Part 7 is the final installment. Bryana has three more surrogate pregnancies, and then at age 40, ages out of surrogacy eligibility and retires. But they’re not letting her off that easy. The surrogacy agency has one final surprise for Bryana.

Part 7 consists of one chapter:

The home stretch and across the finish line

The home stretch and across the finish line

Long before Bryana started thinking about her next pregnancy, Alyssa and Cody informed her that they were done adding more children to their family. They now had a total of twelve children; three 9 year olds, five 5 year olds, and the four infants. Alyssa and Bryana were almost 35 years old.

Bryana knew that after age 40 she would age out of being a surrogate mother. She did the math and realized if she kept the time between pregnancies to her normal 12 months, she still had time for three more surrogate pregnancies. She let the surrogate agency know she’d be available for her next embryo implantation once the quads celebrated their first birthday, as well as two more times after that. By now she was a rock star among surrogate mothers, and there was quickly a long list of intended parents who wanted her to carry their babies as soon as she was able. She could have her pick. Quite a few intended parents also wanted to be considered for one of the subsequent implantations. It was well-known that last time Bryana had chosen the intended parents who wanted four embryos implanted over everyone who wanted fewer than that, and as a result, there were quite a few parents this time willing to have quads, even knowing that none of the previous embryos implanted in Bryana had failed to “take”. But Bryana told the agency that she was open to having more than four embryos implanted this time. After all, she had already successfully carried quintuplets during two of her pregnancies.

This time, however, Bryana chose a white family who wanted three embryos implanted and a black family who wanted two. It was fun to be unpredictable and keep everyone guessing. Nine months after the implantations, Bryana delivered five healthy, full-term babies for the two families.

The process repeated itself two more times. While she would have liked to have had the experience of carrying sextuplets, the surrogacy agency refused to implant six embryos, saying it was too risky, and none of her final pregnancies had an embryo divide and produce identical twins. For the next pregnancy she chose five families of different races all wanting single babies, and for her final pregnancy she chose two families wanting twins and one wanting a single.

By the time she retired, Bryana had, in the course of 16 years and nine pregnancies, delivered an amazing 40 babies, 12 of her own and 28 as a surrogate, and all of them full term and completely healthy. Every embryo implanted had successfully attached to her womb. She was Super Mom. She was the Baby Factory. She was the Fertility Goddess. She was the G.O.A.T. of Surrogates. And she left at the top of her game.

While Bryana was recovering from the final pregnancy, Cody asked her how she was holding up emotionally. Without his actually saying so, they both knew he was alluding to the reality that she would probably never be pregnant again. Surprisingly okay, she said. It began to dawn on me about five years ago, after the quads were born, that I couldn’t keep doing this forever, and that I was in the home stretch. I resolved to make the most of these last three surrogacies, and I’ve had all this time to mentally prepare for this day. Now it’s here, and I’m okay. Pregnant Bryana had a great run, and I’ll always treasure the memories of every pregnancy, every baby, every family I helped. When I got pregnant the first time, never in a million years would I have guessed that I would give birth to 40 babies. Forty! Do you realize what a crazy big number that is? And all 40 of them are alive and well. I can be proud of what I’ve done. So I’m not going to mope about my womb now being empty. It, and I, are going to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.

So that chapter of my life is over, and a new one has begun. I'm still Limbless Bryana and I always will be. So I’m just going to focus on experiencing being limbless without being pregnant or trying to get pregnant or planning to become pregnant, and enjoying that as much as I can. But who knows what the future holds? We may even have the next fertility goddess living in our midst. I’m talking about Jazmyn. Who knows if she’s a super-ovulator, but she otherwise reminds me very much of myself and my lifelong obsession with being pregnant. We just have to make sure she doesn’t actually do it anytime soon.

