"Are you comfortable like this? I could get some pillows from the pool house..." "I'm fine, thank you... it's nice here, isn't it?" Violette smiled up from the mossy ground, wriggling just a little to settle against the smooth bark of the tree they sat under. "Yeah, I guess... I don't come out here often, I prefer indoors..." A gentle breeze swept through the leaves overhead, relieving the lingering heat from the summer sun, now slowly setting beyond the rolling hills before them. "Miss Adalia said you enjoy working on your computer a lot... it wouldn't work well outside, I think-" "Why would I want to use my computer outside?" Daniel scoffed, somewhat regretting his tone when he saw Violette's expression. "It's just... you liked to come out here when you were young, didn't you?"
These trees, this view... he did used to come out here in the past, playing in the fields, reading his books... but he was just a kid in those days. Maybe this girl Violette attended some garden party back then, the daughter of a wealthy family... looking at her attire, she could have eloped, ran away from home without permission or money to pursue her crazy dream... but that was simply too romantic, and more importantly, didn't fit. What social experience Daniel had had always been with nobles, and this girl simply wasn't a noble - she was too insecure, too servile for that. It would be so easy to determine where she fit into his life before, but somehow couldn't think of a proper way to phrase "while I appreciate your dedication in having your limbs removed for my pleasure, I can't actually recall who you were again, mind giving a hint...?"
"There... now just try to sit still, okay?" Daniel instructed with a blush of his own as he propped Violette up against his body. "I-I'll try... I'm sorry to be a bother, I'm not really used to this yet, but..." the girl whispered softly, her voice shaking with anxiety. "Just relax, it's okay..." And somehow, it really felt like it was. Sitting here, with Violette against his body, felt surprisingly nice. Was it because he had an amputee girl so close by... or the luscious summer evening air gently breezing around them... or just being away from all those other girls for a moment? "I-it was quite a hectic day already, wasn't it? Miss Adalia and miss Helena, still fighting..." "They really care for each other though-" Daniel started to explain, but suddenly realized he didn't know how Violette related to them either, if at all. "...Yeah, I remember..." the girl smiled thinly, gazing into the distance. "Those are really cute socks" Daniel hastily changed the subject, and Violette flushed deep red. "A-ah? These... these are just something I-I made..." She actually tried to hide them away, which considering her short stumps wasn't exactly an option, but her efforts were sort of adorable.
"I guess you can't buy clothing like that easily" Daniel tried to show empathy for what he had concluded was a lower class girl - not that his comment made much sense, the other girls probably had their entire wardrobe replaced without a second thought, and it was a bit hard to imagine how someone without wealth would go about doing so. Violette seemed to be answering his question, but Daniel found his mind wander back to the twins, who truly looked heavenly in their new attire, perfect reduced princesses...
It was a shame they always argued, those two... he recalled them seated on the sofa, such fire in their eyes, their chests heaving with their breath. Helena would squirm over to Adalia, using her flexibility to push her sister down to enforce her words... Adalia pushing back with her head, denying all the lewd accusations Helena was making. It was a mesmerizing sight - Adalia trying to arch her hips into Helena's stomach, unable to nudge her away; Helena's skirt riding up her body as she fought, her beautiful behind revealed, her notorious habit of not wearing underwear turning it into quite an indecent but sexy display.
Adalia finally gave, Helena's tussled hair draped on her rising chest. "Come join us, silly" Helena called over her shoulder, pursing her lips as she wiggled her behind ever so invitingly. "It's... it's impolite to keep your guests waiting..." Adalia huffed underneath her sister, her underwear damp with arousal. The Galvez de Cordoba twins, ready and waiting for him... entranced, he rose from his seat and approached them. "What are you waiting for?" Helena impatiently coaxed him, rubbing her breasts against Adalia's stomach as she prepared herself for him. But he couldn't ignore the girl quietly sitting at the side with a sad smile.
"Violette" Daniel muttered, waking up to see the girl's surprised blush at his side. "Y-yes? I'm sorry, you seemed to have dozed off, I didn't mean to wake you or anything, I-" Though the sun had nearly set, they were still underneath the tree overlooking the countryside, Violette secure against his body. "Ah, you didn't wake me... I just... never mind" Daniel smiled uncomfortably, shaking off the drowsiness that lingered after his accidental nap. He understood what was holding him back. Even a lecherous bastard like him felt some responsibility... today was Violette's day, and it wouldn't be fair to fantasize about the others in her time. Violette was blushing, staring demurely down, and although charmed at first, Daniel suddenly realized his erotic dream had left his crotch in quite an unpresentable state.
