James sat back on the sofa, tears in his eyes.

He felt so left out…

His sister was having so much fun, with her friends! Girl’s nights out, girl’s nights in…

His so-called friends, on the other hand, were never around. He didn’t realise it, but it was because of how effeminate he was…

It all got too much for him, and he just curled into a ball, crying.

At that moment, Gillian came back in from one of her nights out and found him there.

“Jamie! What’s wrong, kid?”, she asked.

“I’m not a kid! I’m only a year younger than you”, James replied, miserably.

“Anyway, what’s up?”

“I feel so alone…”, said James, plaintively, sniffling.

Gillian didn’t know what to do. Part of her felt that she should tell James to ‘grow a pair’ and pull himself together, but she felt that would push him away. Then she had another idea…

“Why don’t you come out with us?”, she said.

“What, me on a girl’s night out?”, James said, stunned. “I don’t know if you’ve looked lately, but I’m not exactly the right sex for that.”

“You could be…”, Gillian said…

As Gillian had hoped, James was receptive to the idea and wanted to know more.

“I’ll be honest”, Gillian said, “I know that you’ve been in my underwear drawer. How do you fancy being a gurl?”

“Well… I don’t know…”, said James, uncertainly.

Gillian just held out her hand…

James let Gillian take him to her room.

“You like my underwear”, she said. “Let’s see what these clothes look like on you, shall we…?”

James tried to protest, but Gillian could tell he really didn’t mean it. She could see the way he looked at the clothes she had laid out on the bed.

“Well, turn your back, at least!”, James said, petulantly. With a giggle, Gillian turned away…

A minute or so passed.

“Ready, at least as far as clothing goes. However, I think I still look like a boy…”

“Oh, I’m sure we can do something about that. Grab that box off of the shelf and put on the contents, then I’ll do your makeup…”

Intrigued, James took the box down and opened it. Then, he started to chuckle…

The brunette pageboy wig was the perfect style for him…

Gillian motioned to the dressing table.

“Let’s finish getting you ready, shall we…?”

Gillian took her time with James’s makeup; she could see the ‘change’ meant that much to him. James stayed motionless throughout, not squirming at all, even when she plucked his eyebrows.

“You really want this, don’t you?”, she said, quietly.

“I’ve always wanted to belong…”, he said. “Trouble was, I belong with you girls, not guys. I think I always have…”

Suddenly, there was a sound from downstairs.

“I’m back!”

“Shit!”, said Gillian. “It’s mum! She’s home early.”

To her amazement, James just smiled.

“I don’t care”, he said. “I’m fed up with hiding this anymore. Let her meet ‘Jamie’.”

Gillian was aghast.

“Are you sure? You can’t take this back once you’ve done it”, she said.

“Are you with me?”, Jamie asked.

“Always.”, Gillian replied.

As their mother came into the room, they both turned round to greet her…

Neither was ready for their mother’s reaction.

“Hello, Jamie. It’s about time you came to visit. Are you here to stay, or just passing through?”

Gillian and Jamie’s mouths both nearly hit the floor.

“How long have you known?”, said Jamie, quietly.

“A while, now”, his mother said. “I must say, it really suits you. I’ve never seen you so confident, or comfortable with yourself. You’re gorgeous, too…”

Jamie blushed. Being called gorgeous by his mother was something he never expected to happen, in a million years…

Gillian hugged him.

“We were just going for a girls night out”, she said.

“Go on, then! I’m not stopping you. Just make sure you use protection.”

“Mum…!”

Gillian had an amazing time, both on her own and with her new ‘sister’, Jamie.

Jamie had two guys ask her for her number.

“Not tonight”, she said. “Gurls just wanna have fun…!”