A few months later, the head of the surrogacy agency, a woman named Elaine, called Bryana. They exchanged pleasantries, and Elaine asked about Bryana’s health and well-being as well as that of her family. Then she got to the reason for her call. The association of surrogacy agencies would be holding their annual convention in about four months, and this year it was going to be held locally. She asked Bryana if she would consider being a guest speaker at the convention, and talk about her experiences as a six-time surrogate mother. Of course, Bryana was completely unprepared for such a request. She had spent the last 16 years actively avoiding calling attention to herself, and now she was being asked to be a featured speaker in a convention hall full of people. Bryana replied that she didn’t think she could do it. But Elaine pointed out that she had four months to prepare for it, and asked her to please at least consider the request before rejecting it out of hand. Bryana agreed to think it over and discuss it with Cody before giving her answer.

Cody pointed out that while they did try to keep a low profile to the general public, Bryana was already a rock star in the surrogate community. She was such an amazing surrogate mother that no one cared about her amputations; those just kind of added to her mystique. So there was no reason to hide. Still, Bryana hadn’t done any public speaking since making presentations in some of her college classes, and those were nothing to be proud of. Again, Cody tried to encourage her. The difference is, you’ll be speaking about your own personal experiences on a topic you’re passionate about to an audience eager to hear you. Plus, you’ve had twenty years to mature since then. You could probably stand up and… well, not literally… and give a great speech off the top of your head. With four months of time to organize your thoughts and rehearse, you’ll knock it out of the park, I’m sure. Bryana still wasn’t comfortable with the idea, but Cody was right. She called the surrogate agency back and told Elaine she’d do it.

In reality, the request to give a speech was really a pretext to get her to the convention so they could present her with an award. Elaine, the agency lady, had called Cody ahead of calling Bryana to give him a heads up, so he was in on the secret when he tried to encourage Bryana to agree to make the speech.

With Cody’s encouragement and help, Bryana worked on drafting her speech and rehearsed it enough times that she could almost recite it from memory. As the day approached, Bryana was feeling pretty good about it but was still understandably nervous. Cody accompanied her to the convention to hear her give her speech. But unbeknownst to Bryana, her sister Alyssa, their parents, their three oldest children, her longtime caretaker Nicole, and her OB/GYN Dr. Hopkins also came separately and were seated in the audience.

Elaine took the podium to introduce Bryana to the assembled surrogate agency professionals. Good afternoon, everyone, she said. I’m Elaine Ericson, director of the New Beginnings Surrogacy Center here in Springfield. It is my great privilege to introduce our next speaker, an amazing woman who needs no introduction, because if you don’t already know about her you’ve been living under a rock. But here today, in the flesh, is none other than legendary surrogate mother Bryana Farris! The audience applauded as Bryana came across the stage to the podium in her motorized wheelchair. Cody watched from offstage.

Elaine bent down and gave Bryana a hug as she approached center stage. The podium was too high for Bryana to be seen behind, so she wheeled to a position in front of it. She already had a microphone clipped onto her blouse. Bryana said, Thank you, Elaine. Thank you, surrogacy professionals, for that warm welcome. Then Bryana noticed her family seated in the audience, beaming at her. She momentarily lost her concentration, surprised to see them. Then she continued. Most of the women you deal with have longed to have a baby for many years, if not their entire lives, and have tried everything to have one naturally. Many probably tell you they’re desperate. My story is quite different, but it started out the same. I longed to be pregnant ever since I was a child and learned what pregnancy was. I could think of nothing more fulfilling. I imagined having one pregnancy after another, back to back. However, I chose to wait until I married the love of my life Cody just before my 25th birthday, but then wasted no time in trying to conceive.

