I found this languishing on my hard drive and since I've not added anything in a while thought I'd put it up here. I wrote this sort of as a one-off chapter for a longer work I had in mind. This is the only chapter that I consider completed. The idea, I thought, deserved to be novel length but I soon realized that I had neither the time nor the resources (or the ability) to write a novel. Besides, I didn't know the beginning or the ending. Anyway, please consider this a first draft (proofing of typos, grammar, and structure only done once through). Not sure I even finalized the character's names and though it's written with male characters, feel free to imagine whatever genders you prefer (I think it could would with about any combination with only minor changes).
