“Hey Ruby! Wanna join in?”

I hear my friend Lynn calling from the table. She’s the tallest one there, and her dirty blonde hair sticks out from the brown and black around her. Specifically, the brunette is Laura, who’s friends with Lynn, and the other one’s Tracey, the shortest and youngest one there. She’s also friends with Lynn, who’s kind of the popular girl and is the one hosting this party we’re at. I can see the cards from here. They’re the same cards I’d used just a few nights ago and haven’t touched since. Usually, I’d tell her I’m good, but I already know what to expect, so I guess I don’t have an excuse. I walk over to the table and have a seat next to a somewhat nervous Tracey.

“Oh, you’re actually joining in this time Ruby?” Laura says somewhat snarkily, though I can’t blame her. “Yeah, she apparently played with her own deck the other day, and now she gets it!” Lynn responds. I’d told her about this a day or two after the fact, so I should’ve seen this coming. “So... what exactly is this, anyways?” Tracey asks pointing at the deck, a generous stack of white cards with the word “Madjic” printed on the backs in bold lettering. “Well, I’ll demonstrate. Lemme set it up first...” Lynn places the control card on the stack and taps the green button, which lights up for a second before giving a quick flash. “So basically,” Lynn sets the control card beside the deck, “you draw a card and whatever it says happens to you.” She draws a card and reads it out loud.

“Lose an arm.”

She set the card in front of her and looked at her right hand, which was shaking slightly as the fingers receded into nothingness, followed by the rest of her hand, then up to her elbow, then all the way to her shoulder, until no trace of her arm remained, not even a nub. “Aw, I usually don’t lose stuff right away.” She said, oddly unfazed. “But you get the point. You draw cards and they give you more limbs or take away limbs or whatever, and you just keep doing that as much as you like.” Tracey said nothing and just looked at the deck. “Here,” Laura butted in, reaching for the deck. “I’ll take one too if it makes you feel any better.” She pulled a card and raised her eyebrows a bit before reading it.

“Gain an extra head.”

Her eyes went blank as her entire head shifted to her right, and a lump appeared at the new empty space beside it. It ballooned out, growing hair, obtaining ears and a nose, opening a mouth and eyes until it was a carbon copy of her original head. Lynn giggled as both of Laura’s heads blinked a bit, looked at each other, then laughed. “Yeah, stuff like this can happen,” her right head said to Tracey. “Go on!” She gestured with her left head. Tracey hesitated while looking at Laura for a bit, then turned to me. “Um, you can go first,” she said. “Fair enough,” I replied. I reached for the deck and braced myself as I read my card aloud.

“Gain double the amount of arms you currently have.”

I could quickly feel two lumps forming behind my shoulders, which soon turned into shoulders themselves as a pair of fleshy rods protruded from my back, bent at the elbow, then ended off in hands. The overwhelming sense of all of that new skin set in and I shivered as I raised all four arms up and examined them. Tracey had moved back to avoid getting hit and was very visibly shocked, moreso than before. All three of us looked at her. “Uh, y-you won’t be stuck like this, right?” She asked. Lynn brushed her hair with her only hand. “Of course not!” She answered, pointing at the control card, “The blue button returns everyone back to normal.” Tracey looked at her, then at Laura, who gave her a quick smile from her left head while looking at her phone with her right. She glanced back at the deck, took a deep breath, and grabbed a card.

“Gain an extra pair of eyes.”

“W-what? Oh!” She set the card down and held her forehead while wincing. She moved her hands out of the way to reveal a second set of eyes just above her first, which had also moved her eyebrows up. Tracey groaned. “My vision’s all blurry now, what’s going on?” “Did you not read the card? You’ve got four eyes now!” Laura said while showing Tracey her phone. The camera app was pointing forwards, showing Tracey she did, in fact, have two more eyes. She put her hands over her mouth and stared at herself for a while. “Oh my gosh...” she eventually said, “I... don’t know what to say...” “That’s fine!” Lynn said as Laura put her phone back in her pocket. “It’s all part of the fun!” She grabbed another card.

“Shrink to half your current size.”

Lynn immediately started shrinking. “What the heck?” said Laura, “Since when was that a card you could pull?” “Heh. I may have gotten a booster pack.” Lynn said has her head lowered behind the table. “Well, now we get to find out what they added!” Laura stated as she reached for a card. She looked at it, but didn’t read it. Just frowned at it. “What is it?” Lynn asked, now standing on her chair. She slapped the card on the table and turned it towards us. I leaned over to read it.

