Three Short Shifts

1: Kelly



Kelly was made of rubber. Not exactly, but on the day her powers had matured she had discovered her body was impossibly pliable and she could extend and elongate any part of her body at will. What she usually did was enjoy stretching herself – nothing was out of her reach and no space or gap too narrow. Today though, it occurred to her that she should be able to remould her body like clay. With time on her hands, she was going to attempt that now. Instead of lengthening her frame, she willed it to fill out some. She improved the definition of the muscles on her arms and legs, tightened up the bottom. It was irresistible to add a cup size to her chest. And then a delicate series of stretches and tweaks remodelled her face. Wider eyes, nose more prominent, thinner lips and mouth. Her brow became slightly more pronounced and her ears shifted position just enough to render her indistinguishable form her regular form. Her hair waved and undulated like seaweed in a gentle current, experimentally altering length and shape. All it took was a final thought to ‘lock’ this new form and Kelly had become an entirely different person…
