"Two," the Head tossed down two cards and Tony dealt her two more. She looked at the cards and threw two tokes into the pot. "Hold," she said.
Tony nodded at Tracy, his fiance smirking slightly. And not because she may or may not have had a good hand, but because he was there with her. "Raise," she said, throwing three tokens into the pot, and leaving her hand face down.
"Someone's being confident," Eden coo'd as the turn passed to her. She looked at her hand. "One," she said, removing one card form her hand and then "Hold," tossing down three tokens. "Vella?"
The woman looked deep in thought as she looked at her hand. "Fold," she announced, "I'll take my chances."
"Damn, what's your hand?" Miranda asked as she tossed four into the pot. "Raise and Call."
"Vella," Tony said. "You're out, want to go first?"
Vella laid out her hand, "Pair of Sixes," she announced. "Miranda?"
"Flush, Ace through Five," Miranda smirked as she laid out her hand to some appreciation at the table. "Head?"
"Two Pair, Three and Seven," the Head didn't quite beat Miranda. But it was close. "Head?"
"Nothing in particular, Pair of Jacks," she admitted, putting her ahead of Vella by far. "Tracy?"
"Read'em and weep!" Tracy laid her hand down on the table, allowing everyone to see for themselves before she announced it for everyone. "Four Kings! And a Three. But who cares? No Royal Flushes available, so unless you got a straight?" She turned to Eden, looking at the last hand with glee.
"The only one properly straight here is Tony," she gestured at the dealer. "And he's straight to you," she admitted as she revealed a hand that had a three of a kind - Sevens. "Take the pot."
"Woo-hoo!" Tracy gathered it all in her hands, and looked without remorse at Vella. "Sorry," she said, obviously not.
"It's alright, it's just a game," Vella dismissed the concerns with ease. "However, I am out," she indicated her lack of tokens. "What's the prize?" she asked, looking at the side deck that was beside Tony.
Tony looked at it and shuffled it a couple times before offering Vella a hidden hand, which she then flipped over a single card. "Guillotine," she said. "First one, and I'll lose my head. "I would like to MC like that," she said.
"We can do that," Eden suggested. "You start the show already set up, and either get some audience participation or something like that to get the heart thumping."
"Sounds reasonable," Vella agreed. "Tony?"
At that, Tony dealt out another set of cards to the four remaining players. "I received an invitation," the Head said as she set down two cards and drew, starting the round of with two tokens.
"Can't leave us hanging like that," Eden said as Tracy frowned at her hand, and rolled the whole thing, five for five before matching the Head's offering.
"True," the Head said as Eden raised to three, and flipped two cards in her hand. "Spring Break will be on us soon, and a certain man who styles himself as 'Evil' wants us all to come over."
"I've heard of him," Vella offered as Miranda judged her hand, matching the pot and switching out one card. "He's a professional entertainer for that resort, isn't he?"
"Yes, he is," the Head replied as she checked her hand, "One," she raised another token after getting her card. "However, the usual deals apply. He would be in charge much like I am." Miranda wagered. "And that would put him over me."
"In more ways than one, I would assume," Tracy said as she waited for her turn.
The Head let a small smile slip across her face. "That's... negotiable," she said as she finished her round of betting.
"So we would be doing the same thing then, just for a week," Miranda asked.
"Correct," the Head agreed. "But he does like his peril, and is more than willing to not tell his assistants what he's doing for the more authentic response."
"What about Tony?" Tracy asked as she bet.
"He will come a guest. He won't be a member of the Club, and he has to let us do our work," the Head said.
Tracy placed her bet. "Call."
Everyone revealed their hands, and the Head lost out. "Well, what's the card?" she asked as Tony shuffled the small deck of ideas and held out a hand for her to pick from.
"Wringer," the Head announced. "Ideas?"
Vella shook her head, while Eden tapped her chin. "Let me think," she said. "Tony?"
Tony collected the cards and shuffled up. Tracy, Eden and Miranda were left, so he quickly dealt their hands. "So, what sort of things happen?" Miranda asked. "I mean, if we're all going?"
"He enjoys the peril aspects, as I said," the Head repeated herself. "Expect to be used as a prop or assistant at any time, for any reason. He does two shows a day," she paused to let people do their own betting. "Five days a week, with random things here and there to keep interest up."