“Lose all of your legs.”

I ducked under the table. Sure enough, the holes of Laura’s shorts were now home to just flat skin hidden in darkness. “Wow.” Tracey said, leaning over the side to see them as I raised my head back up. “Well, at least you still have both arms. And two heads.” Lynn commented. Tracey glared at her with her right head while sighing with her left. “You win some, you lose some.” Her left head said before looking up at me. “Your turn.” I glanced over at my right shoulders before grabbing my card.

“Repeat the last card you played.”

At first I was confused, but as my armpits started tingling I remembered what Lynn said about getting a booster pack. Two more flesh rods shot out of each of my sides and formed themselves into arms, giving me eight in total. Laura jumped back with a surprised look on both faces. “Woah! Why’d you get so many!?” I looked at my cards on the table. “Last thing I played doubled my arms.” “Well, it looks like Ruby is winning in the limbs department.” Lynn said with a smile. “Your go, Tracey.” Tracey was in awe of my arms, watching them with all four eyes as I moved them in all directions, but Lynn’s cue snapped her out of it. I can’t deny that I wasn’t also awestruck, as this was way more arms than I ever got when I first played. Tracey grabbed her card.

“Gain an extra leg.”

Tracey looked down and let out a few “Oh!”s as her hips widened and a new leg slid its way down the newly appearing leg shaft of her pants, with a new shoe appearing on her new foot as well. “Ooh! Walk around a bit, why don’t you?” Laura said. Tracey got out of her chair and started walking in a small circle. While she stumbled at first, she quickly found a rhythm and was walking with three legs just as fluently as she did with two, the same way it happened with me. She silently watched her legs in motion with her mouth agape for a bit, then laughed. “I don’t... I can’t... This is so insane!” She said. “It’s crazy how easy your body adapts.” I added. “Well, sit back down. We’re just getting started!” Laura’s left head chimed in. Her right head looked at Lynn. “Lynn, did you already draw?” “Yeah, but it was just another toe on each foot. Boring.” Lynn responded. “Okay, guess it’s my turn!” Laura said, then smiled upon reading her card.

“Gain an extra pair of breasts.”

Two lumps emerged under her boobs from beneath her shirt. She put her hands on them and looked at them with her right head while judging our reactions with her left. “Oh... I didn’t think that was an option.” Tracey said. “Hah! I’m winning the boobs race now!” Tracey’s right head said while looking up and smiling. My turn now. My many arms fumbled around getting caught in eachother trying to reach for a card before I remembered I had them. I also remembered they’re the only thing I’ve got, so I hoped for some variety as I took a card in my bottom-front right hand.

“Lose a mouth.”

As soon as I finished reading that, my lips stuck together and faded away into smooth skin. “Oh my- are you okay!?” Tracey said as she gave me a concerned look. “She’s fine, she can breathe through her nose.” Lynn responded, which only seemed to calm Tracey a little. Oh well, I wasn’t doing much talking anyways. I shrugged and pointed with my top-front left hand at the deck, reminding Tracey it’s her turn. She turned around and hovered her hand over the deck for a second before grabbing a card.

“Grow a foot bigger.”

Tracey slowly increased in size until she was a full foot taller. She went from the shortest player at 5’7 to seeming like a giant, especially compared to a 3 foot tall Lynn. “Woah!” Tracey laughed as she looked down at us. “I bet you’ve got quite the view up there,” Laura’s right head said, “and twice the eyes to enjoy it with!” Her other head added. “So, let’s review.” Lynn tried to clap her hands together, forgetting she only had one. “It’s been three turns. I’m half my size with one arm and six toes, Laura has two heads, four boobs, and no legs, Tracey’s a foot taller with four eyes and three legs, and Ruby has eight arms and no mouth.” I nodded and let out a quiet “Mmm-hmm.” Tracey smiled. “I can see why you like this so much. It’s... oddly fun.” “I like the randomness. You never know what’s gonna happen to you.” Laura said. “I had a game where I had, like, ten heads. It was great.” “So, what is having multiple heads like?” Tracey asked. “Well, it’s easier to focus on multiple things at once.” Laura answered. “Plus, you can do stuff like this.” She said with both heads at once, which made Tracey visibly jump. “Oh come on! Again?” Lynn yelled, then put a card she apparently pulled on the table as she started shrinking.