That’s where my story deviates.I immediately became pregnant with triplets, and carried them to full term. I see them here today, seated up front. Stand up, you three, and wave to the audience. They did, and the audience applauded. My sister Alyssa along with my husband Cody have done all the work in raising them, because, well, I’m not able to do much besides making babies. The audience laughed politely. Bryana continued. I discovered I loved being pregnant even more than I thought I would. I couldn’t wait to be pregnant again, but it would have been too much to add another child to our family right away after having three at once. That’s when I applied to be a surrogate mother.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but it turns out that I’m what’s called a super-ovulator. In my three natural pregnancies, each time there were three or four eggs fertilized. Quite the opposite from most of your clients, I know. But it was only because I’d already successfully had triplets that I agreed to be matched to intended parents who wanted to implant four embryos, and probably only for that reason that they chose me as their surrogate despite my physical disability. And it was only because of my rather extreme disability that I could have six surrogate pregnancies in addition to three natural ones. You see, if I were able-bodied, I would’ve been so busy chasing after triplets that I couldn’t possibly have considered becoming pregnant again right away, either naturally or as a surrogate. But because of my disability, my sister was the one chasing those triplets, and so there was nothing stopping me from being a surrogate. The stars just lined up perfectly for me to have lots of pregnancies and lots of babies in each pregnancy.

Bryana continued giving the rest of her speech, and the audience applauded. Thank you very much, Bryana said, as she prepared to turn and leave the stage. Before she could, though, the president of the association came on stage and asked her to stay.

Bryana, she said, we have something we want to give you before you leave. Ladies and gentlemen, this is unprecedented for our association, but I can think of no one more deserving. As she mentioned, Bryana had six surrogate pregnancies before she recently aged out. If you weren’t keeping count, those pregnancies resulted in an amazing 28 healthy, full-term babies brought into the world and placed with their intended parents. I don’t know of any surrogate mother in history, anywhere, who’s had even half that many. Every single embryo implanted in her womb successfully attached to her uterus. But it keeps getting better. She carried four or five fetuses in each of her surrogate pregnancies, but she never delivered before the 39th week and none of those babies’ birth weights were under 7 pounds. That is absolutely unheard of for any quadruple or quintuple pregnancy. In addition, Bryana’s three natural pregnancies gave her and her family a total of 12 children. To look at her, you’d probably think she hasn’t had any children, but this one amazing woman has given birth to a grand total of 40 babies. Forty! It boggles the mind! The audience erupted into very enthusiastic applause.

The association president looked up at Cody standing offstage. Cody, please come over and stand with your wife, she said. When he got there, she continued. And so, Bryana, on behalf of the National Association of Surrogacy Agencies, I couldn’t be more pleased to announce that you are the recipient of our first and so far only Surrogate Mother Lifetime Achievement Award! The audience rose to their feet and gave a thunderous ovation. Someone brought out a bouquet and gave it to the president, who placed it in front of Bryana on her chair, where her lap would be if she had one. Someone else brought out a large plaque, which the president showed to Bryana and read aloud to the audience and then handed to Cody.

Then the president continued. If we were a sports team, we would retire your jersey and hang it in the rafters. We’re not, though, but we wanted to do it anyway. Someone came out carrying a large picture frame turned away from the audience, and handed it to the president. The president turned it around so everyone could see it. Inside the frame was a women’s basketball jersey, half pink and half baby blue, with the number 28 and the name Bryana across the top. The audience laughed and applauded. When they quieted down, the president continued. We actually had three of these made. This one is for you to take home. We have another one for you that you can wear. The third will be displayed prominently in our association headquarters. Bryana then spoke, trying to hold back tears. This is such a surprise! Thank you so much! I’m so honored! Thank you! The president also handed the framed jersey to Cody, and they headed offstage as the audience rose for a second standing ovation.

THE END

Author's note:

I've now written two sequels to this story that pick up a few years later and features Bryana's eldest daughter Jazmyn along with many other returning characters. Think of these as Limbless and Pregnant, The Next Generation.  However, limblessness and pregnancy are only minor topics in the the next story, Deeply Submissive. Instead, as its title implies, it has a heavy BDSM emphasis, especially focusing on domination and submission, subspace, and bondage.  But, it does set the stage for the third story in the series, Truncated yet Tenacious, that again features missing limbs and lots of pregnancies.
