Daruma dolls are round Japanese limbless dolls based on Bodhidharma&#039;s story (<a href="https://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodhidharma">[link]</a>), intended for wishing. He was a buddhist monk whom legend tells his limbs vanished as he was contemplating for too long.<br /><br />Generally red, these Daruma dolls have a white face with mustache and beard, but no eyes. When bought, people draw one of the eyes as they wish for something... the second eye being drawn only when that wish came true.
