Leslie had had his lunch at his favourite café, as usual.

As he went out to the toilets before leaving, he sees a uniform slowly swinging on a hangar.

Thinking that the hot girl on duty earlier had just left, he thought it was her uniform. It was definitely for a woman, as it was a dress, in buff and orange, with a tie round the waist for an apron.

Making sure nobody was looking, he took it off of the hangar, and put it in his bag out of sight.

At least he thought he did, but he didn't realise that he left one of the straps sticking out of his bag, and the ‘hot girl’ that ran the café, (actually the boss, Katherine), saw it.

As Leslie walked out, she smiled…

Leslie got back to his home and, with a quick “Hi” to his mum, Sylvia, shot up to his room, as usual.

He locked the door and sat on his bed, taking the uniform out of his bag and looking at it. Then he saw the nametag: ‘Lesley’.

“Strange”, he thought. “I could have sworn her name was Kate…”

The uniform felt warm and comforting in his hands, and he dropped off to sleep on the bed still hugging it…

Later, there was a knocking at the door.

“Lesley”, Sylvia called. “Your boss has just rung. She’s ‘short staffed’ at the café because they’ve got a rush on. Do you fancy an extra shift?”

“Mmm… what?”, Leslie said. “Mum, I don’t work. I’m a fulltime college student.”

“Since when?”, called back Sylvia. “Stop mucking about, you’ve worked at the café for ages, now. It helps pay your college fees. If she needs you in, I should go. She’s saying you took your uniform home with you, so get it on and get going!”

Leslie, still dazed, just laid there, in shock.

“I’m coming in”, said Sylvia. “I hope you’re half decent.”

Now awake, Leslie frantically looked for somewhere to hide the uniform. Then he looked down at himself…

“Oh shit!”

He was now definitely she, still wearing the clothes that ‘he’ had come home in, which now fitted really badly.

Leslie was now Lesley, parttime college student and barista.

At this point, ‘her’ mum entered the room.

“What the hell are you wearing?”, she said. “Have you been larking about with that boyfriend of yours again? That looks like his T-shirt and jeans. They’re not very flattering, love, and don’t suit you at all. Anyway, you’ve got your uniform, so get changed and get to work…”

“But… but…”, said Lesley, still thoroughly confused.

At this point, Sylvia could see something was wrong, and she sat down next to Lesley.

“What’s up…? Oh god, you aren’t on something, are you?”

“I might as well be…”, said Lesley, still dazed. “When I went to the café earlier, it wasn’t as staff, but as a customer. Also, I was a boy… your son…”

At that point, everything got too much, and Lesley started crying.

Sylvia just hugged him tightly until the tears went away.

After Lesley had calmed down, Sylvia phoned the café back to say he couldn’t come in that day, as he wasn’t well.

The owner thanked her for calling and asked if it was ok to drop by later, just to see how she was getting on.

“I feel close to all my girls”, she said, “if there’s anything I can do to help let me know.”

Sylvia thanked her, hung up, and went back up to Lesley.

By then, Lesley was asleep again, tucked up in bed. The ‘boys clothes’ that she had been wearing were lying in a heap on the floor.

Lesley had been looking for some nightclothes, but everything was for a girl. In the end, she settled for some manly looking knickers and a T-shirt.

Sylvia could tell by what Lesley was wearing something was wrong; she hadn’t got out her favourite nightdress, and she was looking very unkempt compared to usual…

She just sat on the edge of the bed, looking at her…

Later that day, Katherine, the café owner, turned up.

“Hi, how’s Lesley?”, she said.

“Asleep at the moment”, said Sylvia. “She seems really confused, for some reason.”

“What do you mean?”, asked Katherine.

“I think her boyfriend might have slipped her something”, Sylvia said. “She came home wearing his clothes, and said something about her being a boy…”

“Do you mind if I go up and sit with her?”, Katherine asked.

For some reason Sylvia didn’t, so Katherine went up and sat on the end of Lesley’s bed.

She then started talking to Lesley, in a quiet but penetrating voice.

“I’ve given you what you wanted; I knew what it was as soon as I saw you walk out with that uniform in your bag, but I’ve had my suspicions for some time. Give it time, your body and mind will soon settle down, Lesley. Come back to me when you’re ready…”

With that, she got up, thanked Sylvia for letting her visit, and left.

The following week, Lesley was back working at the café. All doubts were gone, she was the happy, bubbly girl that everyone seemed to know and there were no further incidents with male urges and clothing.

Her boyfriend had seemed to vanish ever since that night. Which was a good thing, because she and Katherine were now an ‘item’…
