As you can gather from the title, this one is a bit dark. Don't read if breath play and the consequences of it done incorrectly upset you.

Jennie was walking home from work, when she heard a commotion from outside a workshop.

A woman was cursing loudly.

“Damn fabric! I can’t do a flaming thing with it! I wish I’d never bought it!”

There was a thud of a bin lid, then silence. Whatever the fabric was, she must have thrown it out…!

Jennie was, unfortunately, the curious type. It had got her into trouble more than once, but she really couldn’t stop herself. She wandered into the alley alongside the workshop.

The first bins were just everyday rubbish; black bags, some rather smelly. On the third one, near the back, she hit paydirt…

The semi-transparent, holographic effect bundle of material was just sitting there. It was beautiful. The person throwing it out had said that she couldn’t do anything with it. That wasn’t strictly true, in Jennie’s eyes…

She fished it out and unrolled it. An amazing ballgown met her gaze. It even looked like it was in her size…

Making sure no-one was watching, she bundled it up and stuffed it into her bag, then sneaked off…

Getting back home, she quickly took the gown out of her bag and spread it out on the bed.

She couldn’t believe how see-through it was, yet it was so strong at the same time; she couldn’t work out what it was made of. She also loved the attached bonnet; the whole outfit looked almost Edwardian in nature.

It was almost in her size; it was just a little tight, however. She had to strip off completely to get it on.

Once wearing the whole outfit, she did a twirl in front of the mirror. It was as she did this that she realised that it was getting harder to breathe…

She’d completely overlooked how the bonnet was attached to the gown. She’d thought it was hooked on like a hood, she hadn’t realised there was a visor in front as well. With that, and the side panels, the bonnet was more like the top of a helmet.

Also, because the dress was so tight, it had completely sealed itself to her body. There was nowhere for the air to get in…

Pawing at the visor, frantically trying to get the dress off, Jennie slumped to her knees, gasping, and her vision started turning black…

“You crazy bitch, you had to try it on”, came a voice from behind her. “I threw it out for a reason.”

The woman’s hand appeared in front of her face. It was holding a very sharp knife. Jennie screamed…

Suddenly, she could breathe again. The woman had punched a tiny hole in the visor, just over her mouth.

“There you go”, she said. “At least you can drink now and get drink and liquid food through a straw. That’s all I can do, though. The material is so strong, it won’t split any further. Sorry, but you’re trapped in it for life. That’s what you get for dumpster diving…”

Jennie tried to speak. Her voice was very muffled, as she could only just open her mouth, as the hood of the dress was holding it almost shut.

“Get me out of this! Please! I’m sorry!”

“I told you, I can’t”, the woman replied. “The dress is permanent. Have fun.”

To Jennie’s astonishment, the woman just left. She tried to stop her, but the gloves built into the dress wouldn’t let her grip anything, and her hands slid off of the other woman. Jennie whimpered and cried; pleading with her as she went out of her flat and shut the door behind her.

Jennie just looked in the mirror and sobbed.

The dress was indeed beautiful; it was also a life sentence.

Jennie looked sadly at her lunch, which she could now never eat.

She found a straw, made herself a drink and made sure that she could drink it. She nearly dropped the glass because of her slippery hands; some rubber gloves from the kitchen drawer soon sorted that problem.

Now, how to get help…

She couldn’t use a mobile phone; her hands wouldn’t operate one. She couldn’t use her work laptop, as it used fingerprint ID, but her home one let her in. Luckily, it was linked to her phone…

A quick message to her friend, Sylvia, brought her rushing over. After an hour of trying things, the pair had to admit defeat.

“Sorry, love, it’s no good”, Sylvia said. “The other woman was right. This stuff is indestructible.”

Jennie, distraught, told Sylvia to go get some rest, as they were both tired.

Sylvia tried contacting Jennie the next day. No answer.

After not hearing from her for another day, she called the police.

Breaking in, they found the body lying on the bed.

Jennie had been unable to take being sealed in the dress any longer. She had grabbed some thick tape and sealed it over the breathing hole. Her sightless eyes stared up at the ceiling…

The dress had claimed its victim. It had just taken a little longer…
