Charles Greenwood owned three kinds of slaves. Servants. Bedwarmers. Ponies.
The ponies were his favorite. Charles’s own special toys to mold and play with as he pleased. He loved to watch them race, to watch their muscular bodies—contained wonderfully in their leather harnesses armbinders and pony boots and blinders—strain with every effort to win. He loved to feed them sugar cubes out of his hand, he loved letting them pull him along for an evening walk and all the countless other things he could do with them!
Let his wife keep her dogs, Charles preferred his little herd of pony-slaves. Mostly mares, along with a couple of stallions for drudge work (and to pleasure the mares when they deserved a nice reward).
He didn’t turn them into ponies himself. Instead he left that for the Ranch. Charles could condition his ponies just fine, but the process of breaking poor kidnapped wretches into the animals was a talent he’d never managed to pick up. Over the years his own efforts to do so had proven inconsistent enough that he preferred to pay for the professionals to handle it. That was how he’d met his dear wife Lydia in the first place, in her place of employment.
“Hello girls!” He called to his mares one fine sunny afternoon. His reward was a chorus of four neighs and foot stampings. “Today we’ll be going on a hunt.”
More neighs, more stamps, but a bit more reluctant this time.
The Ranch trainers and Lydia always told him to be careful about how he spoke to the ponies. They were animals now, and she be spoken to as if they were animals, they said. No complex sentences, nothing to remind them of their human past. They were horses now.
But where was the fun in that?
Three of the four ponies Charles would be hunting today knew the rules of this game. But the new pony, named Midnight after the pitch-black color of her hair, would need some explanation. She had come from south of the border, and would need a brief explanation.
“The rules are very simple,” Charles said as he looked over the others. Bonney was a redheaded crook once upon a time. His haughty ebony beauty Desert was a track star from the Southwest. And Forest was a tall Canadian brunette he’d specially ordered from the Kraken Club. A tall athlete who had taken well to the race training after her training at the Ranch.
“I’m going to let you all run free across my estate,” he explained to Midnight. Pinching and lightly spanking her as he saw fit. He did so enjoy seeing her big brown eyes framed by her blinders and bit gag. “I’ll wait fifteen or twenty minutes to come after you all. Whoever stays free the longest gets a day of rest tomorrow. Understand?”
Don’t ask questions was another rule Lydia wouldn’t let him forget. But making his ponies understand what he was doing was part of the fun! And when Midnight nodded, he smiled.
“Good! Now, let’s get started, shall we?” He nodded to one of his staff, who opened the barn door.
“Off you go girls!” he shouted with a hard smack to Midnight’s rump. “And may the best mare win!”
