddenly one of the cartons - the chow mein - grew a face. Her girlfriend’s face, to be exact.
“Hey Soph!” she giggled. “Look at me! I’m Chinese food!”
“Really?” Sophie peered into the carton. “You thought that was a good idea?”
“Well, you always accuse me of playing with my food …”
Sophie picked up the carton. “Are you just the container or all the food?”
“Just the container, but now you mention it …”
And suddenly all the vegetables in the carton sported Louise faces.
“Hello! I’m broccoli!”
“And carrot!”
“And snow peas!”
“And, God help us, you’re leftover chicken,” Sophie said.
“Hey, I’ve been chicken before.”
“Don’t remind me,” Sophie said with a shudder.
“Why don’t you come and join me?” a mushroom said. “We could get really saucy …”
“Please, no more bad puns.” But, well, she could do with some imprinting fun. Particularly after that visit to the bathroom. Call it revenge …
“OK, wait there,” she said, immediately realising what a stupid thing to say it was.
“Oh, I’m not going anywhere!”
Sophie walked to the bedroom and retrieved another bottle of imprinting potion from her supply in her closet. Returning to the living room, she downed its contents. Immediately she felt the urge to merge, to pour her consciousness into another object.
“Move over, Lou, you’ve got company!” She reached a finger into the carton - this isn’t very hygienic, she thought - and vanished as she was sucked in.
Louise had retreated to become a big piece of broccoli. “Soph? Where did you go?” she called.
And Sophie’s face emerged, quite tiny. “I’m a noodle!” she said. Well, this was certainly different. She’d been various shapes and sizes before, but never quite this thin - or this long.
Louise began to giggle. “Ooh, look at you! You’re very thin - and coiled up, too!”
“Hey, don’t knock it until you try it.” Sophie had a friend, Lauren, who had used rubberising potions that allowed her to stretch her body out in all directions. Is this what it feels like? she wondered. She could feel her body, all the same all the way down, so very long, and then simply cut off, like her head.
As she watched, Louise slipped out of the broccoli. Her features appeared as a glutinous mass on a piece of sweetcorn.
“Now I’m sauce!” Louise said. “So weird to be halfway between a liquid and a solid. And I’m probably laden with MSG too.”
Sophie was touching the carton’s surface, so she slipped from the noodle to become the box. That was another kind of experience - she was flat now, something she always found very stimulating, but also bent up and attached. She could feel both her outside and her inside at the same time., one part of her resting on the table, the other filled with food.
“Sophie?” Louise called. “You there?”
“I’m on the outside! I’m the carton now!”
“Let me see!” And Louise was suddenly in the carton with her. Two inhabiting the same object could be done, but it was certainly not comfortable. Louise quickly fled into the chopsticks lying on the box.
“Ta-dah!” one of the chopsticks said.
“And now …” said the other.
“We’re twins!” they chorused.
“Two of them,” Sophie groaned. “Just my luck.”
“Aw, what’s wrong?”
“After all …”
“Two heads are better than one!”
“You don’t even have a head!” Sophie whined.
Suddenly tiring of the game, she left the carton and reappeared as herself. Louise had also moved on, becoming the lemon chicken.
“How tasty am I now!”
“To tell you the truth? Not very.”
Finally Louise popped up as one of the fortune cookies.
“Hey, Sophie! Over here! Crack me open!”
“And make you two again? No thanks.”
“Aw, go on! Read my fortune!”
“You will wind up annoying your girlfriend.”
“That’s my fortune?”
“No, that’s my prediction. And oh, what luck! It’s coming true!”
“Oh, you’re being such a grump. I know how to get you smiling.”
And Louise vanished.
“Louise? Where are you now?”
“In the books!”
On the coffee table was resting a pile of art books. And on top was a volume of tasteful nude photography.
And the cover model had changed to become Louise, her butt thrust at the reader.
“Look now! I’ve got …”
“Lou, if you’re about to say you’ve got a little behind in your reading, I will personally burn you.”
“Spoilsport.”
“Besides, technically that’s not a little behind you’ve got there.”
The book giggled. “I assure you I’m full of quality literature.”
“Full of something, sure.” But Sophie was smiling. “As it happens, I could do with some bedtime reading.”
And she picked up the book and made her way to the bedroom.
“Be sure to check out page 97,” the book advised her.
“Let me see … OK, now that’s a double page spread.”
And she studied her book very intently indeed.
