(TFs: Hamster, horse, guinea pig, piggy bank, shaving cream, and many more...)

My 'freak out' experience finding out how old my husband Roman really was now was a whole week behind us, and we were both desperately trying to mend our relationship. Learning that my good-looking, strong, youthful husband was really eighty-five years old had definitely been jarring, and each time I came back to it, I kept assuring myself that age did not matter. No matter how long Roman had been on this earth, no matter how many more decades he'd existed before I came along, he was still my husband, and I truly loved him.

So we went to an early dinner at a new restaurant in town, and we talked of subjects other than transformation. Roman, thanks to his transformation talent, loved to change me to whatever I requested of him, and I usually took advantage of this to the fullest. But between my attending college and our little 'riff', I'd been very little things other than human.

One night I was his toothbrush on his recommendation. He was trying to do anything to make me happy, and he said I'd feel nice as he swept my bristles across his teeth. He was right. Another morning, after his daily query as to what, if anything, I'd like to be, I had the overwhelming urge to be used as his shaving cream. Roman didn't usually shave, because he could simply change himself to not have a beard. But he purposely (and swiftly) grew some stubble out just so he could use me on it.

I loved being foamy. He took an empty shaving cream can and put me inside. When I spurted out, it was awesome. The whole experience was awesome.

But other than that, I was me. It was odd, because, usually after I'd return from school, I very often asked him to change me so I could relax. This week, however, I remained human and immediately delved into my homework. Only once did he bother me during my work all week – he became a pair of fluffy slippers for me when I said my feet hurt. He did feel nice underfoot. He cuddled and massaged the soles of my feet as I worked, and it gave me an odd satisfaction to walk on my husband, though I couldn't admit it to him...

The meal was passable, although I wasn't thrilled with my dessert, so Roman promised he'd create whatever I wanted at home. As usual, he paid and tipped quite generously, and we walked out the door, his arm protectively around my shoulder. It was funny – he had never been big on public displays of affection, but after this fight, he was constantly holding my hand or at least hovering nearby, as if I might get stolen away or run off.

We ambled down the street, neither in any great hurry to return home. “Oh, the pet shop's still open,” I exclaimed. “Let's go in.” I loved this place. 'Annie's Animals' sold only rescued animals, and portions of their sales benefited animal charities and animal rescue organizations.

Roman stopped by a cage. “They rescue hamsters?” he asked, observing the animals running in a wheel. He probably wanted to join them, knowing him.

“Well, why not? There's always unwanted babies...” I let my voice trail off as I watched them. They actually did look like they were having fun. That was the life – eating, playing, sleeping in a pile of wood chips... “I want to try that,” I murmured.

The next thing I knew, I was tiny, furry, four-legged, and on the floor, Roman gazing down at me lovingly.

Roman! I didn't mean now! Someone might have seen!

He scooped me up in his hand and petted me gently. “Oh, I always look before I change things, you know that.”

“Hey! No touching the animals without supervision!”

It just had to happen that the storeowner came from the front room at that very moment, a customer following him closely.

For once, Roman was at a loss for words. “But...she's...mine...” he stammered, holding me aside as if to shield me. I could feel his hand sweating against my fur.

“You didn't buy her. She's mine!” the owner grabbed me roughly away, squeezing me. I squeaked in protest, but he didn't seem to care. He deposited me into the cage with the rest of the hamsters, who eyed me suspiciously.

“That one was kind of nice,” said the woman behind him. “Pretty coat.”

“What, the one this guy had?”

“Yes, can I buy it?”

“It's a female.”

“Oh,” the woman giggled. “I have a male at home. Maybe they'll have babies!”

Even through the glass, I could see Roman blanch. “No, I wanted to buy her!” he protested. “We've...bonded,” he added, wincing slightly.

The storeowner sized him up, probably wondering if he was some sicko or something. “No, I think she'll be happier here at this woman's house. She'll even have a friend.” Whether "friend" meant the male hamster or the lady herself was anyone's guess. I didn't really care. I just didn't feel like being someone's pet right now.

“I'll only take her, no others,” Roman insisted.

“Well, then, buddy, you'll have to find yourself another pet store!” spat the owner, and then I was being scooped out of the tank and stuffed into a cardboard box with airholes on the top.

Yes, with the claws I had, I could probably scratch and bite my way out of it. But what would that do? Probably end up with me hitting the floor, breaking my neck, and dying as a rodent.

I sighed, my whiskers drooping.

When I was being driven to my new home, a small grass moth entered my box. Corrie, I'm turning you into a moth and we're flying out of here, it instructed.

Roman was actually kind of cute with the feathery antennae and fuzzy abdomen... Oh, Roman, I can't do that to the lady. She's just trying to get a pet. If she opens the box and there's no hamster, she'll be so upset.

Who cares about her? He flapped his brown wings in impatience.

Oh, come on, Roman.

He was silent a bit. Well, I'm staying with you to protect you, he insisted.

How about you go get another hamster to substitute me with?

