TF (goo, melting)

Emily had many talents, but it was generally acknowledged that cooking wasn't one. Her boyfriend Dan ruled the kitchen at their house.

Which is why when Emily asked Dan to take her to a kitchen supply place, he knew something was up. Especially when she told him she needed to do some shopping in privacy.

"You're plotting," he told her.

Emily giggled. "Maybe!"

"This wouldn't have anything to do with those goo serums that came in the mail recently, would it?"

"Definitely maybe!"

As it turned out, Dan had a perfectly pleasant afternoon picking up some new cookware. He didn't see his girlfriend until she turned up back at the car with a mysterious brown paper bag that she spirited away once they got home.

And he didn't think about it for a couple of weeks, until one Saturday afternoon Emily went into the bedroom, and came out dressed in her bathrobe, carrying the paper bag.

"Guess what this is, lover," she said with a kiss.

Dan opened the bag and stared at the object within - a plastic dome resembling a Bundt cake.

"It's a jelly mould," he said. "Mom had one when I was a kid."

"Ooh, we have a winner!" Emily laughed.

"Oh, what's my prize?"

"A front-row seat at the best show in town."

Dan looked at the mould, then at Emily as she held up a little vial. "Em, you're not going to ... I mean ... you really think you can ..."

"Uh-huh," Emily winked.

A grin spread over Dan's face. "Oh, this is going to be good."

"Of course," Emily said, handing him her video camera, "you're also going to be the cameraman."

"You're going to film this?"

"Trust me, Goo Labs is definitely going to want to see this."

As the film began, Emily gave a cheery wave, and then undid her bathrobe.

"Hey, folks at Goo Labs! It's your favourite guinea pig, Emily, here. I want to thank you again for sending me those experimental serums to test. I think I've come up with something that will blow your mind!"

She shrugged off her bathrobe and held up a vial containing a green liquid.

"OK, you sent me this one in that last batch. I wanna read the instructions that came with it: 'Allows the user to mentally control
the speed and consistency of the change. Use for melting effects.' I'm not sure why it didn't occur to you guys that it could be fun to use the other way, too!"'

Winking at the camera, she undid the stopper on the vial. "Dan? Could you pan down, please? Uh, not down there, further down ... boys! There's a bit of Benny Hill in all of them ...

"So you can see now I'm standing in a basin, for reasons that will become clear in a minute. OK, pan up again Dan ... Try not to linger on my boobs ... "

(Off camera) "Spoilsport!"

"Please, this is for science. OK, I drink the serum ... Urgh! That has a definite aniseed taste to it. I hate licorice ... And I can feel the
tingling begin! How do I look, Dan?"

"Pale. Very Goth ... OK, now you're going transparent."

"Ooh! I'm so wobbly! OK, so far so good. Now I'm going to concentrate on becoming as liquid as possible ..."

On the screen, the wobbly jelly girl began to lose form, breaking down into a fluid that filled the basin. There was a minute or two of
silence before a new narrator took over.

"Uh, it's Dan here. I was expecting Em to form a mouth and continue talking us through the process, but I guess she's too liquid to do so.
Anyway ...

"OK, here we have a jelly mould. Your classic mould, really. So I'm going to pick up this basin full of liquid Emily ... very carefully;
if I spill her I'll never hear the end of it ... and I'm pouring it into the mould.

"As you can see, the liquid is beginning to harden ... God, I sound like David Attenborough ..."

"Hey Dan!"

"Yeeargh! Don't do that!"

"Hey, don't forget, you're my cameraman."

The camera pulled back to show the bottom of the jelly mould, where Emily's face could be seen imprinted.

"Hey guys! I'm back! Miss me much? Alright, I'm concentrating on hardening my form. But not too much, because then I'll be stuck in
this mould. What I'm aiming for is a jelly-like consistency ...

"Dan, could you get a plate? Great. Next, very carefully ... VERY CAREFULLY ... tip the mould onto it."

"Oh God, Em, what if you split?"

"Eh, I'll just reform myself. It should be fine. I'm going to stop being a face down here for a second while Dan tips me out."

A pair of highly nervous hands entered the camera field, grabbing the jelly mould. Carefully, with one swift movement, it tipped the mould over. The mould was then withdrawn as, with an audible sucking sound,
the set jelly inside was revealed.

For a second the translucent jelly wobbled magnificently on the plate, its shape tall and tubular, before a pair of eyes and a mouth appeared on its side.

"Woah! Was that cool or what!" Emily's eye winked at the camera. "Hi, guys! I'm Emily the jelly! Serve me up at a party and watch the kids run for me! I bet I'd be great with ice-cream ... I'd be a trifle delicious!"

(From off camera) "Em, that joke doesn't even make sense."

"Quiet, or you won't get any jelly! So you see, my scientist pals, your humble beta tester has found a new use for one of your serums ... turning myself into a dessert! Hey, I really like being this shape. But I could be anything! I saw plenty of other jelly moulds. Teddy bears, castles ... even a human brain! I guess that one's for use after the zombie apocalypse.

"So, I think I'll just stay this way and wobble around for a while. I'll have to turn back eventually, because Dan will want some sweet Emily dessert ... and this time I'm not talking about jelly ...

"Ooh, you guys, I've got a great idea! Could you come up with some coloured dyes that I could use when I'm in goo form? I'd love to be
completely purple or pink! That would be so freaky! OK, Emily out!"

And the last image on the screen showed a jelly wobbling as it was
overcome with laughter.
