Rebecca was ‘tutoring’ Jamie about what it meant to be a woman.

While they were talking, there came a knock at the door…

“Get in the bedroom!”, Rebecca hissed. She was being very protective of her younger ‘sister’, as Jamie now was.

Jamie pushed the door closed but didn’t shut it. He wanted to hear what was going on…

Rebecca stomped over to the door and opened it.

“Hi, I’m Ruth. I’m supposed to have been working with Jamie, and I’m looking for her”, the woman said. “Please tell me you know where she is…!”

“No idea”, said Rebecca.

To her amazement, Ruth started crying.

“This was my last hope!”, she said. “I’ve tried the hospital, asked at the police station, everything. The boss will kill me if I go back without her!”

Rebecca was stunned. The woman was terrified. Who was this boss, to cause such fear…?

“She’s been on a rampage, ever since Jamie quit”, Ruth said. “No-one has ever said no to her before. She’s almost insane with rage. We’re all scared for our jobs, even our lives. She had a meltdown like this once before; she fired the entire division and hired new, and I can’t afford to lose this job…”. Her voice trailed off…

Before she could stop herself, Jamie came out of the bedroom and hugged Ruth.

“You don’t need to be afraid of her”, she said. “That’s what she’s relying on.”

Ruth looked at Jamie, tears in her eyes. “Please come back with me. Please!”

“I can’t”, said Jamie. “I’d never be free again. Besides, look at what that bitch has had done to me.”

“I can’t see anything wrong”, said Ruth. “All I can see is a very attractive woman. I think that’s why she really wants you back. She fancies you. I’d fancy you, and I’ve only just met you.”

“I was a man!”, Jamie yelled, furiously. “She’s taken that away from me!” It was Jamie’s turn to start crying.

“I never knew…”, said Ruth, aghast…

Suddenly, the door flew open again.

Abigail, the boss, was standing there.

“Damn it, Ruth, you weren’t supposed to tell her!”, she cried. “Jamie, I wanted it to be me that said.”

“I want you! I need you! You’re the best person for the job, bar none! And… I need you, too…!”

To Ruth’s absolute amazement, Abigail got on to her knees.

“I’m begging you. Come back with us, please! I’m lost without you! I’m sorry for converting you without your consent!”

Jamie was amazed, shocked, surprised. He’d never seen this side of the boss before. She’d never begged, as far as he had heard.

“Damn it, I love you!”, Abigail wailed. “I always have, ever since you came for your first interview!”

Jamie, not knowing what to do, now, just hugged her as she cried…

“Okay, I’ll come back”, she said, going back into the bedroom.

“Are you sure?”, said Rebecca, going in after him.

“I am now. If nothing else, I can’t let Ruth, and the others, lose their jobs. I’d never forgive myself.”

Jamie got changed back into her ‘work outfit’.

Ruth squealed with delight as she came back out…

Compared to the turmoil at the flat, Jamie’s return to work was fairly uneventful. People came up and patted Ruth on the back, convinced that she had made Jamie come back in.

“It wasn’t me”, she said. “The boss convinced her…”

She refused to be drawn any further on the subject, not wanting to ruin the bosses reputation as a ‘hard ass’…

Jamie settled back behind her desk.

From then on, everything went smoothly.

Jamie got the rest of the training that she had unknowingly walked out on, including some very constructional training on being a woman, as well as being told about all the ‘extra benefits’ that the job came with…

Abigail had a new-found respect for Jamie. It had been ‘his’ standing up to her that first day that showed her what a right bitch she really was, and how abominably she had been treating everyone else. She had been pushing everyone to find Jamie, as well because she realised how much she needed her in her life. Ruth had realised that; she had been genuinely scared about what would have happened if Jamie hadn’t come back.

Jamie being made head of department was the ultimate reward for her. Ruth was really happy; it meant everyone reported to Jamie, not Abigail, and they all owed Jamie everything for helping them keep their jobs, so the department ran really well from then on. This reflected well on Abigail, as well; she showed Jamie how well at their new flat, later…
