The next problem for Shan was a little more complicated…

One of Shan’s friends, a working mother, was almost crying on the phone to her.

“She’s so disobedient, the little bitch! She won’t study, she’s told me to ‘f’ off and mind my own business’ on more than one occasion, All she want’s to do is dress in those horrible clothes and play loud music. I’m at my wit’s end!”

“Send me all the information about her, what she should be doing, and what you want her to be like”, Shan said. “Be Realistic. If it’s too far away from what she is now, it might not ‘stick’ without completely reprogramming her.”

“I just want her to be normal again, like she was”, the woman cried. “If only she hadn’t met that boy…”

“Ah…”, said Shan, having an idea. “Bryony is a bit of a tomboy, isn’t she? Even when she cared about her appearance. Let’s boost that, but in such a way as she likes girls instead of boys…”

“That’s how she used to be!”, exclaimed the woman. “This new ‘boyfriend’ thought he was doing her a favour making her ‘straight’.”

“We can’t leave her like that, can we”, said Shan. “Let me know more about the boyfriend, as well…”

Soon, Samoto had two new residents, Bryony and her boyfriend, Carl Smart. Carl was an orphan, and growing up through the foster system had, unfortunately, not taught him anything of respect and how to ‘properly behave’, and that had heavily rubbed off on Bryony.

Bryony’s programming was relatively easy; just erasing all of the bad habits that Carl had taught her. Carl’s treatments, however, were a little more involved…

A week later, Carl was now Carla, a prime example of the female of the species. She was also programmed to still love Bryony (which wasn’t difficult).

Bryony now realised she had everything she really wanted in one package and gave up on boys completely. She tidied up her act and now looked like royalty in her dresses, her makeup impeccable and her manners polite and refined. She also taught Carla everything about makeup and appearance.

As an experiment, both Bryony and Carla were allowed out. As it was raining, they were both wearing matching pink edged transparent runway raincoats. Bryony had her yellow summer dress on, and Carla’s was in green.

They both walked into town and decided to get tea at the local café.

As they settled in, some of Carl’s old friends came in, having spotted Bryony.

“Hi, bitch”, one of them said. “Seen the boss lately? That outfit’s a bit tame for you, isn’t it?”

Carla slowly got to her feet, thunder in her eyes.

“Show some respect, Max”, she said, shocking him by using his name. “That’s my girl you’re hassling…”

“What business is it of yours…?”, Max said. Then he looked closer.

“Carl? What the fuck are you wearing?”

Max then gave Carla a good look over and realised that ‘she’ had breasts.

“What the hell…?”

He reached over and before anyone could stop him, he pulled Carla’s dress open.

“Shit, they’re real! They can’t be. You’re a bloke…!”

“I think you need to check your eyesight”, Carla said, doing her dress back up.

By then, someone else in the café had called for the manager.

“I’ve called the police”, he said, coming out from behind the counter with a very angry expression on his face. “Either you leave now, or things will get very ugly…”

Sullenly, Max and the others left.

The manager walked up to the girls.

“Hi, Bryony, like the outfit. Nice to see you in here being respectful, for a change. Who’s your friend?”

“This is Carla, my girlfriend”, Bryony said. “Funny story, really. My ex-boyfriend Carl had a twin sister, and I found I fancied her a lot more than him…”

“She’s a good influence on you”, said the manager. “She’s also got guts and prepared to stand up for you. She’s what my friend would have called a ‘keeper’…”

“I know”, said Bryony. She then reached in the pocket of her coat and brought out a small box.

“Carla Smart”, she said, getting down on one knee, “will you marry me?”

“Yes, yes, yes!”, said Carla, hugging her, as the customers in the café cheered and applauded…
