For years, it has been avoided by all but the most foolish or demanding travelers - but no more. A squadron of trained soldiers, accompanied by a renowned mercenary, is sent in to find and eliminate the threat.

The Old Wood - Part 2 Rossem kicked up his legs, resting them on a moaning mass. The moans were music to his ears; almost as pleasant as the sound of his forest. He took a handful of nuts and placed them in his mouth with dainty elegance. The succulent bounty of his forest was more than enough nourishment for his body.
His mind, however, had grown somewhat sybaritic in nearly three centuries. His tastes had become esoteric. The forest itself had reacted to his ego. It had grown darker, more colorful, more striking and beautiful.
The creatures within his old wood had also changed. Gone were the formless abstract spirits of the earth. He had created his own generation of kindred.
The elf’s footstool was moaning again. She had once upon a time been known as Bianca, and Rossem had not yet had deigned to give her new appellation. But he rarely referred to her as such; normally, he called her pet, or darling, or

The Old Wood Part 4 - Vixen It was good to stay challenged. When one had advanced to two hundred and seventy-eight years of age (or was it two hundred and seventy-seven?), keeping the mind sharp and entertained was of tantamount importance. Rossem’s people needn’t worry about the physical rigors of old age, but elven magic was worthless without a sharp-eyed and entertained mind to use it.
Rossem took things a few steps further. He didn’t keep his mind sharp with power-brokering or arcane research. He refused to submit to the expectations of the society around him. There would be no mysterious, wizened eldarin to give out quests to whiny young adventurers. Rossem Klyn kept his mind sharp through action.
Sometimes, that did mean that he would dive into the secrets of the arcane. But it was hardly appropriate to waste all of his considerable talents on theory. It was far more stimulating to practice his skills in the wild.
