Subj: That Note

I got your note. I'm not sure I should send this or not. If you use this to figure out who I am I'll make your life hell. What do you want?

I swear I won't out you to anyone. I just need some help designing an app. I think Ted's mad at us and I want to get in his good graces. If he had an App for his doll rentals, it would be less work for him matching clients to dolls. I have several privacy ideas I want to run past you. I figure you'd want to guard your identity so you would be best to point out any flaws in my plans.

For example, if you have the Ted's Dolls app on your phone, someone might accuse you of being one of the dolls. So to access the “become a doll” part of the app, there would be an extra pin. If the pin isn't entered, only the “rent a doll” part of the app is visible.

I can send you the user guide I'm working on for the app so you can critique it. But only if you are willing. I don't want to bother you if you want nothing to do with this.

I don't know anything about making apps. I heard you guys talking about it when I was there Friday and I didn't have a clue what you were talking about. I don't think I'm a great fit for this.

You heard that? Oh, that's nothing like what I was planning to send you. The user's guide would just show you the flow of the screens. It isn't technical at all. I've attached the user's guide. Read it or don't. But I would appreciate it if you could comment on it.

Okay. This could actually be useful. I'm not going to help you sell it to Ted though. You would also need a permissions setting for modifications. Ted can modify the looks of the dolls. Some people don't turn into anonymous dolls when they are dollified.

So how do you get a pin? The guide doesn't say. That is still a privacy concern.

They can be modified? I had no idea. Cool. I wasn't going to ask you to talk to Ted. At least not until after I had spoken to him. If he asks you about it, I hope you'll tell him you thought it could actually be useful. :)

The server part of the program would run on a server only Ted has access to. When someone wanted to be one his dolls, they would go to him to get a pin that he would assign to their copy of the app. The potential doll enters a request as usual. But when it asks for a pin to confirm, instead of the pin normally associated with the app, you enter the doll pin Ted gave you and it takes you into the “become a doll” portion of the app. So people cannot try to become a doll unless Ted permits it. If the phone screen turns off. When it comes back on, the app returns to the “rent a doll” interface until the secret pin is re-entered.

Yes, they can be modified. Maybe you should become a doll before showing your app to Ted.
