"Hello everyone, and welcome to the Webshow 'Impossible Illusions'!" On the screen, the host of the show, called simply 'The Assistant' bowed. For this show, she wore her hair up in a bun behind her head, and wore a purple sundress that reached her knees. As usual, she was standing on the white stage, her mask perfectly preventing her from being identified.
"Thank you all for watching my show," she said with a bow. "After this show, I will be taking a hiatus. Do not worry, I will not be abandoning you, by precious audience, merely taking a break."
She stooped down and plucked the envelope from the floor. "And for today's last request, paid for in full," she opened the envelope. "Hello!" she read aloud, "I was wondering if you've ever considered taking someone to help you perform on your show, and if you did, what would you do?"
The Assistant shook her head as she tossed away the message. "Well, I already have a helper," she said as she pointed behind her, where the Helper, the masked man, was busy rolling out a table with a box on it. "And as for a second Assistant, well, what would be call her?" She put one finger to the lips on her mask in false contemplation. "Then I would have to train her, find some way to hide her identity, not to mention all the effort of hiring... No, there are better ways to go about doing that."
She approached the camera and lifted it up, carrying it to the table. The Helper was there, finishing up what he was doing before taking the camera from the Assistant. Once the lens was pointed at her, she spoke again. "As you can see behind me," she gestured at the table, "I have all the parts for a mannequin here. We shall call her... Mandy." The Assistant picked up the blank head from the table and displayed it beside hers. "Say hello Mandy."
There was silence.
"Well, she must just be shy," the Assistant said as she replaced the head on the table. "But you're all here to watch me do something impossible, so impossible it shall be." She gently arranged the plastic parts into a roughly human shape. Then she hopped backward onto the table. "One thing I've seen many magicians do with multiple assistants is mix up their body parts - or at least pretend to," she lifted up the mannequin's left arm and showed the hollow interior to the camera.
She set down the arm, and crossed her right arm over her chest. "And so," she said with a jerk of her hand, "I will switch parts."
In her right hand was her left arm, the camera panning up the naked limb until it clearly showed the gap between arm and shoulder. Smooth skin covered where they should have been joined.
The Assistant set down her arm of flesh and picked up the plastic one. She pressed the joint against her bare shoulder, and the camera watched as they suck together. Pulling back, the camera watched as the Assistant began to flex her plastic arm, the fingers creaking as they moved and curled into a fist. "It's still plastic," she said as she rapped her right hand on the new arm, eliciting a hollow 'thunk'.
"But there is still more to go," she said, and this time used her artificial arm to remove her right one. Once again, the camera panned over the separated body part as she set it down beside the plastic equivalent and picked that one up instead.
Attaching it at her shoulder, the Assistant flexed her new limbs carefully. She was getting better at controlling them and was able to move the fingers with some dexterity.
Without another word, she reached down and put both hands onto her right leg below the hem of her dress. Before the sight of the camera, she gave her leg a twist and pulled it clear of the dress. It could clearly be seen how her dress collapsed without the leg under it to hold its shape. She held her separated leg out for the camera to examine, which it did in great detail before the Assistant put it aside and recovered the plastic leg from the table.
Carefully, she lifted the hem of her skirt just enough to let her slide in the top, hollow, part of the leg under it, then manoeuvred it with both hands until it connected with her hip. The Helper carefully set the camera to a more wide angle to show the Assistant flex her new leg, bending it at the knee and ankle.
"Last one," she announced, and this time she replaced her remaining leg.
Carefully, the Assistant stood on the two fake limbs, stumbling for a moment before her control was total and complete. She bowed. "Thank you all," she said with misplaced limbs. "But before I finish, I think there is one last thing for me to do." She returned to the table on stilted legs and leaned over it.
As the camera watched, she attached her fleshy former limbs to the torso of the mannequin. They attached just as easily as they were detached from her real body. Then, she drew the attention of the Helper and the camera. "That wasn't it," she assured them. "It's this!"
Putting her plastic hands to the sides of her head, the Assistant casually lifted it off her shoulders, the camera watching with amazing detail as the masked head was set down on top of the mannequin's shoulders. Then the arms took the plastic head in their hands and set it on the empty shoulders.
"Well," the Assistant said from her laying down position, the Helper stepping back to get a view of both bodies, "This is certainly interesting," she slowly began to leverage herself upward, the plastic body not flexing as well as her old one. She tapped her chest, a very hollow sound coming from within. "I mean, I get so many requests to see my naked body, and when I do show it off, it's just plastic!"
She turned and stepped off the table, her naked body showed nothing that could be considered sensual. "One again," The Assistant bowed, and 'Mandy' shortly thereafter. "Thank you again for watching my show, and I will see you next season."