He batted one wing, even more annoyed. Pet stores are all closed now. And no, I'm not going to steal one. I'm honest.

I wasn't asking you to steal anything! And you don't need to stay with me. I'll be fine.

Guess what? No, you won't be. Those male hamsters can be pretty damned voracious.

I really, really did not want to know how he knew this. Totally not.

I've been one, he answered nonetheless. Well, that wasn't as bad an explanation as I thought it was going to be...

“No, I've never been a female hamster,” he said out loud in a pinched voice.

I guess he could read my mind deeper than I thought.

“Here's your new house, honey,” said a voice beyond my box. The top opened up, and fingers shooed away the insect beside me. “How'd you get in here, silly?” the voice boomed. The fingers then picked me up and placed me in another tank full of wood shavings.

“Like your new house, honey? Hey, good name. I'll call you 'Honey'!”

The moth fluttered past me. Oh, wow, talk about original! it said before being shooed off yet again.

“This is Gordie,” announced the woman, pointing her huge finger. A male hamster at the other side of the tank wiggled its nose at me. I wonder what I smelled like to him.

The woman pushed Gordie closer to me. “Come on, Gordie, be a gentleman. This pretty girl's name is Honey!”

Gordie seemed semi-interested in me. He circled around me, then went off to take a swig from his water bottle. Great. I'd have to share that with him. I'd get to slurp up hamster spit... Roman, you need to get me out of here, I focused my thoughts above me. I wonder if he even heard, or if he'd gotten attracted to a light or something.

By now it was night. I was very hungry, and I had no problem eating the hamster food that Gordie was already dining on. Yes, it was dry and wood-like, but it did the trick. And yes, I did take a swig from Gordie's water bottle. I was that thirsty.

I curled up in the corner where the wood chips were thickest. As I tried to doze off, Roman buzzed by my ear. “I'm going to sleep in here with you. I'm right up at the top of the hamster wheel. Tomorrow morning I'll go out and find someone to switch you with.”

Someone?

“Well, some...hamster.”

Oh. I got scared there for a moment.

“Good night.”

Good night, Roman.

But it wasn't a good night. Midway through, Gordie came nosing at me, and I soon realized that Roman's male hamster comment was dead-on. Gordie was getting all amorous on me, and it scared me that my hamster body was reacting to it. I made a big squeal that startled Gordie and made him run behind the wheel, but it would only be a matter of time before he came back.

“What's wrong, Corrie?” Roman fluttered down beside me.

You were right. Male hamsters are...crazy.

“Oh, that's what that was. Sorry.”

Can you do anything to stop him from attacking me?

“Turn him to stone?”

I really didn't want to scare the poor guy. He was just doing what nature dictated. With a sigh, I replied, No, don't do anything to him. Do it to me. Make me a very realistic porcelain statue of my hamster-self.

“Really?”

Honestly, Roman, I just want to sleep.

I hardened into porcelain, and, after Gordie's few lame attempts at making love with an object, both of us fell asleep.

The next morning, I found myself back as a living being, albeit a hamster. “Sorry, Corrie, but I can't leave you porcelain. The woman will see. Listen, I'm going to get another hamster. Do your best to fend off Mr. Lover there. Those squeaks work pretty well on him.”

Roman was off before I could respond. I walked over to the hamster wheel and stepped in, figuring I was safe from the still-slumbering Gordie inside.

No sooner did I start running, which was amusing in a brainless sort of way, when I was scooped up by a large hand. “Are you having fun, little Honey?” the huge fingers stroked my fur a bit too hard, and I worried that the woman would crush me. In this form, I was pretty delicate.

“Did you and Gordie have fun last night?” she placed me almost on top of the slumbering animal, who looked around confusedly. “Hi Gordie! Wakey-wakey!” she poked at him, and he slowly stood up and went to his food bowl. “Oh, Gordie, why don't you give Honey here a kiss? She's such a cutie!” she placed him back beside me. “You can make little babies with her!”

I dashed back into the wheel and began to run. Very, very fast.

“This one looks like you, doesn't it?” Roman's voice was in my ear, and it wasn't soon enough. Gordie had spent the last half hour trying to get into the wheel with me, and I was exhausted from rejecting his overtures.

Another hamster (as well as my husband) was now in the cage with us. “Wait, let me change her coloration to be just like yours,” Roman murmured from somewhere above me. The hamster's coat changed, probably without it even knowing anything had befallen it. “Yes, good enough.”

Roman, what are you?

“I'm a tiny gnat. Here, I'm bigger.” A rather scary large gnat alighted before me. It kept growing until it was bigger than me, laughing all the while. “Now I'm your worst nightmare!”

“I've been worse.”

“Come to think of it, so have I.”

This little conversation was irking the hell out of me. “Get me out of here now, Roman!” I cried angrily.

He did.

We were house flies, and I think he did this just to fool further with me, but I didn't care. I was free of the amorous Gordie, and that was all that mattered. When we got back to our house, I needed a break.