“Shrink to half your current size.”

By the time I finished reading, Lynn was now standing on the table at only one and a half feet tall. “Wow, deck doesn’t like you today.” Laura said. “Apparently not!” Lynn replied while chuckling. Seeing her this small, I wanted to try something. I extended my top-back right hand onto the table and let out a muffled “Hmm!” Lynn seemed to get the idea as she hesitantly stepped onto my hand and knelt. I lifted her up a bit and noted she was lighter than I expected. It was like I was holding a hyperrealistic doll. “This is so surreal...” Tracey said, basically saying my exact thoughts. Laura grabbed her card as I let Lynn back onto the table, and let out an “uh oh” under her breath before reading her card aloud.

“Lose all of your heads.”

Laura had just enough time to finish that sentence before her facial features vanished as her heads shrunk away into her torso without a trace. No neck stumps, not even a single hair. Tracey gasped as Laura felt the empty space between her shoulders. “Oh my god! Is she gonna die!?” Tracey said, panicked. “Don’t worry, she can still breathe somehow,” Lynn responded, “But she can’t see or hear anything.” Laura felt around her chair and body aimlessly before stopping at her four boobs for a moment. Since touch was her only sense now, everything felt so much more sensitive, and she couldn’t even tell we were still here anymore. A quick nudge to the arm from Lynn was enough to get her to stop. She held her hands up seemingly apologetically and then kept them firmly in the spot where her legs were supposed to be. I took this as my cue to grab my next card.

“Reverse the direction of your legs.”

“What does that mean?” I thought. I stood up off of my chair because it felt like my legs we spinning around, and they apparently had. When I looked down, I could see my butt followed by the back of my legs and my heels. My entire lower half was now facing the other way. “Oh, the must be one of the ones from the booster pack.” Lynn said. I took a few steps back, which felt like a few steps forward except not really, and thought about how I was supposed to sit down now. Tracey had the idea to turn my chair sideways so I could sit facing the table while my legs faced behind me. She then looked at Laura, who pulled out her phone, realized she can’t see it, then put it away again, before taking her next card.

“Gain an extra finger on each hand.”

Tracey looked at her hand and counted her fingers. Sure enough, she had six of them now. She wiggled them a bit as Lynn lifted a card from the pile and onto the table.

“Gain an extra breast.”

“Oh, good!” Lynn said as the third boob grew in between her usual two. Guess she was glad to be catching up to Laura. Speaking of which, it’s her turn now, but she doesn’t realize it. “Laura doesn’t know it’s her turn.” Lynn said. “My rule for when we play is that if a player can’t see or hear, someone will tap their shoulder twice when it’s their turn.” Tracey perked up. “Oh, I guess I can do that.” She reached across the table and tapped Laura twice on the shoulder. Laura blindly felt around for the deck and pulled a card upon finding it, which she put on the table for us to read.

“Lose all of your arms.”

When I looked up, her arms were already gone. She had been reduced to a blob of flesh with four boobs. “Uh, how is she supposed to draw cards now?” asked Tracey. “If a player is incapable of drawing cards, they’re out of the game.” Lynn responded. Laura’s stomach expanded and deflated, implying a sigh signifying she knows this. I’m pretty sure, at least. With how many games of this she’s played with Lynn, I’d be surprised if this was the first time something like this happened. With that, I grabbed my next card.

“Reset your entire body back to normal.”

I was surprised by this, but while it sucked to lose all those arms, it was nice to get my legs facing the right way again, and my mouth back. “Man, these booster pack cards are wild.” Lynn stated. “I’m just glad to have my mouth back.” I said. “Yeah, it’s nice to have more than two people who can talk.” Lynn replied. With that, Tracey pulled a card and gasped.

“Lose all of your facial features.”

Her lips fused and faded away like mine did, all four of her eyes shut and were sealed into smooth skin, her nose retreated into her head as her nostrils closed, even her eyebrows were gone. Her face was now a blank canvas, like she never even had one. She shook her hands as she silently panicked, but Lynn reassured her. “Calm down, you can still hear us. You’ll go back to normal eventually.” This made her settle down, but she was still clearly anxious, not that I could blame her. Lynn flipped another card down.

