The pink-dressed helper returned Laurel's headless body to her friends, who assured her that they would take care of her, and make sure the Rabbit put her back in one piece when all was said and done. She trusted them for some reason and went looking for someone else to catch her eye.
On the stage though, the Rabbit decided to distract her audience from the person in their midst. She leaned over the oddly shaped container that still sat there, and spoke aloud to the audience. "I think I should return Penny to her normal form," she said. "After all, it would be rude of me to keep her from watching the rest of the show."
She produced a small bag from under the table, the black cloth shimmering in the reflected stage light. "Though I don't think I can put her back the way she was before," she noted sadly as she took in the impossibly arranged box. "So I'll just have to do this the old-fashioned way." She held up the bag and inverted it to show it was empty - "with magic!"
The Rabbit placed the bag under the table, mouth facing upward. She then began to remove individual blocks, from the size of a large piece of Lego to her fist. Each was collected and dropped into the bag, eliciting a sound of surprise from within. "That's weird," Penny said as the pile shrunk, though her voice seemed to come from inside and outside the bag at the same time.
"Well," the Rabbit said, "I'm pretty sure someone is recording this in the audience, so if you ask nicely, they can show you what you missed."
"Thank you!" Penny called out loudly.
Pretty quickly, the Rabbit had removed all the pieces, and placed them into the bag. She held the top closed, and gave the whole thing a shake so that the audience could hear the small boxes rattling within. She then set the bag down on the floor and gave the top a small tug. There was silence for a moment before the top fell open, revealing no pieces or boxes inside, but Penny restored! She stood up and stretched her legs to the applause of the audience, only to look down in surprise.
Her old clothes were gone, and in their place were pants and shirt that were the same colour as the box she had found herself in! "Neat," she said as she twisted back and forth. "Do I get to keep them?"
"Sure," the Rabbit shrugged. "You can keep that. Consider it thanks for the help."
"Thank you!" Penny lunged at the Rabbit and gave her a quick hug before vanishing back into the audience.
"Hey, have you found anyone yet?" The Rabbit moved on past the restoration only to find her helper waiting to one side.
"I did," she said as she stepped onto the stage, two volunteers following her. "These are Lucy and Sandy," she introduced them. "They're lifeguards for the top-deck pools and are off."
Indeed, the two women who flanked the pink-clad woman were in red lifeguard swimsuits, the name of the ship on their backs. Lucy had her red hair cut short, her skin glowing under the lights, while Sandy was closer to the Rabbit in skin colour and her black hair was also cut short due to their mutual job.
"So, you work for the ship?" the Rabbit asked, curious.
"Yes," Lucy replied. "But we got off, so there's no conflict of interest."
"Oh good," the Rabbit sighed in relief. "As long as you're both ready for your next shift, right?"
"That's right." It was Sandy who replied. "One of our co-workers couldn't stop raving about how awesome your show was, so we had to come by and check it out for ourselves."
"That's wonderful!" The Rabbit applauded. "Word of mouth is so amazing." She looked at the two lifeguards, then at her helper. "Oh, I know exactly what to do now," she said as she raised one finger. "I'll be right back," she said, and dashed off the back of the stage, only to return a second later with two swords in her hands.
She handed one of them to each new volunteer. "These are magic swords," she explained, "though that should be obvious." The two women examined the long blades with sharp edges. "Now, here's what you two are going to do. You're going to swing your swords through my helper here until I say stop. She's going to stand perfectly still, and you'll be able to cut wherever you want."
"However," the Rabbit informed the two of them sternly, "there is a trick to the swords. But I'm not going to tell you what it is until you're done. I'll give you each a half-dozen swings, then end it."
The helper stood still, seemingly unconcerned as the two other women advanced on her with weapons raised. "Hold still," Lucy said as she drew back her blade. Sandy stepped away as Lucy swung around, the blade passing clean through the helpers neck.
And nothing happened.
"Huh?" Lucy asked, looking at the blade in hand. "Oh, I think I get it!" she said as this time she passed the blade through the pink woman's waist. "Your turn," she motioned to Sandy.
"But you haven't used all your cuts yet!"
"No one said they had to be all at once," she said. There was an agreeing nod from the Rabbit, and Sandy stepped up. She carefully aimed, and swung her sword down from overhead and through the middle of the still woman.
Sandy then stepped to one side, and carefully passed her blade through the pink woman's chest, behind her breasts. They were unmoved and the bikini she wore undamaged.
"My turn," Lucy said as she delivered another horizontal stroke, this one through the middle of the helpless helper's breasts. She was still intact, so Lucy cut her off through the legs.
"I've got this," Sandy said as she gently pushed Lucy back. She placed her sword against their victim's arms and with two strokes, passed through them at the shoulders. "Your last two," she stepped back for Lucy.
"I think you had the right idea," Lucy placed the sharp edge of her sword between the helper's legs, tight up against her bikini bottom. Then she slowly pulled the blade higher and higher, watching intently as the helper showed no signs that anything was wrong, let alone a sword bisecting her vertically for the second time.
"Nope," she admitted. "I thought we had to cut her twice on the same line for some reason." With a casual swing, she flicked the blade through the right wrist, then handed the sword back to the Rabbit.
"Sandy, your last swings please?" The Rabbit took the weapon and put it to one side.
Sandy pondered this for a moment, then cut the helper through her hips, on a slight angle due to how she swung, then handed the sword back to the Rabbit. "I'm done," she said.
"Very well." The Rabbit nodded at the helper, who started to move again, still untouched by the blades. She took the other sword and put it with the other one. "Now," she said as she raised one hand above her head. "When I snap my fingers, all the cuts you applied to my assistant," she paused for dramatic effect, "will be applied to you."
She snapped her fingers.
The results were instant. Lucy fell apart, her neck, her chest, her waist, her legs all sliding to one side. The vertical cut she delivered caused each half to go its own separate way, and her wrist falling away unnoticed.
Sandy too fell to each side, her own first strike her own doom as her view split in twain. From her chest, her breasts slid off, and her arms fell down with no warning. Lastly, as she fell to the sides, the cut at her waist separating her top half from her bottom.
And the Rabbit watched all this with a knowing smirk. She reached down and plucked Lucy's hand from the pile. The cut on the wrist was covered in skin, and she gave it an experimental tap. The hand twitched. "Well," she said as she tossed the hand into the bag that Penny had vacated minutes earlier, "they always fall to pieces for that one."
At her command, the helper held the bag open, and the Rabbit quickly gathered up all the pieces - the swimsuits still attached - and put them in the bag. "I think we'll leave them like that," she said. "They'll have the chance to get to know each other better. And," she added, "if they ask politely, I think I'll even put them back the way I found them." She closed the bag and set it off to one side, leaning the two swords against it.
"I think I have time for one or two more before we take a break," she gestured to her helper. "You get one person this time, and I'll get the next prop ready."
