My beloved wife Elizabeth was a blessing to me. And, she still is. What such a kind and beautiful woman saw in an awkward scientist like me, I do not know.
Nothing was more devastating to learn that she had developed inoperable and fatal cancer in the face and brain. We dearly wanted to start a family, but she would be taken from me before we had a chance.

As Elizabeth’s condition worsened, she asked to put a very strange request in her will, one directly relating to my work of preserving living tissue. I remember the night we decided to undergo the procedure vividly…

“Fredrick my dear, we can still start a family…”
“Elizabeth, you must be getting delirious… there’s nothing we can do…”
“Oh, but there is. The cancer is attacking my brain. From the neck down, I’m perfectly healthy…”
“Suggesting to amputate your own head is a sick joke, dear.”
She nodded. “I’m not joking. I’m going to die anyway, aren’t I? Why not keep at least a part of me alive? You have the means to do so.”

I was aghast. “But, you won’t be… you anymore. No thoughts, no soul, just a headless, empty shell! It’s no different than death! Your body would remain, but the person you are would be dead!”
She smiled. “Precisely my point. My time for this world is short regardless… you may not be able to save my mind, but my heart will love you for as long as it beats, my dear…”

Tears ran down my face. She wiped them away. “Don’t worry my dear… I may leave you in mind and soul, but my heart and body will still be there for you. I want to have children so badly… I may never know them, but I’d rather lose my head than lose my chance to be a mother.”

And so, I agreed to save her body at the cost of her head.

My dear wife is now famous in the scientific realm… and at sideshow attractions. An array of tubes connect to where her head once was, providing a steady supply of oxygen, nutrients and commands from an electronic brain allowing her to move.

I still find her beautiful, even though her face is gone. She is, in fact, probably as healthy as she’s ever been. Boy, does she ever have an amazing figure… She may not know who am I, or even who she is, but I can’t help but shake the feeling that somehow, her heart still loves me so. It’s the way she gently caresses my face and hugs me tightly at night.

That said, keeping her alive isn’t cheap, so we’re forced to attend sideshow attractions to keep the bills coming. People gasp and faint when I pull back the curtain and reveal her headless form, sitting in a chair with tubes running from her neck. And there’s plenty of wolf whistles, too. Especially on days when she wears a tight dress and a short skirt, showing off her fantastic legs and hourglass figure. Well, if she can’t have a head, at least her body makes up for it with curves in all the right places. Maybe a part of me likes to show off and I purposefully get her provocative clothing.

And she still manages to keep a good figure after having a few kids. And in case you’re wondering… yes, they were all conceived after her decapitation. And she is quite skilled in some regards. When you can’t see, hear, smell or taste, you have to take pleasure in something. A lot of fellas at the shows are disappointed when they learn she’s already taken.