"Ah, geez - sorry!" he blushed, turning away to hide his embarrassing bulge, but no longer supported by his body, Violette slumped face-first down into the grass with a startled yelp. Flushed, Daniel helped her up again, the ditzy girl putting on a brave smile, her cheeks now streaked with splotches and blades of the green grass. "I-I don't mind about... you know... it's natural, and..." Violette muttered, though she seemed embarrassed enough about it anyway. "Sorry, it's just... you were right, about what you said earlier - it's been a bit of a crazy day" Daniel laughed nervously, wiping Violette's face clean with his handkerchief. "Daniel... do you... do you think I'm beautiful now?" Violette suddenly asked, her voice croaking with her timidness.
She certainly was. Though she lacked the confidence and grace the other girls had, she had an innocent beauty about her, a fragility he found very appealing. Even where her limbs were amputated, the short stumps remaining there, different from the impeccably smoothed out roundings of the other girls, added to her mysterious allure. But her question seemed to link to some past they had together, and Daniel simply didn't recall who she was supposed to be. "You look lovely" he answered conservatively, again trying to recall some glimmer of memory on the name Violette Duchamps, but those beautiful eyes... surely he would've remembered those?
But it was clear Violette still had questions, glancing at the wrapped remains of what was once her left arm. "I-I find you really attractive... like this" he croaked, trying to find the words. Not even to his call-girl maids did he ever explain just what he found so attractive about limbless girls, and sometimes he wondered if he even knew what it was or why he felt it in the first place. "I understand why, don't worry" Violette smiled confidently, pleasantly surprising Daniel; though he had no idea about her sincerity, he was just glad to have the awkward looming situation averted.
"Shall we go back inside? It's getting dark..." he finally ended the silence between them, though he actually was starting to enjoy the girl's company - where the other girls would measure his every word, being Violette felt much more... free. But dusk was setting in, and the occasional gusts of wind were quickly losing their gentle warmth. Violette nodded. "Maybe we should go straight to bed..." she smiled quietly, and suddenly, Daniel felt his heart rise up into his throat again.
Sure, Helena's behaviour had eclipsed the other girls, but he did not imagine the sexual tension that had existed between them all as his mother declared the purpose of this event. But up until now, he hadn't considered that perhaps this girl too expected to be loved; tonight would be her night... even his maid Sarah encouraged him to 'treat her well', and he suddenly realized how nervous that made him feel. "I mean... you must be really tired already, so..." "Ah yeah, okay" he laughed off his nerves, swallowing as he tried to gently lift the girl against his body.
"Are you sure you're okay in there?" Daniel called out to the door to his bathing chamber, a muffled shuffling all that came in reply at first. "I-I'm fine!" Violette called out after a while, and he sighed - the girl had insisted she'd freshen up for bed by herself, but the last he saw of her she was helplessly wriggling on the bath mat. However, a gentleman wouldn't barge into an occupied bathroom uninvited, and he sat back down on the bed, trying to ignore how nice and soft and inviting it felt - this had definitely been the most exhausting birthday he had experienced so far.
Violette had insisted he'd shower first, waiting for him to finish on the bed here - her reduced body had left such a small imprint on the blanket, and it made his heart pound anew. There was an amputee girl in his bathing chamber, wriggling around, probably naked... He quickly shook off his increasingly lewd thoughts before they could cause any further embarrassment, instead lifting more of Violette's clothing out of her bag.
A simple confection sweater, sleeves tied into coarse knots - quite practical, and he imagined she'd still look damn cute in them. The next article of clothing surprised him; a simple white blouse, but there were reddish-brown stains on it that hadn't properly washed out or something - wine? It was strange to find such a soiled garment in there, since the rest was all properly washed and ironed. He held it up to the light to get a better look, but dropped it in surprise as a stifled yelp came from the bathing chamber.
"Violette?" he called from around the door, his heart pounding - should he enter? "D-Daniel... I... I'm fine, I..." Violette huffed, but he could tell the distress in her voice. "Excuse me, I'm coming in" he declared, fighting down his nerves as he stepped inside. But as he watched the girl struggle on the floor, his concern turned to amusement - she really was clumsy. Despite what seemed like quite some effort, Violette was still almost fully clothed, only having managed to get her dress stuck over her head.