“Gain a pair of arms.”

With that, she had three arms—two on her left and one on her right. “Thank goodness,” she said while examining her arms, “I’m finally getting good stuff again.” “We’ll see about that.” I replied. With Laura unable to do anything, it was my turn to draw a card.

“Gain triple the amount of heads you currently have.”

My thoughts turned off as everything went blurry and numb. When I came to, my shoulders had expanded to accommodate two more heads. I looked around from three perspectives, seeing a tiny Lynn, a faceless Tracey, and Laura’s torso all at once. “Guess I can use these to make up for the ones who can’t talk.” I said with my left head. Lynn laughed. “Haha, yeah. It’s your turn now, Tracey.” Tracey held out her left hand nervously, to which Lynn walked over, grabbed it, and guided it over to the deck. She pulled the card and held onto it. As I leaned over to try and read it, a dark strip appeared on her face and her mouth emerged from it. “Oh!” She said while panting. “Is my mouth back? Thank god.” Lynn chuckled. “Yeah, now we can have more people talking!” “So, does this just keep going until everybody’s incapacitated?” Tracey asked. “No, we can stop whenever you’d like.” Lynn responded. “In fact, we don’t even need to take turns, that kinda just happened.” At that, I immediately grabbed two more cards, reading both at once with my outermost heads.

“Gain an extra pair of legs.”

“Gain double the amount of breasts you currently have.”

My hips and shorts expanded as two legs grew next to my original ones with the same happening to my boobs. “Slow down there, Ruby! No need to take ‘em all at once!” Lynn said. “Sorry, I just wanted some more stuff after I reset.” Tracey then grabbed a card, causing her to gain another pair of arms. “It’s feels so much more weird when you can’t see them.” She stated. “Well, guess I’ll take one.” Lynn said as she flipped another card.

“Shrink a foot smaller.”

She was already small, but now she was downright tiny at just over half a foot tall. “Why does it want me to be tiny so bad!?” Lynn groaned, her tiny voice so quiet it was almost inaudible. I may not have even heard it if I didn’t have three sets of ears. “I don’t think I can even pull cards like this.” Lynn said. “Besides, they’d probably just make me smaller.” “I’m fine to reset whenever.” Tracey said. “So I guess it’s just me we’re waiting on.” I said. Lynn jumped back down to her chair, Laura remained motionless, and Tracey just crossed all of her arms. I thought about it for a moment, then drew a card.

“Repeat the last card you drew.”

What was the last card I drew? Judging by the new lumps that appeared below my other ones, it was the double boobs card, so now I had eight boobs. From that, I kept going. Pulling card after card, changing in more and more ways. I gained a forth head, then lost it, I had eight feet eight toes at one point, I had three eyes on each head briefly, and I just kept getting more boobs. At some point, Tracey made me hit the yellow button for my own safety, meaning if no cards were drawn for five minutes, everyone would be reset. She also drew a few card, which ended in her losing her arms. I just kept going until I had no heads and only one arm, which I eventually lost too.

There I was, sitting in silence, feeling a lot like Laura probably did right now. I had twelve legs in two rows of six, and 21 boobs in three rows of seven. Everything that lead up to this moment felt like a blur now, as I had no choice but to sit in nothingness for what felt like forever, but I knew deep down was only five minutes. I contemplated the absurdity of this game, how far I had changed myself, how it felt playing with everyone, and how good it felt. Even now, sitting in this endless void felt like bliss, like I was leaving everything behind, just feeling my many legs rubbing against eachother and my boobs against my shirt... Then the timer ran out and I was back to normal.

“Whew, what a game...” Lynn said, now at normal size. “Yeah, for you guys, I was a torso for most of it!” Laura replied. “So, what about you two? Any thoughts?” Lynn asked. “That was... life-changing.” Tracey stated. “Sorry, that sounds cheesy, but I’ve never felt anything like that before.” “I had fun too. Much better with friends.” I added. Laura checked her phone. “Oh, it’s getting kinda late. I gotta head out.” “Yeah, me too.” Tracey added. “Same here.” I said. “Alright, then. Thanks for coming over, and have a good night!” Lynn said with a smile. We all walked off. “You too!” Tracey said. “See ya!” Laura added.