"Ah, so free-form," Eden said. "Wringer. Hard to make something interesting out of that."
"Didn't you just have that thing where you dropped into a shredder?" Tony asked as he dealt a card to Miranda. "Why not that?"
"That's a thought," Eden replied. "Ah, Two. Raise."
Tracy was still winning. She didn't bother to wager much, and let her hand lay. "Make a game out of it?" she suggested.
"How so?" the Head asked.
"Timer?" Eden thought aloud. "Make a game out of how long you hang up there until you get sucked into the wringer with Vella helping or hindering as needed."
"I'm fine with that," Vella said. "Miss Head?"
"Good enough for a start," the Head said as the betting went on for order of the next show. "We should see what comes next in case we can segue into something or not."
Tony nodded at that, and dealt out the last hand. Miranda threw everything into the pot, forcing Eden to match, and Tracy to dig into her reserves. In the end, it was close, but Tracy won out with two pairs, higher than Eden had. "If it wasn't for the fact she's lost hard in the past," Miranda handed her winnings over to Tracy, "I would almost think that he was stacking her hand."
"I don't have to," Tony said. "She wins or loses, I win. And if I win, she wins one way or the other." He shrugged at that as he held out a hand for Miranda to select.
"Sawing in half," she announced.
"Oooh!" Eden held up her hand in excitement. "Get this. The Head is Wringered and put on display, like that," she quickly elaborated. "But when it comes to sawing Miranda in half, there's no saw, so you use the Head as a giant paper cut!"
"Can we switch out to a mis-made then?" Miranda asked. "Make a 'U' shape with the Head as the blades instead."
"Aye," it was carried unanimously.
"Don't bother with the cards," Eden held up a hand to forestall Tony from dealing out the last round. "I see where this is going. Let's move on to the trick."
"Aww..." Tracy complained. "I wanted to clean you out totally!"
"Girl, go to Vegas and win hard with that luck of yours," Eden pointed at Tracy.
"We're not allowed," the Head said. "Vegas has ways of knowing."
Everyone looked at her, then put that thought out of their mind. Tony shuffled and drew five cards, presenting them face down to Eden. "Pick your doom," he said.
Eden did. "Melting?" she looked down at her card in surprise. "Since when?"
"Since now," several people said at once. "How about I volunteer to be melted into glue to try and get Miranda put back together?"
"Seems awkward," Vella said.
Miranda had to agree. "Yeah, too much setup."
"On the other hand," the Head suggested, "She could be melted onto the backside of my sheet."
"Two for-one?" Eden thought about that. "No, how about melting then painting me onto a canvas instead, with a free costume change to go with it?"
The others seemed to find that acceptable. "Tracy, your turn," Tony handed his fiance her hand of five cards. He didn't know what they were. He wasn't about to cheat on this, the suspense of not knowing what she would be put through while he watched her on the stage.
She flipped the card she had chosen over. "Shrinking? Really?"
"That's a hard act to end on," the Head said. "Not impossible, but very hard."
Tracy glared at her card, then for posterity's sake flipped the others over. They were all blank. "Cheater," she muttered to no one in particular. No chance for her to see what she had missed. Tony collected the cards, and shuffled them all up. "Getting small?"
"Idea!" Eden raised her hand. "Let's go all in on the image theme for this show! Vella is behind a screen and does a Shadow Play, ending with her coming out from behind with her head still off! Then the Head gets flattened into a picture. Miranda gets imaged as well, but she gets torn in half," she made a ripping motion with her hands, "and is restored that way. I get melted into paint and painted onto a canvas. Probably a living picture, while Tracy gets focused and shrunk down like that stupid kid in the Wonka movie."
"Mike Teevee," the Head informed them. "Played by.... Paris Themmen in the Gene Wilder version of the story. 1971."
Everyone else looked at her in surprise. "What? I'm a woman of culture."
"You run a fetish club," Tony pointed out. "But I preferred Young Frankenstein," he pronounced that correctly.
"You're both weird," Tracy objected. "But I like the idea. Images! All in favor?"
"Aye!"
"And now you all have to actually plan this all out," Tony said. "I'll clean up. See you later, honey," he kissed his fiance. "Rest of you, don't so anything I wouldn't do, please."
"See you later!" Vella spoke up first. "We won't keep you apart too long."