"So this is why girls always take so long in the bathroom" Daniel laughed, tugging Violette's dress back onto her shoulder - why was she being so stubborn about this? "I'll be fine, just give me another five minutes-" Violette pleaded, squirming some more. Daniel stood back with a smile, pretending to honor her request; Violette simply squirmed some more, but where Daniel expected a shy blush, Violette simply grew silent, nudging away from him, and he finally realized he was the only one finding this amusing.
"What's wrong? Just let me help you with your dress, or this is going to take hours..." he insisted, but Violette didn't say a word, biting her lip nervously. "Look, I'll just..." he started, but couldn't quite bring himself to just undress this girl without her consent. His eyes wandered across her reduced body; suddenly perking up, he realized the solution. "Let's get these off first" he hastily declared, pulling the knitted white sock from the girl's left leg stump.
"W-wait, no!" Violette begged, shrieking in pain just moments after. Startled, Daniel dropped the sock on the marble floor, gazing at Violette in surprise. Why did she... He shrunk back as he saw what the sock had been covering. "I-I didn't want you t-to see..." Violette whispered miserably, but Daniel's eyes were transfixed on the crude, blood-encrusted stitches that marred what was left of the girl's leg. Now he finally understood why she had been so apprehensive, why she insisted on freshing up by herself... "I'll be right back" he mumbled, stumbling outside.
"Yeah, I guess I did" he finally wussed out of asking the question, turning to Violette with a smile, only now discovering the girl had fallen over into the grass, blushing apologetically as she fruitlessly squirmed to get upright herself.
Stupid stupid stupid! Why did she take so long just to get undressed... everything was going so well, she had been so happy resting against Daniel underneath that tree, just watching the sun set as he dozed off... her heart had been beating so fast when he carried her up the stairs - he must have noticed, must have thought it strange, being used to proper ladies like Adalia and Helena, always so calm and reserved... but it was just...
She had always been too clumsy; "Bettine" Daniel's mother nicknamed her, in mockery of her bumbling nature. She knew she wasn't smart like miss Ermengarde; somehow she always ended up thinking too much about stuff or just daydreaming and things would drop from her hands or she'd forget to finish what she was doing. Even something as simple as changing her clothes... she could've at least planned for it...
If only she was as collected as miss Adalia, she would've just arranged for the maids to undress, wash and bandage her... or maybe she could've been as bold as miss Helena... who wouldn't even bother changing clothes, just using her flexible body to ravish Daniel right there on the bed... She shot into a warm blush just thinking about that - she'd never ever ever EVER have the nerve for something like that!
But all her excitement about what this night could bring was a waste now. She cringed as his expression haunted her. He saw them. Daniel de Lusignac, her dream prince, saw her hideous wounds. Proper surgery was too expensive for a simple girl like her, but she maintained that with the right fighting spirit, she could weather the alternative, to become beautiful in the eyes of Daniel whatever the cost.
So desperately she had tried to keep still, to give them a chance to heal... to ignore the pain, to smile, be pretty despite her damaged limbs. Her socks had covered them well, the bleeding thankfully not sufficient to soak through the fabric... all throughout the day she hadn't even flinched once. And it all paid off when he called her beautiful earlier.
Maybe he had just been polite - that was probably it... Next to those three high-class ladies, even just the call-girls that were his maids now, someone like her wasn't anything special. But that didn't matter to her, it didn't change the way those words made her feel. She'd treasure that moment, even if her sacrifice had been for nothing, now that she missed her chance to-
"Here... I brought you some bandages".
Violette looked up in startled fright to see Daniel standing over her, producing a roll of sterile gauze from a metal box. "D-Daniel, I thought y-you... because... because of my ugly scars, y-you..." she muttered, forgetting her condition as she nervously failed to sit up, her reduced limbs briefly squirming around before she calmed down a little. "What are you talking about? I said I'd be right back, I don't keep bandages in my room so I had to ask one of the maids".
"You don't have to do this..." Violette finally whispered, gasping slightly as the old bandages from her right arm, despite Daniel's gentle tug, tore away part of the fresh scabs forming there. "Sorry, I'm not good with this sort of thing" he apologized as he started to apply the clean bandages there. He came back - why did she even doubt he would? Why had she been so uncertain?