Roman picked up on this immediately. “As something inanimate?”

“Yes. Be creative.”

I was a person for all of seconds before I shrank down to all fours, hollowing and hardening fast.

“I am?”

Roman pulled a coin from his pocket and inserted it into a slot on top of me. “A piggy bank!”

The coin fell through me, rattling against my insides and settling to my bottom. The jostling was honestly kind of stimulating. “More coins!” I yelled, and he went off to get the change jar from our bedroom.

Roman sat at the table, filling me with coins as we chatted.

“Didn't you have any fun being a hamster?” he queried with true interest.

I pondered this. My time as a hamster might have been better had there been no male hamsters in my cage. And, of course, if Roman had been my 'owner' instead of a complete stranger...

“The wheel was kind of exciting,” I finally uttered from my porcelain jaw.

“Hm,” Roman plunked a half-dollar into me. Such a big coin felt especially good against my insides.

“You know, I should turn into one of those hamster wheels and let you run around inside me. That could be fun.”

“Keep feeding me coins, Roman.”

He did, silent for a few moments. He was rubbing my shiny surface when he stopped abruptly. “I think I heard hoofbeats...” he stood up and peered through the window. “Yes! It's your mom and Dave. Wow, I turned him into a beautiful horse, I have to admit it.”

“Tell her to come in.” My words made me shake a bit, which rattled the coins inside me, making me want to stay in this form. “But leave me like this. I like it.”

He tucked me under his arm and opened the door. My mom was dismounting the horse that was really my stepfather. Both looked quite happy. “Hi, Kate. You enjoying your new ride?” Roman asked her without bothering to take her inside the house. I guess he didn't want Dave trampling dirt in on his hooves.

My mom cuddled the horse, sweeping her fingers through his silky mane. He nuzzled her. “I comb him all the time. He loves it. He loves everything about being a horse. I'm not sure he ever wants to turn back.”

The horse winked at them.

Nodding, Roman said, “But?”

“I want to be a horse too.”

I can't say I was totally surprised to hear this. Roman had turned my mother into a peacock for a bit, and she really seemed to be warming up to the whole transformation idea. But she did have a life...“For how long, Mom?” I yelped from under Roman's arm. For a moment I forgot I was a piggy bank.

Both Dave's and my mother's eyes bulged out. “Corrie...is that...you...” she whispered, stretching a shaking finger towards me.

“She's a piggy bank,” Roman explained helpfully. He held me out in front of them, clinking his wedding band against my side.

I'm not sure my mother knew quite how to respond to this. She drew back her finger without touching me, and instead went back to her original subject. “Make me a horse for a bit, Roman. I'll come back to you when I'm ready to be me again.”

“Kate, what about... life?”

“What about Dave's? It's on hold. Everything's taken care of.”

“You have to stay out of sight. Don't go wandering through town in horse form. They'll catch you and put you on a farm or something,” Roman warned, but I could see he was gathering up his energy to transform her.

“I know that, Roman,” she snapped. “Please?”

Her body was already shifting as Roman ran his fingers lightly through her hair. “I'll make you beautiful, Kate.” He smiled, drawing the strands back and creating her mane. Dave neighed quietly, stamping his foot.

It was wonderful to see my mother become such a marvelous animal. Her fur grew in pure white, her eyes widened into chocolate-brown pools, and her tail grew out glossy and long. The blissful look on her face made everything worthwhile. She was truly enjoying her metamorphosis, which was further punctuated by pleasured moans until she was finally complete.

She tapped around on her new hooves very carefully at first, and then, as she grew more used to her large form, she began to gallop around with abandon. “Oh, it's wonderful, Roman! Hey, I can talk?”

“You don't want to either?”

“No, no! Dave and I want the full horse experience!”

“Okay,” Roman said doubtfully.

“Have fun, Corrie. But maybe you be something a little more exciting than a piggy bank!”

“Sure, Mom!” I replied, my coins jingling inside me.

My mother and Dave both necked at each other once, and then, with a series of delighted whinnies, they ran off into the woods together.

“It's going to be some night with those two,” Roman commented, carrying me back into the house and placing me on the table.

“Let's do the hamster thing now,” I requested.

“Okay.” I watched Roman prepare to turn into a hamster ball with interest. He sat down on the floor, hugging his legs to his chest so he formed a ball, and then he simply dissolved into a hollow plastic hamster wheel. “Get in me,” it said, shaking back and forth.

“How? I'm still a porcelain pig.”

“No, you're a guinea pig.”

As I changed into one, I asked, “Do guinea pigs go in hamster wheels?”

“They go in me.” He twisted himself around a bit to emphasise this. “Get on in!”

I climbed in and began to run. Roman moaned, explaining the tapping of my little feet against him was like a stimulating massage. Well, at least someone was enjoying this. It was kind of getting me winded. Although I had to admit, running around in my husband was kind of an interesting experience.

I bet Mom and Dave were having the time of their lives, meanwhile.
