I've had a couple of people interested in writing stories in the Fox Serum universe, which is great.  Just a quick run-down on the basics before you proceed:

To denote that your story is part of this 'universe', write "(A Fox Serum Story)" after your title (in parentheses).

The Fox Serum is a liquid that is injected into a person, transforming them into whatever DNA is present in that particular serum.  For example, in the original story (Fox's Serum), Dr. Adam Fox, the serum's inventor, had fox DNA present in his serum. This first serum caused a metamorphosis that lasted for three years.  Then he reverted back to human form.

After Dr. Fox chose to leave his human life behind (and to become a fox again), Dr. Craig Welton took over the Fox Serum trials.

The change is NOT instantaneous, but is relatively swift.  Newer serums have been invented for slower changes if desired (in Research Trial, the changes occur over twelve hours).

There are short-lived serums (in Research Trial, they test a one-week version), and long-term (five-year version in Flight of the Magpie).

As of the most recent story (Flight of the Magpie) there is no permanent serum, although certain people with a specific genetic mutation will not change back unless they are injected with a reversion formula that contains their own human DNA.

Special drugs are included in the serum to make the transformation a pleasurable experience.

When transformed, the person retains their human mind, but they develop the habits and instincts of the animal.  Transformed people are capable of reproducing, but their offspring will be normal animals and will have no special attributes.

In Zoo Tour, we are introduced to Mission Replenish, a group that is using transformed humans to repopulate endangered species.  Their waiting list of willing volunteers is quite long - each year one remains with them as a transformed animal, they receive $50,000.

NOTE:  The serum MUST have viable DNA or it will not work.  Thus any REAL form of life is fair game, but anything fantastical or mythical is off-limits.  I.e. no unicorns, hydras, Pokemons, or whatever.  It has to have real DNA.

Please contact me with any further questions, and I'll be happy to look over your work if you're unsure about anything.

Have fun!