But what really touched Violette, what really made her heart flutter, was that he came back for her. Even though it manifested in such a strange way, she knew Daniel had a protective and caring personality. He didn't seem to recognize who she was - somehow, she could understand that - so many years had passed, in a life so different from hers... Yet despite that, just like he used to years ago, bringing her band-aids for the cuts and bruises from her clumsy accidents before his mother could find out, he helped her out again now.
"Besides, it's my duty to do this for you... it's my fault you all ended up like this". "No, you're wrong" Violette challenged him, blushing as she realized how impertinent she was being, but managed to collect her thoughts to continue. "I-I mean... we all made our own choices... I don't know about miss Ermengarde, miss Helena or miss Adalia, but I'm sure they had a good reason to come here... we... I... wanted to be here with you, like... this..." Her heart was beating so fast; did he really not understand why they were there?
"That's not what I meant" Daniel stated, staring off blankly for a moment. "It's just... love, and marriage, and all that... I'm not exactly an expert, but... aren't they too special to be arranged through some weird competition?" "I-I guess you're right... it's all pretty crazy, isn't it?" Violette smiled, though a new uncertainty clouded her heart. "Is that comfortable?" Daniel finally asked, securing the last bandage; Violette nodded. "Yes, this feels much better... d-don't worry about the rest". "Okay - let me carry you to bed then" he smiled nervously, and Violette blushed deep red. Through all her concerns, she had almost forgotten that tonight was supposed to be her night...
The warm hands supporting her body, slowly lowering her down into the infinite softness of the bed of her prince... tonight wasn't hers... she was his. Oh, so many times she had quietly fantasized about this moment, about how she would feel tonight, the things they would say, the tender caresses she would feel... Just moments ago she had dreaded that her wounds would turn him away, but now she couldn't help wonder if her reduced body was sufficiently attractive to him... even if he didn't remember her, perhaps he could still feel love or lust for the woman she had become?
She blushed as his hand approached, feeling it tremble on her cheek. Violette exhaled, her body warming up in preparation of what was to come - she was ready to part with her innocence, to embrace what now felt so natural. But Daniel seemed to falter, turning away from her with a deep sigh. "W-what's wrong?" she croaked, her voice hoarse with impatience; her pulse was racing, her body was blooming. "I just... this just feels wrong. You shouldn't be made to prove yourself like this... it feels like we're just doing what my crazy mother wants us to do, when this should be about..."
"About us" Violette smiled, for that moment desperately wishing she still had a hand to reach out with, to comfort him, to let him know it was alright. "Yeah... to be honest, I really dislike this competition... I'm not ready to marry anyone, it's just something mother came up with, but when I see you girls, I just..." She could understand his feelings... could relate so well to them - she had doubted for weeks about this, and Daniel had only learnt about all this today... but still... "What do you think I should do?" he suddenly asked, and Violette swallowed nervously. "It's not my place si- Daniel I mean, I..."
"If you're not ready... then I don't think marriage is a good idea" she spoke, wishing she could deliver those words with more conviction. "B-but I... we... we've come here for you... aside Madame de Lusignac's wishes, we could always make the best of it, enjoy the time we have together... like today, I really enjoyed the time we spent outside, and dinner, and... now, so..."
"Mmm..." Daniel seemed to answer in thought, and Violette steeled her nerves - it was now or never. "The truth is... I've been in love with you for a long time... I'm not sure if you forgot... or maybe you recall, but it didn't mean as much to you - that'd be perfectly okay, I mean, we were never really... I mean- I'm just a simple girl, but..." Violette stammered, biting her lip to calm herself down.
"If you don't remember... I used to work here... I was the dorky maid with the glasses who accidentally spilled that bucket on you first time we met... "Bettine" Madame de Lusignac called me because I often dropped or broke something... I was always so nervous she'd fire me, but every time I hurt myself or dropped something you'd be there to help me..." She closed her eyes, thinking back to those wonderful days.
"When I had that fever, you stayed by my bedside throughout the night... when I burnt my fingers on the stove, you smuggled in food and hand-fed me... and when I sprained my ankle you carried me around... I can only remember being in love with you. When Madame de Lusignac informed us we weren't necessary anymore, I cried for weeks... I guess she felt it was time you grew up..."
"And we both grew up, didn't we... I found new employment, though I often got scolded or fired... I thought I'd get over my love for you, but somehow every time I ended up hurting myself again, I missed you so much... and when I heard about the competition Madame de Lusignac was planning for my old master, my heart started beating fast, and I thought... well... I know I'm just a simple servant girl, but... I was still hoping, with how you always cared for me when we were young... that you'd remember me, and..." Violette shuffled her reduced limbs underneath the blankets, emphasizing her need.
"That's why I decided to have the surgery... I used all the money I managed to save up, because I knew you'd care for me again, even if you didn't remember me... because that's the kind of person you are, and the kind of person I've been in love with for so long... I hope you find me attractive like this... a-and I'd be honored if you'd be... my f-first, I mean..." Violette blushed deep red, opening her eyes as she squinted away her tears of happiness. "I-I'm ready, master... please be gentle..."
Turning to Daniel, her heart pounding, Violette sighed as she saw his open mouth, his shallow breathing now accented by a slight snore.
She had just laid there for hours and hours, staring at him, unable to withhold her blushing smile. Her master had really worn himself out today... and deserved his rest. They'd always have the morning for... well... anything her master would wish.
Morning sunlight filtered generously through the curtains as Daniel showed his first sign of life - a snag in his breath, followed by a quick turn to his side where he resumed his nap. She smiled, watching his innocent face - would it be too early to wake him up? The sun had been up for a while, but she didn't want to impose...
And yet, she felt she had to do something. A warm blush spread over her as she imagined how miss Helena would handle this - head off in search of morning wood, and... gosh, she couldn't ever do anything like that. But a simple kiss... surely she'd be brave enough for that... and if nothing else, it's what she'd take away from this wonderful experience.
Inch by inch she managed to squirm her body closer to her master, using the full length of what was left of her limbs to push her towards him. She'd need to practice with her new body, get used to moving around more elegantly, but she didn't have to move far that morning, and soon she was in position, nervously closing her eyes as she moved in with a kiss.
Just at that moment, the bedroom door flung open. Daniel shot up next to her, declaring "I'm up!" as he blearily stared around at what was going on, inadvertedly nudging the blanket over her head. But there was no mistaking that perfume...
"Daniel darling! Just what do you think you're still doing in bed at this hour? It's already past breakfast time... hurry up and get dressed - there's a new girl to see you!" Violette's heart skipped a beat underneath the blankets - what did Madame de Lusignac mean? "M-mother... what are you doing here? And what do you mean, a new girl?"
"Hmm? I said I'd be back soon, didn't I? Oh, and I mean a new girl eager for your hand in marriage, so hurry hurry!" "You can't just bring in new girls like that!" she heard him croak, but there was little determination in his voice. "Don't be silly, ofcourse I can - you really should be more thankful to your mother you know - now go clean yourself up, and don't forget to wash behind your ears".
Daniel hurried out, leaving Violette alone in the bed; somehow she now hoped Madame de Lusignac would be as oblivious to her as Daniel seemed to be, but she simply wasn't that lucky. A quick pull on the blankets was enough to uncover her completely, blushing heavily as she stared up at Madamde de Lusignac's polite smile. "Well well, miss Duchamps..."
"I hope you've had a wonderful night of pleasure with my boy, hmm?" she inquired, her eyes grazing over her. "Ah- we d-didn't..." Violette stammered with a deep blush - even Mrs. de Lusignac expected that? "Oh really! Well, I don't know whether I should feel happy or disappointed about that..." Despite her sleepiness, the implication in the woman's voice reached Violette just fine, and she put up a thin smile.
"Anyway... I hope you'll cherish your night with him nonetheless. It must've been quite an experience for someone like you". "Y-yes madame, and... and thank you... I hope Daniel... I mean monsieur de Lusignac will-" "Choose you to be his wife? Now, Bettine..." Madame de Lusignac took over her sentence with a laugh, though that wasn't what she wanted to say. "You're become a pretty girl, that's certainly true... but you're just not a good match for my boy. He has more appropriate offers before him, so don't you think it'd be better if you didn't get in the way of the others, hmm? Can you do that for me?"
She wanted to believe in Daniel. She wanted to believe she had a chance to win his heart, one way or another. But she knew she wasn't lucky... her night didn't go as she had imagined it would. Madame de Lusignac was probably right... perhaps it was time to accept her situation, to accept that she missed her opportunity. New girl or not, it didn't matter to her... it was all up to Daniel now, to decide what he wanted out of this crazy competition. But she would support him... would support his decision... and would keep his feelings about marriage to herself, like a proper servant would. "Yes, madame de Lusignac". "Good girl. I'll send up a maid to help you dress".
